So many wonderful memories come flooding back when I see this beautiful video. They began in the late 50's when my mother designed a house about 200 metres north of the martelo tower, and called it "Monks Meadow". It was named such, as there was a weather vane on the roof with a monk on it, and each year we would let the grass grow until it was knee high and then cut it back. Hence the name Monks Meadow. Over time we decided to cut it all together and then we had a wonderful lawn on which we would play cricket, and practice golf. We even had a heated salt water swimming pool. I can remember swimming at both the Low Rock and the High Rock, cycling to Malahide, galloping along Portmarnock Beach on horse back, and hearing the children play on the beach whilst I stood on the roof of the house. Sadly the house has vanished, but the name Monks Meadow is still there, as are the wonderful memories. Thank you Emma for posting this lovely video. I have been living here in Australia for close to 50 years, but someday soon, I hope to travel back to this beautiful coastline, to re-live my childhood memories.
