I recently bought a Paslode airless nail gun. Oh man!! Much fun! We are just getting back into the Christmas spirit here at the Shannon's. See you Saturday in a zoom I hope!
I considered a portable and decided I didn't need the added expense. Unfortunately, I'm looking to nail everything now. It's quite fun to use. Should be a fun weekend!
Can always count on a laugh at least 10 seconds into any video! Now anytime I look at my layout I will hear you whispering in the wind.... ❄️ snowflakes ❄️ hope all is well! I know it was probably almost 100 when you filmed that 😂
Yes, he includes a model for xLights. I was just trying to show how you can create a custom model using the snowflake as an example. Got so many people griping about using a star for this. lol!
@@CanispaterChristmas That's what I get for leaving a comment before I finished watching the video to understand what your overall purpose was. As always thank you for all your help and information. One possible idea that I'm working on in my head - how to mount this style of prop directly on your house, either brick, vinyl, or in my case on plywood/cement board panels
No worries. I populated the center hole on the small one and that was intended for mounting. I won't use it for that so I stuck a pixel in there. haha Yeah, mounting is a challenge with all of these props. Kinda the creative part of the hobby based on your situation - no one right way to do it.
Question, we bought your class and our looking to buy pixels for our first display. We like the pigtails but we were wondering does the holiday coro pigtails and ray wu pigtails work together. Thanks!
Totally off topic but I thought you would know the answer to this. I am switching my permanent eve pixels over to a Falcon16v3 I know its limited to 96 universes. Can I divide the 96 Universes how I like or am I actually limited to 6 universes per string? Eve has 987 pixels but would need to be broken down into 7 or 8 universes to avoid a programming nightmare. Thanks any feedback would be appreciated.
You can, but is there a reason you're trying to figure this out manually? You can just set the Universe/channel for the first pixel and the software will work out the details for you (best to pack the universes meaning use all the channels even though a pixel may span 2 universes). If you use xLights and if you configure it according to Keith's instructions, xLights can configure the F16 for you. I haven't manually messed with universes in years. I could also be that I don't understand what you re asking. :)
@@CanispaterChristmas Thanks this is exactly what I was asking. I am still using 11 non-DMX LOR controllers. Still using S5 (on 3 networks and E1.31) I was trying to figure out if I needed to rent a lift, break the string, and add a differential controller for the side of the house. I would love to switch to xLIghts but my singing faces are all running on pixie16s and I am a little nervous to make the jump with my differential controllers on backorder.
Thanks. You have to check the pixels you have as there isn't a standard. It might be hard to see depending on the pixels you have. Most of the ones I've used have power on the outside and data in the middle, but you really need to be sure or run the risk of messing up the pixels. There's usually a GND or + printed on the tiny circuit board. Sometimes I can see with a magnifying glass. Some wires have ribs on the plus or minus, but again, no real standard.
Hi quick question I can't find your viceo again where you go over it but what is the name of that bungie ball thing that you use to hold tention on your strips for around your gurage door please and thanks I forgot the name and need to buy them lol
My Amazon storefront is: www.amazon.com/shop/canispaterchristmas which is where I have everything I use. You're referring to the Ball Bungees: amzn.to/3isDwV9 Love those things! It's probably in one of the setup videos.
@@CanispaterChristmas you definitely have it in at least 2 that I've seen but I forgot which ones thank you sir got my most of my light and power supply now I gotta get the falcon player and I believe the ras pi then finish figuring out how it all works lol thanks again jeff
Gonna be honest. It looks like it's easier to just take a picture of the back of your prop, put it in the background and just click on the pixels in order. This is cool but probably needs some integration work to make it seemless.
I asked on the DIY Christmas forum, but got no answer. Do you know if these summit sessions will be recorded? Unfortunately, i will not be in wifi range this weekend.
I tried finding contact info on the Virtual Christmas Summit page but couldn't find any... Maybe you would know the answers to my question/ could put me in contact with the people that do? Do you know how to find out if they will allow screen recording in Zoom during the classes or will have the video available for a certain time afterwards for others to View? I know other online events usually allow the content viewable for about a week so I just wanted to make sure!
You happen to know when we should should get email confirmation for the Zoom rooms and PWs? I signed up a few days ago and nothing... Thanks if you know and can share :)
Haha. I'm just hoping to get it before the class since this is the first time they've tried it. lol! I'm teaching a class and haven't received anything, but assume it will come in the next couple of days.
@@CanispaterChristmas Other night it was still 104 at 11pm. Crazy..... Supposed to get down to 109 or so, but we were hovering around 112 this afternoon.

Haha! Yeah, I had to be quick before I started sweating. Fortunately, we got a huge cold front through. Only 95 now. :)
CanispaterChristmas I know it’s so nice out now! I’m up in Cedar Park.
I purchased the same flakes from EFL. He has an xlights model that he sent me. Very pleased with it so far

I'm not sure and it may have changed over time. You might want to post in the Facebook group and ask. There really isn't a standard anymore. lol.

For better result we can change the background for a green screen like a blanket or bed sheet.
Do you mean put something behind the prop to increase the contrast? Yes, I think Keith mentions that in his video.
Great video. Can you tell me what end of the pixel string is wired as pin #1 (male or female)?

Hi Jeff, Haven't heard from you for awhile, hope you and your family are doing OK.
You must not be getting notifications. This was 6 videos ago. 😂

Thank you.

I haven't heard either way, but I assume so. They may not want to advertise that right now though so people will show up. :)

Look for Ed Smith in the "Official xLights Support Group" on Facebook. I believe they will record, but not sure of the details.
