I just purchased a 2016 with the 1.5T has 78k on it. I'm getting all sorts of codes p0014,P0641,p0011,p0341,p0366 and more. I'm guessing it needs to be timed at first I thought it was a cracked piston as that's the common issue. My problem is there aren't any complete timing kit available.
I haven't looked up the codes. But if you can figure out what parts you need you could get them off of a GM parts online. I wouldn't think the gears or chain would be wore out. Make sure the right oil and filter are right . There is a tensioner that's ran by oil pressure. There gears on the end of the cams that perhaps are not working correctly. I would take it to a dealer and like them do the diagnostic. They have the special equipment to find the problem. Probably cost $100
I lined up the marks did whole new twnsioner and all but when put back together started up just fine but then went out of time so then relined everything and marks lined up then hand cranked it over multiple times and again went out of wack any ideas
I just had to change my exhaust camshaft, how tight is the timing chain supposed to be, I’m not sure mine is tight enough, I also can’t find videos on how to reset the tensioner with removing the timing chain cover
I have value timing codes and the car hesitated when taking off. I'm mechanically inclined but have never dug this far into the engine. But cost wise I think im going to have to do the job. Is the chain pre marked when you purchase it? Also any other tips to look out for or special tools I might need? Thanks in advance
Chain is premarket and I bought the injection tool to pull them out. Might want to see how to remove the vale cover ruclips.net/video/jE-283RM0eQ/видео.html Injection puller ruclips.net/video/8IuIBQ1I-VE/видео.html another video of removing the balancer ruclips.net/video/ggJVvDfayxc/видео.html remove timing chain cover ruclips.net/video/7EHL91FKark/видео.html

@@ezracarrizales23 I ready can't answer that question because I never did that to see what would happen. All I did was did what the institution said to do. But it is an interesting question. I would of thought the world line back up at some time.

@@SawmillerSmith ok definitely have some homework..thanks for the tips
This might be your problem www.gmpartscorp.com/p/Chevrolet_2018_Malibu/Engine-Variable-Valve-Timing-VVT-Solenoid/94403820/12701385.html
@@SawmillerSmith that is definitely better price wise and a good start thank you
I did little more research..the codes my car throws are p0017 and p0016 the vvt solenoid is different codes. I had hopes tho lol
did you change the reluctor?
The marks on my chain are moving and not lining up after I hand spin the motor that's not normal right ?
I've never hand cranked the engine over by hand to see if they lined back up so I'm not able to answer that question.
After future research the answer is yes that's normal. They don't want the marks line up because that would make things wear out quickly.
Do u need a special tool to sent the sprockets in place
No

Just line up the making from the chain to the cam Sprockets, and the cam and crank sprocket. That's all you have to match up.
So is it normal for the markings on the chain to move positions from the marks on the cam sprocket when spun by hand?
