The SS Jumbo absolutely is not some run of the mill paper thin wood board. Its a chunky bat one of the greatest ever. My father has one from his FC days and it compares really well with my 2011 GN Oblivion LE. The middle in the Jumbo is for sure better and longer. GN oblivion middle was a little wider.

There's a problem with the thinking of current fitness coaches. They don't allow tearaway bowlers to go all out. They force them to hold back so they can play more series. Even 10-15 yrs back, fast bowlers had a mind of their own and wont bother sending someone to the hospital if they were pissed off. They dont produce the likes of them anymore.

Man I loved watching Viv bat (and bowl) when I was a kid in the 80’s. I used to pretend I was him when playing cricket all the time.
To do this to one of the fastest bowlers of all time, without a helmet, no chest guard, uncovered pitches, not too many batting manuals or coaches, not too many videos to look at to get used to the action, infact very few tours maybe once in 4 years to get used to someone's action, no ipl, no fitness training at current level, no bowling machines, no simulation and bang, that's the shot.
Imagine what a player He would have been with all these aids!!! A pure natural!!!!
