    EDIT 10th June: realme GT Neo 3 will be launching in Singapore on 15th June, and it's the 80W version with larger battery which I think is better. So would recommend waiting to see the price first.
    Extra Info!!!
    My unit's Widevine is just L3 for some reason, so no HD content on Netflix. But since the unit I have is a Chinese variant that has been flashed with 10R's firmware, I can't say for sure if this affects all OnePlus Ace or 10R. I can't even say for sure if this is for my unit only or whether it will affect all OnePlus Ace flashed with 10R's firmware. So while I decided not to talk about it in my review since i was unsure, I thought it was still worth mentioning here. Still not a deal breaker for me though since I almost never watch Netflix on my phone.
    Also, if you can understand chinese, the video I referenced at 2:10 is worth a watch for sure (link below). It's the most comprehensive analysis and in-depth comparison I've seen when it comes to recent smartphone chipsets, including the Dimensity 8100 of course.

    Definitely lost track of these budget phones that Oneplus is pumping out at an incredible rate, but enjoyed this review. Looks clean, and feels like a great option if you're just using the phone for social media/videos and taking normal photos.

      yeah. for me the only reason i was interested in this particular one was the dimensity chip. don't really care as much about the other budget phones they released recently. 🤣I might even add that it's good for gaming on the go too considering its performance.

    The dimensity 8100 is a, great chip set. Which can't be said about recent Qualcomm releases. This a good offering from one plus, and it's basically the Realme gt neo 3.
    Very good review. Well done 👍👍

      Thanks! Yeah, i think most phones with this chip will probably provide a good value proposition. So pretty much can just pick and choose whichever is cheaper or more convenient to get! the realme gt neo 3 might be even better since it has a glass back too. Just too bad that it's not available in that many market yet. Can only hope we'll see more phones with this chip soon!😂

    MediaTek have really come along way and right now are superior to Qualcomm but since this shift is relatively new most people still think of MediaTek as being inferior but this situation will change quickly as more MediaTek phones are released.

    • @axhng
      @axhng  2 года назад +1

      indeed. i wasn't a fan of their chips in the past, but their recent chips from the dimensity series has been pretty decent. and this year with the D8100 (D9000 too based on reviews), I might even say that they're doing an amazing job. though I'm sure partly has to do with Qualcomm going with Samsung fab instead of TSMC. 😂 Hopefully they can keep up the good work though and not waste this opportunity that Qualcomm has handed them.

      I’m really impressed with there recent socs. I’ve used a variety of mid and low end socs from them over the years and have generally been disappointed. But it seems they have really steeped it up. Only thing that makes me worry is the modem as I’ve read they still are very weak in that area depending on where you live. Qualcomm is hard to beat there.

    Hi Alex, thanks for the review. I am actually looking at this phone and realme gt neo 3. But recently I came to notice there is another version of ace, racing edition, with a lcd panel.
    Reason: I have been using samsung amoled phones for my last 2 phones and, could be because of me pressing the screen abit harding while playing games, my screens both with become damage, developing a few lines. So I am thinking of a lcd panel.
    Hope you can have a chance to review the racing edition. Thanks again

    • @axhng
      @axhng  2 года назад

      HI there! I saw the Racing Edition too though probably won't be reviewing it though since the pricing is kinda similar to the price i paid for the Ace at this point and there isn't a global version yet? which means no global ROM or anything like that. also from some comparisons i've seen from Chinese reviewers, the quality of the LCD seems kinda meh. there is another option recently too which is the Redmi Note 11T Pro which has dimensity 8100 and an LCD screen too, and that should have a better screen I think. Though still no global ROM as far as I know for now. 😂

      @axhng  Год назад +1

      thanks! hmm, have not tried the realme 9 pro+ but the dimensity 8100 should perform a lot better than the dimensity 920, and the software is likely a bit cleaner than realme UI as well. Not sure how important that is for you, but personally i feel like the extra headroom in performance would be good to have even if you don't game. it will help the phone run better in the long run. so if the price difference isn't huge, i would choose this over the realme.

    If you want a glass back version or basically a twin go for the Reame GT Neo 3 5g. Literal twins, sibling from a different mother. Tho Realme's UI or software is inferior than Oxygen OS so keep than in mind when you will pick GT Neo 3
    Edit: Realme GT NEO 3 is also a bit cheaper at least here in the Philippines (7-8 dollars) might not sound that bug but a pretty big difference for us

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Год назад

      unfortunately i have no way of testing this since i don't have the adapter/cable. But i would be very careful about that info though since the 10R is using a USB-C 2.0 port. I have seen tests for the realme gt neo3 and it doesn't support that function, and my guess is the 10R won't as well since they share similar hardware inside.

    Planning on getting this phone too. My option is only to import the china variant with global rom from installed. I am quite intrigued with the fast charging, longer software update compare to the realme gt neo 3. in competition, what's available is the poco f4 and x4 gt. My only problem is your previous comment. I mostly watch movies in netflix which Idk if widevine l3 is enough. hmmm

    • @axhng

      i did find it to be a bit softer looking for netflix at L3 since the screen isn't exactly small and it's an OLED panel. still watchable, but probably not the best experience if you watch a ton of netflix on your phone. saw someone who flashed ACE to 10R firmware on XDA and they seem to be on L3 too. Tried looking for feedback on aliexpress but haven't seen any regarding widevine sadly. :/

      I think realme will probably sell it in more countries since they just started doing so in a few SEA countries. here in SG, the realme gt neo 3's pricing is a lot more worth it compared to OnePlus Ace too. though something to note as well is that while realme UI is similar, it seems to have more extra apps (and some ads that can be turned off) based on feedback from a friend who bought it. that's probably why they can sell it cheaper, whereas it's cleaner on OxygenOS 12. so that could be another factor to consider as well.
