My doula trainer used this in her childbirth class! It really does make a difference when you have support and distraction! Thank you! I love all of your videos!
@@birthtoolbox I did try this and it was a huge help... everyone who assisted in my daughters birth was so impressed with how I was able to breathe and progress through my contractions, kept telling me to teach a class... practice with the ice showed me how to get my mind prepared for the pain and how to respond to it, only took a couple tries but once my brain was locked in I knew exactly what to do....thank you so much
Great idea for visual and auditory and physical rolled into one session! I had stopped using ice in classes but I totally see it as a research project for my students as time does not allow in our hospital based classes 👍
Thank u for the practice video. 🙂 Honestly tho when ice cubes get an comfortable u can drop them but when labor pains get intense u have no turning back but to hang in there. First time moms dnt be fooled. Its good to practice tho u know what's coming Am a third time mom but hey these labor pains . U can never practise enough peeeew😑
Mi wife is 38 weeks ,we be doing this since 1 week.. She insist we are on this togheter . Te problem here is my buythole is been 8 months numb and chill. Is this normal?
This is great, but would have preferred a guided meditation and less annoying / more soothing music for the contractions part. That really makes a big difference in the way I perceive pain
@@birthtoolbox haha yes, I get it but found another class that put soothing music and it helped me not even feel the pain spread from my hand at all.. it was a coping technique and worked wonders along with visualization. Thanks a lot for the birth a to z course, I've purchased it for 99 cents and I'm going thru it, and it's really great so far. I appreciate all the effort and knowledge you've put in it! I was feeling underprepared but now as I'm going through it, I'm feeling more and more confident. Cheers Alice!!
I'm so glad that you are finding value in the Birth A to Z course. For just $2.99 a month you can join the channel and get access to my entire childbirth couse ($199 value!) If you like A to Z you will love that course!
When I focused on breathing and focusing on the video I forgot about the cold for a bit….. whenever I started to notice the cold again I began to focus on my breathing and the line in the video again to distract me
LOL. I find it interesting how holding ice really effects people differently. I have had some students cry during this practice, but others didn't find it even remotely uncomfortable.
Yeah :) I think it’s still helpful though.. if you can learn to be intentional about relaxing your body through moments of both discomfort and pain and harness your natural pain killers through different avenues you can help your body do the same with contractions :)
Was ready to be done at 19 sec. i just told myself to get through it. I can make it. It’s gonna be over before I know it. I just breathed through it and had to walk around. Before I knew it, it was done and I actually went over the time. But I have to say, to constantly go through it every five minutes or 2 minutes is a bit nerve wrecking
Use this video to practice your coping techniques OR use this video in your childbirth class!

Yes, this is a great exercise. I am glad that you are enjoying the videos. Thank you for letting me know too!
I love this. Considering using it with my clients.
Absolutely! Please do!
Whoo! First time doing it I only lasted like 10 seconds. Glad I found this video to work on it and daily and gradually work my way up.
Yes, Nora!! Daily practice with your breath and coping will be great.
What a great idea! I didn't try it, because I am in labor, lol, but definitely good for others and the future!
Yahoo!!
This is so helpful...34 weeks and i plan to do this with my husband
Great!! Practice can really help!!
Just following up to see if you tried this and if it helped out with labor? Love to hear feedback and your experience.

Yes Kaye, we practice with ice, but it's impossible to get a REAL practice.
From which week it’s best to try
I think at the start of the third trimester is great!
First viewer, first comment 💪🏻
Yes you are! What did you think of the video? Have you tried this before?

That part was annoying on purpose to make it feel less comfortable!!

This one minute lasts longer than one minute in a plank 😂
REALLY?? It is interesting how different people react.
If you put your ice in little ziploc baggies, it won't melt everywhere ;)
Great tip Nicole! Sometime I say that the practice is messy, but so is birth. 😂
Camee on! You just looking for razon to do that!
It works!

YES!!! that’s excellent!!!
But holding ice is NOT even close to a contraction.

Does this help during labour, I mean can I hold on to the ice during labor or it only worsens it

Great work practicing!! Next time try breathing and swaying back and forth. That’s a good strategy to try.
