    INTRODUCTION.
    Dear Brothers and Sisters.
The readings for the 2nd Sunday in Lent Year B revolve around several profound themes that intertwine to offer a rich tapestry of faith, sacrifice, divine revelation, and salvation.
In the first reading from Genesis, we encounter the powerful story of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, in obedience to God's command. Despite the unimaginable pain and sorrow this must have caused him, Abraham trusted in God's providence and remained faithful. It was this unwavering faith and obedience that led to the fulfillment of God's promise and the establishment of a covenant with Abraham and his descendants.
This story serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices we are called to make in our own lives, as we journey through the wilderness of Lent towards the glory of Easter. Just as Abraham was willing to offer his beloved son in obedience to God, we too are called to surrender our own will and desires to God's perfect plan for us.
The psalmist echoes this sentiment in Psalm 115, reminding us that we are called to trust in the Lord, who is our help and our shield. Even amid trials and tribulations, we can take refuge in God's unfailing love and strength. Let us turn to Him in prayer, seeking His guidance and grace as we navigate the challenges of our lives.
In the Second reading, St. Paul reassures us of God's constant presence and support in our lives. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Paul asks. No matter what challenges or obstacles we may face, we can have confidence in God's love and protection. Through Christ, we are more than conquerors, and nothing can separate us from the love of God.
In today’s Gospel, we witness the transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain, revealing His true glory as the beloved Son of God. This extraordinary event serves as a glimpse of the heavenly glory that awaits us, as we continue to follow Christ on our journey of faith. Like Peter, James, and John, may we be open to encountering the presence of God in our lives, and may our hearts be transformed by His light and truth.
