Hi Chris! I have watched countless T2 videos and reviews all over RUclips, but no other photographer managed to capture such poppy, vibrant, sharp and contrasty photos the way you did it, I'm truly in awe with your photography. A couple of things, I noticed you mentioned that you edit a lil bit on LR, if you ever want to share a tutorial on how you edit, or even start selling your presets I will run immediately to get them. Did you shoot all of this on auto mode? Did you use exposure compensation? One final thing, which film are you using at 0:22 at the lemons shot, stunning!
Hi, thanks very much for the very kind words. A while back someone quite grumpily complained that if I was going to edit them, then there was no point putting them in a T2 review. I do understand that, but I'm happy to start with a film picture and edit it until it feels right. But I understand his point of view though - it's definitely worth noting these aren't right out of camera. If they're not as contrasty as I'd like - I'll just add that in post :-) But I do try to not go overboard with editing film. On bright days I tend to put the exposure compensation to +1 and it usually works out OK. The lemons photo was Kodak Gold by the way. Thanks again!
@@ChrisBoland Thank you Chris! Regarding that other fella, I just think it's ridiculous, your T2 is a tool, and Light Room it's just another tool, everything plays an important part on the path of getting a great photography, it's like complaining about photographers pushing or pulling film regarding it as "cheating", it's the same as LR only that it's analog. When you deliver the rolls pushed +1 on your local lab, you let them know or you just develop at box speed?
Thank you. I feel more confident now, but when I started out I often wondered what I was 'supposed' to do or what the rules were 🙂 I should stress that in setting the exposure to plus one in bright sun it was about roughly getting correct exposure rather than over exposing it. I'm really not technical or accurate with it at all. And yes, the lab would just develop as usual. Thanks 👍
Just loving your videos. Discovered your channel today from your video about your scanner. Wondering what films you used here, particularly at 1:03 and 3:19, both of the woman
Thanks so much Nick 👍 It's really funny you should ask about those pictures. I double checked which film that was just yesterday. I had had it in my mind that it was Kodak Gold 200, but thought I might have remembered it wrong. But I hadn't - it's definitely Kodak Gold. 👍 I love the look of those too.
Thank you very much Anthony. It's a fantastic little camera. I think all of these were with Kodak Gold. I edit a little in Lightroom, but not change the feel too much.
May I ask what scanner you are using? I´ve almost given up on shooting 35mm and only shoot medium format now, because of never feeling happy with the scans from these smaller negatives. These images look great and detailed though! Nothing like what I get from my epson v800
Thanks very much Max. Sometimes I like a bit of a low-fi look, but film is amazing too when it pops with detail. For these scans I have been using this one - ruclips.net/video/5Eh-TsXyTuU/видео.html I have recently used some Portra with my Fuji Klasse W and was really really impressed with the look - although for those I got the lab to scan them.
Is that blurry from motion or just out of focus. The T2 doesn't have as close focusing as the T3, so if you're too close for portraits it might not focus correctly. For motion blur I guess just a high ISO film and more light would help - anything to stop the shutter going too low.
Some very nicely done photos which sort of display the performance of the camera. I own and use a T2, so I am familiar with its virtues and its shortcomings. What's my problem? When he says he has edited the photos in Lightroom, he is saying that the photos do not reflect the performance of the camera, so why bother with calling this a "review". A far cheaper and less capable camera can produce a negative which, with enough finely tuned sharpening, contrast modification, lens aberation compensation, etc., and two hours slaving over a computer, will look no different than these photos. Example: The T2 lens vignettes at the corners at most apertures, but not here. All that said, the T2 is IMO the best balance of features in a point-n-shoot camera. However, if you were to prioritize a particular feature, say absolute lens sharpness or allow for a bit larger physical size, other cameras would be superior. (Lens-Nikon 35Ti; Konica Hexar AF; Size-Konica Hexar AF.)
Hi Randall. Thanks very much for your really detailed thoughts about my review. I do agree it's not anything close to a comprehensive or exhaustive review and in the unlikely event this wasn't obvious I took some time to say this at the start. However, I do feel it is a still a review - albeit limited and from my own perspective. If there are other T2 reviews on RUclips I hope it might complement them. I thought it was important to state that the photos had been lightly edited in Lightroom. There was no "two hours of slaving over a computer". They were lightly edited in Lightroom. This probably mostly involved just a little cropping - which might account for the often absent vignettes. Once again - thank you for your ideas, I appreciate you taking the time to write.
@@ChrisBoland good! I wouldn't! Its a special little camera that I don't doubt you would regret selling. And when you go to buy it back someday it will cost even more! Lol

Chris Boland Kodak Gold it is! What a dreamy look. Thanks for the reply
@@nickhanlin8614 I have read that it's best overexposed a stop - that's what I'll make sure I do next.
Chris Boland great. Can’t wait to see how it looks
Great review, I’ve been looking to pick one up myself. Was curious, do you happen to remember what film you use for 0:25? Love the coloring!

Thank you! I should clarify - all from that wedding (with the bride in the thumbnail) were Gold 200. The lemons were from that wedding 🙂 🍋

what settings are ur camera set to? I keep getting blurry portraits

Photographs are amazing. So shocked I know 3 people in them!
Thank you Brinley. That's pretty amazing you recognise so many people - it's a really small world 🙂
did you shoot everything on auto mode/focus?
also, what scanner do you use?
Hi. It's been a while since I took those, but it would have been mostly automatic - just using the exposure compensation.
I used to have the Plustek 135 - there's a video of me using it on here somewhere. But these days I just send to a lab.
