Opatów - a map of memory

Depending on the optics, the "shtetl" as a concept is a real space, an economic system or simply a certain idea, a notion. The etude touches on the subject of the influx of memory and post-memory, which is initiated most often thanks to the development of social media and the Internet. The new technologies are helping to forge connections between local activists and the descendants of the Jews of these localities: Survivors, descendants of labor emigrants from the turn of the 20th century, and descendants of emigrants from the 1920s and 1930s. For both sides, these encounters are often a great experience, a discovery and surprise at each other's presence, interest and attentiveness. They awaken not only reflections on history itself, but are also a meeting of different cultures of memory.
