    Tried it.
    Much harder than it looks.
    But without this video, I would have never figured it out on my own.
    Thanks

      Thanks for not telling people they need to come in and pay 50 bucks for a battery. Some places would do that!

    Excellent much needed video. Another example of over-engineering. A simple battery compartment designed to make changing the battery a challenge with a high risk of damaging the fine small (unnecessary) movable pieces which add nothing to make this easy.
    Have you ever changed your cabin filter? Another feature poorly designed compliments of Audi. It is clear Audi wants to make the simplest task a dealer item $$$. My 1-year-old Q5 upon starting showed "change battery on remote key". I put a meter on the old battery and it registered 2.95V. I'd say that was still a very good battery. Why the prompt to change the battery? What is up with Audi? No wonder they have such poor resale. My mechanic warned me, If you buy an Audi - get rid of it before the warranty expires.

    Thank you! Your short and very clear instructional video helped me to figure out how-to open the battery tray. No tools needed! Press both sides & wiggles.

    Thanks so much. Not only would I have had the battery label on the wrong side, I also would have slide the battery into the key upside down. This video saved me frustration.

    Thanks- wiggling it was the key- I’ve been yanking on it for the last few minutes and was afraid of breaking my key👍🏼

    Thanks for your video! My 2nd key was hard to work with. It looked like the previous owner had dropped it in the mud. Your video shows where the battery compartment joins the "permanent" part of the fob, which was very helpful. I had been using plyers at the wrong place. What finally worked for me was to use kitchen shears which had a bottle-gripping feature. I was able to grip both tabs with the shears and wiggle the shears, saving my fingers. :) Fortunately there was no dirt inside the battery compartment.

    HUGE thanks for this video and also to commenters who also found ways to get the stubborn battery compartment out. As mentioned by others, a wide rubber band (for non-slip protection of the tabs) and a jar opener did the trick perfectly. 😊😊😊

    This didn't work till we used a thin, strong cord to pull it out while holding the tabs in. After time the battery tray gets sticky to the fob case and trying force, wiggling, and a even screwdriver wasn't enough to get proper purchase and direction. Kudos to my wife, Debbie.

    I tried this, and it is not working. I can not get the battery case out, and I do not understand why they would make it this way. I have been trying to wiggle it and ended up hurting my fingers. I’ve tried pliers, a screwdriver. Please, help.

    • @BryanNewton
      @BryanNewton  4 года назад +1

      I would not suggest using pliers or a screwdriver, As this may damage your key and this key is very expensive to replace. @0:32 by holding in the small clips on each side of key you should be able to wiggle out/pull out the battery tray. I hope that helps!

    The “wiggling” is tough. I placed the tip of a tweezer or surgical forcep in the groove of the plastic case at the proximal edge and the lasting tray came out. Crucial to have the key fob kept on the same plane so you do not try to place it back upside down. Thanks for or clear lip.
