Woodworking - The Stacoustic. Full build, making an acoustic guitar

- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2024
- Hey everyone this concept acoustic guitar is called the Stacoustic AKA "The Stac". Drawing inspiration from velocity stacks on race cars and the Tornavoz found on some classical guitars, protruding from the upper bout we have three resonant ports of different diameters and lengths all tuned to well under what the low E string is resonating at. The intention is not creating more bass, but to influence harmonic overtones and see what kind of character we can get out of this guitar. The end result is,,, it sounds like a guitar.
Forgive my playing towards the end of the video, I am not much of a guitarist.
Some specs:
Graph Tech RATIO tuning machines
Graph Tech saddle and nut
Graph Tech bridge pins
Jescar EVO Gold fretwire
25.5 to 26.5 multi-scale maple fretboard
Double action truss rod
Maple bridge
Black spruce top
Birch back and sides
Birds eye maple neck
Spruce bracing, birch bridge patch

this man hand carved and carefully contoured the damn hidden underside braces.
Playing a guitar that you created is probably one of the most satisfying things in the world.
I cannot tell how this unique design contributes to the sound of this guitar, but it's beautiful for sure.
One of the most Beautiful Guitars i've ever seen.
Nice work, lot's of neat ideas that I will be stealing! Especially the "flying" brace and the tuned ports. The lute style top brings a tight midrange and treble similar to the "00"s and must simplify the build process. Your solution for the "upper bout" is genius !
Yeahh the flying brace was a wild card, and ended up complementing that dry mid range focus of the lute shape like you mentioned. I deff recommend the tuned ports, they were fun and add some wild characteristics. Thanks!
Listening to this song makes me want some Tweeks Coffee. Special, like an Arizona sunrise or a country farm after the rain…
What fun! thanks for the video.
Yeah a fun design! Very welcome.
😍👍 , you Amazing........
Greetings From' INDONESIA 🇮🇩🙏
You did FINE with your demo playing...Just so you know!
Haha I Appreciate that! Thank you!
@@slicwood231 Anytime, and thanks for the splendid design ethic! I am a restoration luthier (when my hands allow it), and ordinarily don't care so much for strut/lattice designs on acoustic guitars, but this is wonderful!
Thanks for the kind words! The strut certainly changes the characteristics of the top, And I can totally see how one could easily destroy an otherwise responsive guitar haha
@@slicwood231 Absolutely! Yeah, I would be hiding that one from the other chimps Lol
Do you know what song he plays? It's excellent))
Beautifully Crafted.!!
Kind words! Thank you.
The beautiful work.
With respectfully
You are a bloody genius. Absolutely gorgeous guitar.
Awesome vid Rick
Thanks Wade!
beautiful
Sounds cool
Awesome video. Exceptional work.
Thank you very much!
First acoustic in years that’s tweaked my imagination!
That's what I like to hear! Thanks!
Impressed.
That looks incredible. Just wow
Beautiful
Thank you!
Great build
Thanks!
Amazing bro
Awesome work!!!
Your YT short led me here btw.
Thanks!
After brainnumbingly looking through hundreds of videos, when I saw this guitars thumbnail I literally said "Oh WOW!" out loud!. Now THIS is innovation :) Well done sir!.
Kind words! Thank you much!
That looks incredible.
they main part of the body reminds me of an irish bouzouki and I love what you have done
staggering, and beautiful- hopefully Pete Townsend doesn"t get it
Hahahahha
Wkwkwk... 😂
Great build! Really enjoyed watching it!
Thanks! Interesting build for sure!
Cool swampy sound, bravo♧
This luthier is amazingly talented. The video has convinced me never to try making a guitar. The amount of tools ($$$) and specialty skills needed make me realize that I can better use my time playing a guitar rather than creating one.
Yes, I know a skilled craftsman that attempted a solid body strat out of burl wood. He ended up needing help; it weighed a ton and wasn't all that enjoyable to play. But I guess kudos for effort.
Amazing ! congrats from France bro
Undoubtably a thing of beauty.
You really achieved an aesthetically pleasing design. The possibilities of using a combination of other timbers would be really interesting. Great work from SlicWood !
Yeahh some interesting wood combos could really twist the design in different directions! Thank you!
Beautiful Work! A fine mix of hand and power tools.
I agree with your opinion. It is also interesting to know your opinion about my videos. In one of the videos, I made gold earrings out of ordinary pasta.
What a great idea!!! Love it! Well done!
Yeah something interesting! Thanks!
Legend holds, that when this guitar is played under a full moon, unicorns gather nearby, and all spirits are lifted to enlightenment..
It's almost alien, it's gorgeous.
A work of art
Aside from the excellent build, wanna complement on your production value, music, etc. Very nice...
Nice! Thank you!
Cool my friend... Cool )))))))))))))
Very nice! I think you succeeded in proof of concept. The bass is strong, but not boomy, just crisp and tight. And the treble is clear and round. That sure is some pretty wood, too. Nice axe all around.
When I was watching the beginning I thought you were building a cittern. And really, if you make one of those strung with 4 or 5 courses and leave off the fake upper bouts, you'll have a super-cittern. My mind tends to go that way cuz cittern has been my main axe for some decades, even though I started music on Classical guitar in '69.
Nice description of the tone! Thank you!
Ace ..... and nice demo playing.....Couple of hundred years time that'll sound so mellow.....
It looks stunning!
Thank you!
Wow sublime guitar.
Thank you!
Wow is all I can say just wow
That guitar is so beautiful
Majestic piece of work! I am in awe!
That’s a freakin work of art man. Wow
That is the prettiest acoustic guitar I think I've ever seen. You are amazing...me saying a great job is an understatement. Cool background music as well
Wow! Thank you!
Great concept and design.
love it.
Amazing. That's freaking off the charts Amazing. Fantastic man.
Thanks for the props! Nice to hear!
What a beautiful guitar ❤️
Thank you!
Beautiful instrument, thank you.
Guys, thank you so much for showing these videos. With all the garbage going on in the world, I can sit back and relax, and be jealous. Beautiful stuff
Wow ,beautiful!
Awesome build! Excited to hear how it sounds
Yeah can't wait to see what you cook up with it!
It's an extremely unusual design of course, but the piece came out fantastically
Beautiful work. Love the sound pipes
Amazing piece of art. 👏👏👏
Suona bene, timbro ed armonici molto originali. Progetto riuscitissimo, complimenti!👏👏👏
Love the Bluegrass version of Fearless!!
Awesome!
ive watched a lot of builds and this is the first one ive been compelled to post feedback on and it positive, great job, sounds so good!
This belongs in a museum, its so beautiful!!!! :0
Amazing woodworking and luthier skillset. Thanks for the video. Personal opinion: Shop sounds are the music of the shop, music added from some royalty free source is exactly what you pay for it, nothing and not needed.
your guitar thrills my soul...if I have money I really want to buy it :)
That was most definitely slick & sick AF 🤘
🍻
This guitar is so beautiful ..it just makes me think I am not at all worthy of playing that..even though I know a little I still don't play all the time..my guitar just stays at the wall .
I hope this guitar reaches somewhere good to someone who plays and brings out the beauty of it
It has gone to deserving hands! it was shipped to Nick White Music Room, keep an eye out he may cut a video of it in action in the near future! ruclips.net/channel/UCq1bT4TvftexLHwJVnIEfZA
@@slicwood231 wow..thats good..will check it out
Nice!!!! 💪💪💪💪
Beautiful skills
That’s a beauty
One of these days I'm going to build a archtop parlor guitar shaped like an A style mandolin. I really believe there is something acoustically special about that shape of resonance chamber. I really like your concept of skeletonized wings to give it the ergonomics of a traditional acoustic while maintaining the unique tone of the teardrop body and soundboard.
Yeah fully aggree on the shape/sonics. Thanks!
Beautiful work. Well done.

With that massive bridge plate and that…. I’m not even sure what it’s called brace. And the, um, perhaps Over abundance of X bracing…..
Well, perhaps some amplification might be called for 🤘🏻😄🤘🏻
I loved it! Amazing!
Dude was watching on my tv n had to come to the phone for a comment but man that thing is Noiice I would pay to own that send it my way I also have ebt food stamps lol
Im speachless
Beautiful work...
У мастера золотые руки! Патрясающий инструмент!!! 👍👍👍
Beautifull looks and sound!
wow dude, that’s such a beautiful guitar
So beautiful😍😍

Very interesting concept/design. I would be interested in some comparative analysis data: this instrument, as measured against a common name brand. Beautiful craftsmanship. Best regards.
Yeah it would be nice to hear an A/B against a mainstream brand. The guitar is gone to Nick White Music Room so we might see some sensible video of it in near future. ruclips.net/channel/UCq1bT4TvftexLHwJVnIEfZA
Very nice craftsmanship!
Finally, something original.

Very interesting and beautiful guitar! Great with new thinking! Amazing!!
Good job
Pretty cool! It reminds me of Thierry André's guitars
now that's a compliment! I've seen his work and it's absolutely amazing
Cool creative design!

Красивая получилось !
Really cool! I'm editing the building of a tear drop bass. Quite similar. I'll send a link when it's done. Good work.
Yeah send it along! Thanks !
Beautiful and quite interesting 👏
Hey Man, great job. I also built a similar guitar which I call CHOYTARA back in 2019. Cheers!
