“On the Street Where You Live” is a masterclass in using musical arrangements to comment on text. First sung by the lovestruck Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady, the song has stood as a testament to the joys of young love. But in Feifke’s arrangement, we hear a dark and brass-heavy intro set to an omnipresent trombone pulse, inviting us to contemplate whether Eliza Doolittle actually welcomed the ongoing presence of an undesired suitor perpetually loitering outside her residence. What results is not only a cover of a time-honored standard; in his arrangement, Feifke finds a truly unique approach that offers new insights into this work, one that is emotionally more richly textured and nuanced than its source material might have known."

I think a whole album of Veronica Swift accompanied by Steven Feifke big band would be an iconic album.
Agreed, I would love that. This track is fire.
You are so absolutely right. Pre-order? 😂🌟🎉❤️
I'm in.
THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION
yes please
That’s how you hit high notes without sounding like you’re screaming! That’s singing!
it's a style, yes, and it's more appealing to many of us, but it doesn't make sense to compare pop singing to jazz
@@NotesNNotes What doesn't make sense is to be unable to recognize when a singer is a perfectly trained musician too....
dam she has that classic jazz Ella Fitzgerald vibrato
This has to be one of the best big band arrangements ever!!! Veronica Swift's voice is an all time greats in the jazz world!!
What a great, amazing voice! If I shut my eyes I think of Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaugham on the Golden Years.
She’s the Sarah and Ella of our time! Simply spectacular! And the band is totally awesome! I have never fast forwarded thru their performance and I’ve listened to this song literally hundreds of times. I love it!😊😊😊❤❤❤
WoW! So tight and together! Perfect singer for a perfect band!! What a God-send this was to bring them all together!
The key change at 7:00 brought tears to my eyes.

She is indeed surrounded by good souls, I have met a few of them. Veronica is now spreading her wings: 2 sold out shows at Ronnie Scott's on the 10th of Nov w her TransGenre Band!

Very Very nice. A Flat blooms into a big bouquet of flowers. Beautiful Jack Teagarden- like trombone solo. Everyone sounds wonderful & Veronica puts the cherry on top of the cake.
Veronica is a rare talent. A voice and spirit that is elite. A once every other blue moon gift to this humanity.
Oh deer Suite lowered that harmonic bomb drop at 7:01 is murder. I think I’m dead.

Anybody ever watch the FX show Better Things? There's an episode where there's a guy singing this at some bar...I LOVED it! The actor singing it is in a bunch of film/TV things... Sung like a good musical should be sung!
I absolutely love this!
Absolutely Top Shelf In All Aspects . Everyone Delivers !
Very nice
I've been listening and loving this arrangement for a while, but I never read the description before: "... inviting us to contemplate whether Eliza Doolittle actually welcomed the ongoing presence of an undesired suitor perpetually loitering outside her residence" 😂😂
Very interesting arrangement and a nicely controlled vocal. Many thanks.
Tears….of Joy!!!
What a haunting arrangement. I've never heard of Veronica Swift before. I'm now searching out more of her stuff. Robert Edwards takes a great solo and doesn't sound like anyone else.
Yes, great 'bone solo indeed.
Wow . I am speechless ! Almost. What a lovely serendipitous find. A ton of talent ! Excellent. Lovely smooth vocal phrasing. Thank you !
Un grand moment musical,Veronica est au top
Greatest jazz arrangement and vocal of all time!
So good to hear a great big band again, especially with awesome vocals (Very Sassy;^) and arranging! Another thumbs up for the super slick modulation!
Super slick? That has to be the actual name of that harmonic progression! Did I also hear a slight vocal metric modulation at the same time (is that you, Elliott Carter?)?
Caught this on wgbh (Boston) jazz radio and had to see a video of it. What a voice! Great band too.
She's got a great voice, just saw a video of her scat singing w/ at a jam session @ Smalls, really swinging and great improvisations. Powerful.
FOUND YA!!!
What a voice lady...
I just have to agree what people right about this awesome video :) :) :)

Beautiful performance by all involved… and what an interesting and unique arrangement. Bravo! A+!
Great haunting arrangement Ms Swift gives a subtle nuance to the lyrics that fully capture the jazz elements of this great tune. She surely gives a whole big meaning to less is more and truly nails it.
quite!
By far, my favorite singer who's last name is Swift!
She is such a great singer
I have waited a long time for a band and a voice like this, fantastic - brilliant - more please.

Veronica Swift é fabulosaaaaaa. Que voz incrívle! Deus abençoe!!
Unbelievable. Bravo.
They have to do an album together with Veronica Swift and Steven Fiefke.... Well she does club jazz wonderfully with Chris botti her voice is suited to Big band no question about it again I reference Anita O'Day
Love you Veronica Swift this is the song that made me fall in love with you! Your voice made me fall in love with you. I went to the show in Appleton September 23 it was great but I think I like jazz better you are probably trying something different after singing jazz for so many years but I would like to hear you singing jazz music again in the future sometime. LOVE YOU❤❤❤ and will go see you again soon no matter what music you are singing!❤❤❤ Thank you and the band in this video is amazing Love it❤❤❤
I think this is a good album. Who said big brass and good vocals are gone? I enjoy 🎶 listening while I am busy around my apartment or enroute to a destination
A maior cantora da história do jazz.
Love this arrangement - and Veronica Swift's singing is just perfect
I grew up with Ella, Peggy Lee, et al, Louise, and Veronica can transcend with the best, in my heart of hearts, even eclipse.
