Personally, Fluttershy's extremes are part of the reason I find her so relatable. I've always struggled with the angry/timid duality that Fluttershy does and seeing a character expressing that and fighting to get through it is a huge source of inspiration to me and puts her close to being my favourite tbh
This may seem a bit too radical to post on a MLP video, but I think that the reason that most people don't understand Fluttershy, not necessarily dislike, is because they don't really know what an introvert is. I didn't finally get a clear definition of what an introvert is until a few months before my 18th birthday. I think this is because of societal standards. We expect our kids to go out, make hundreds of friends, be able to go out and do activities with all of them, and even have a part in school activities. This does not include the other half of the work load required of kids such as keeping up good grades, getting a job later in adolescence, and household chores. Basically I feel like society defines an introvert as a hermit, and they try to make hermits look as unappealing as possible to encourage kids not to be introverts, and that just pains me. This is why Fluttershy will always have a place in my heart despite not being my favorite. She may be introverted, but she's not a hermit. Keep being you, Fluttershy.
I'm an introvert but I totally respect extraverts. Most of my friends are extraverted. Something that bothers me is that I don't want to be a burden, I'm afraid no one will understand me. There's certain things people with opposite views can accept and listen and understand, and there's certain things people do not understand, think is weird and don't want to hear anything else about it. It's kind of like the mlp fandom actually.
I agree with the being in a special place in my heart despite not being my favorite. Pinkie will always be best pony BC MAH GOD YASS PARTY PONY PINKIE IS BEST!! Also I have ADHD, and there is a theory Pinkie has ADHD, soooo I sorta relate to her a lot UwU Anyway, I sorta relate to Fluttershy, but I also don't. That's why i'm on the third party of "meh". I feel like everyone divides the world into introverts or extroverts, but I feel like i'm both. I enjoy company and have fun being with other people. When I'm ignored or feel lonely, it hurts a lot. But, I also am ok by myself. I can enjoy just thinking with my thoughts on the playground with nobody to talk to. That part also channels with my social anxiety. I call myself an ixtrovert... or an entrovert...

I myself am an introvert with extroverted tendencies so I don't really like socializing with other people, but when I do, it's a nice turn of events for me because something will make me be more social.
Fluttershy is my favorite character (aside from Discord) because of how much I can relate to her. While there are some who might find that Fluttershy's repeated lessons about overcoming a fear or going outside of her comfort zone as repetitive, I see it as realistic. As an introvert, and someone who struggles with severe social anxiety, I know it's definitely not an easy thing to deal with, and may never go away. But despite all the hurdles she faces, she still finds a way to handle things, be it step up to face your fears, or step back when something isn't for you, but not letting that affect others. also, fuzzylegs is adorable, what are you talking about?
I think, Silver, you'll be pleased to know that an upcoming episode is going to be focused on Fluttershy and her younger brother. We'll also be seeing her parents for the first time.
Fluttershy is my favorite for probably the same reasons plus also being introverted like she is. Probably the character I most relate to out of any show I watch!
Being somebody with aspergers, I can really relate to Fluttershy: being introverted, finding more comfort with animals, not always being conscious of my surroundings, and not having a set goal in life. Fluttershy isn't the only introvert in the group. Twilight is as well. She has never been energized by social situations, and the part of social gatherings that she most looks forward to is breaking away to enjoy one on one time with a particular pony. Lately, she's felt the pressure to force herself to act the extrovert, because that's what she thinks is expected of her as a princess (not to mention four of her closest friends are extroverts). She's still learning how to balance her dominant introverted traits with her secondary extroverted traits.
+AtarahDerek I find that Twilight is very energized by social gatherings. It's only when the focus falls 100% upon herself that she becomes uncomfortable. I view both Twilight and Applejack and ambiverts. They are a nice blend of extroverted and introverted tendencies.

Unless you can argue for why Ne is her dominant function and Fe is NOT her inferior function...
+AtarahDerek I see the point you make and I do see her as a partial introvert, but her the show seems to be trying to get rid of that. Because her past self was such an extrema introvert the shows is trying to say that she's changed from that. Or at least that's what I'm getting from the newer twilight episodes.
This video made me realize something. There are so many times in the show where the other main 5 try to get Fluttershy out and experience something because they think it'll be better for her than wanting to stay in her cottage doing her own thing. Adding to the stigma among extroverts and partial extroverts that if someone is an introvert than there is something wrong with him/her.
Oh this video made me so happy ;u; as an introvert myself, I see a lot of my own struggles in Fluttershy and absolutely adore her. Each time she conquers something I cheer because I've overcome similar obstacles (especially where she had to tell Dash about Tank), and I love that she has no set goal yet. To me it makes her so much more interesting.
You mentioned that when Fluttershy's friends are in trouble, she leaves behind herself for that moment. I think that is very true and logical because it has been seen to be very true of humans that in times of trouble toward a loved one or extreme need from a loved one, they too will leave behind their feelings of fear. A gun man enters into the classroom, the teacher steps in front and tries to fend him off for her children despite her own fear for her own life. A boy is trapped under a car, his mother suddenly gets the strength and adrenaline to pick up the car enough to get her boy out. An extremely introverted father takes his daughter to an extremely crowded comic con because despite his fear of the situation, he knows it is what his daughter wants and her happiness is most desired over his fear. -Thanks by the way for always making such great quality analysis videos that truly make me think and I think that this episode specifically has caused me to appreciate Fluttershy's character even more than I already have.
I think Fluttershy's steady job is that she is a park ranger. Notice how most if not all of the animals that she takes care of are from the forests, her house is just outside the forest, which most park rangers live just outside the park that they tend too, and in one of the comics she has a park ranger uniform. Also, this would make sense why Rainbow dash ended up going to Flutter shy to help heal Tank because Rainbow got tank from the woods, not in a pet store. But that's my theory anyway.
I relate to Fluttershy a lot. I can almost feel her frustration and anxiety when she struggles to speak up and is subsequently bulldozed, intentionally or not, by more outgoing personalities.
I love Fluttershy. She reminds me a lot of myself. This makes me believe that Fluttershy may have Asperger's, the lowest form of Autism, like myself. People with Asperger's are often bullied because others see them as different. I remember crying three times in school because of bulling. Watching Fluttershy grow these last few seasons actually helps me. Loved this video and I hope you get the next episode of season five up soon.
I've always had a great deal of difficulty relating to fluttershy, being her polar opposite. I am an extreme extrovert who suffers from extreme social anxiety - that is, my social anxiety stems from fear of being abandoned, ostracized, or left behind. I don't want to be alone, and I'm most myself when I'm teaching a classroom full of students, because I know I'm inevitably the focal point of the group, and my class kinda CAN'T ditch me. Most of the situations that trigger panic in Fluttershy would be situations I would thrive in, so I find watching her to be frustrating. (With the huge exception of the hurricane fluttershy episode, which had to do with fear of being rejected) Most people don't realize that extroverts can suffer from social anxiety issues, but it IS a thing.
Fluttershy has always been my favorite pony. I guess it's because she's the one I can relate to the most. I've always been extremely shy. The very idea of going out and talking to people, mainly someone new, absolutely terrifies me. I only really had one friend in middle and high school and she meant the world to me. The only time I really ever stepped out of my comfort zone was when she was being bullied and I stepped in to defend her.
Same here, except I would add in Twilight as well. Combine Fluttershy's super soft-spoken nature with Twilight's nerdy tendencies, and I'm what you get.
Fluttershy really has branched out. She's still a twig shy, but at least she leafs her nerves behind when needed. Change though she may, she sticks to her roots as our sappy pony. Where will she go from here? I'm stumped. Also, you used Angel's cuteness for good? You sure are an evil genius!
My favourite pony has been fluctuating between Fluttershy and Rarity for a while but you pretty much ended the fluctuation with this video by reminding me of the things I like about Fluttershy, whilst her character shows an extreme when it comes to how shy she is I can actually relate to certain aspects of her character which I can't for the others.
Honestly you may just have voiced the exact reasons why Fluttershy is my favorite character by far. That and she is by far the most realistic of the mane six. I mean, how many times haven't we seen the other mane six have a negative character trait for one episode, then in the end learn a single lesson and we never see this trait again? That ain't reality. A negative personal trait doesn't just disappear magically, it has to be worked on for years, if not your whole life. It is something one might have to deal with forever and will never truly get over, but only learn how to control and handle in situations where it might surface.
I actually feel like the rest of the Mane 6 have been going through what Fluttershy used to go through as of Season 6 - only problem is, it often feels more like needless regression rather than overused character checks, especially for Twilight (see "No Second Prances", "A Royal Problem", "Horse Play", "Marks for Effort"), Rainbow Dash (see "28 Pranks Later", "Secrets and Pies", "Non-Compete Clause"), and Pinkie (see "Secrets and Pies", "The Maud Couple", "Horse Play", "Yakity-Sax").
I love Fluttershy. I'm an introvert myself. In small groups it's easier to talk and laugh. But social situations like school make it nearly impossible for me to function well. I'm unable to ignore the little sounds that most people can, like the people in class who always whisper, and this has caused a lot of issues for me. I think the biggest struggle is the strong emotions that Fluttershy portrays perfectly. The sudden switches back and forth between her "mega wimp" and "psychopath" are actually very realistic. It's because all of our emotions we tend to hold inside until it's too strong for us to handle and it comes out in extremes. The "mega wimp" is her holding the emotions in and in "The Best Night Ever" when she goes into the "psychopath" it's all her emotions (mostly because the animals were avoiding her when she's used to them coming to her) becoming too strong and coming out. Once all the emotions are out she goes back to how she normally is and the cycle starts again.
I've been under the impression that Fluttershy's future will have something to do with rare and magical creatures, like the Breezies. I'm not sure what that could mean for her specifically though, environmentalist? Habitat Conservationist? Zoologist? Veterinarian? Wildlife Rehabilitator?
I want to add my two cents about the two settings thing. There is such a thing as the assertive speaking spectrum, it's defined by the passive, assertive, and the aggressive. Fluttershy is on the passive side of the scale and seems to find it difficult to be assertive without being aggressive, the passive is usually complacent in allowing others to not only speak over them but to take the lead, usually having their voice be an after thought, but extreme frustration or pressure can cause them to jump to the aggressive and completely skip the assertive part of the scale, without meaning to of course! The passive is used to not getting what they wish for and being unheard but when they feel they need to be heard, either for their own or another's gain, they usually become forced under a large amount of frustration in try to find a medium of assertive but not passive, causing them to become aggressive and exclaiming exactly what they want, this can be seen by others as an extreme jump in their personality and usually they end up classifying that person as potentially psychotic, (which is completely untrue) passives are not used to being assertive and can often go to far or to little and either get want the wished for or lose respect and sometimes friends or not get what they want at all and be forced to leave it be. I can vouch for quite a bit of this! I'm on the passive-assertive part of the scale and even then I can accidentally jump to the aggressive without meaning to when frustrated or pressured. This usually results in people sometimes asking if I have mood altering illness or if I have always been "crazy"-"psychotic"-"mean", many more but most will get the picture. It can cause a huge blow on someone who hates to put others down and to pressure others and especially grinding on people with social anxiety or general anxiety.
This was an amazing video, Silver! As someone who has Asperger's and understands about having a hard time with social interaction, I consider Fluttershy one of my favorite ponies not just because of what she's accomplished, but also because of her kind-natured personality.
I disagree with your assertion that Fluttershy is the only introvert in the group. I would argue that Twilight is as well. She can go and be in a large group comfortably, but her preference is to curl up with a good book and her own thoughts. Applejack also be in introvert. She never cares to be the center of attention and spends a lot of time alone working the fields (and is therefore alone with her thoughts) but she enjoys it and is invigorated by it. Rainbow Dash, Pinkie and Rarity are obvious extroverts as their love of the spotlight, crowds and parties attest. tl;dr Introverts can act like extroverts, but they just don't enjoy it as much.
I agree with you that Twilight is an introvert. Applejack though I am not sure. Compared to Big Mac she is an extrovert but I guess that I guess that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
+MWestover Just because a character or person exhibits certain qualities, doesn't make them an introvert. That label has become too "popular" and a lot of people seem to want to latch onto it and see it everywhere.
+Trevor Hale Introverts make up one third to one half of the world population. Someone who is an introvert is a person who gets their energy from being alone, or encountering less outer stimulation. For example, I am an introvert. I get far more energy being alone or having a deep and meaningful conversation with a good friend than I do by going to the bar or the club or a party. It's not that I dislike doing those things, but they are not my source of life. I would argue that Twilight, while she also enjoys going to parties to be with her friends, does not seek those parties out. You know how in the very first episode she closed herself off from her friends to study? That is her natural state.
I know it would interfere with the "countup" pattern, but I was very surprised to see Discord absent from both the monster victories and the major triumphs. Convincing the spiritual embodiment of disharmony to play nice seems like a very significant achievement. Still, a lovely tribute to your personal best pony.
When people diss Fluttershy, I feel like they're dissing those who love her, or ARE her, in a way. People need to remember that introverts can't always be trusted to take harsh backtalk either.
A person that rests and regains energy from time spent alone is, in my opinion, the necessary and sufficient condition to define an introvert. The characteristics that you stated afterwards, however, really seem to fit more to the description of the Asperger's syndrome. Yet, all introverts do not have Asperger's. Ultimately this all boils down to a vocabulary problem, which often don't really matter, but I do believe that it matters for some introverts (as I first described them) not to be automatically confused with Aspies.
Actually the outbursts futtershy had are kinda common among introverts at least the ones i know. They prefer to bottle up negative emotions and eventually. The bottle explodes. Leading to that. And some (like me) have a temper on them. Imagine this a introvert with a naturally LOUD voice has trouble being quiet and has a short fuse. Thats me. And more times than not. When i get into a mood. Its hard to get me out of it with out waiting or distracting me
I have to add that the character of the many comments before mine is impressive. We're honestly discussing personality traits and how they function (or dysfunction) in society, and we're using as examples characters from a animated show that was carefully and knowingly designed to give life lessons to children. None of my friends appreciate MLP-FIM as I do; they think I'm just an adult who has odd childish tendencies. But the fact that we're having this discussion shows the depth and maturity of MLP-FIM. (BTW, I'm a male INTP retired software engineer, with OCD kept in check by meds. Of the Mane 6, I'm most like Twilight, yet Fluttershy was clearly my favorite pony from the start.)
I'm finding it very odd that people say they don't like Fluttershy because she reminds them too much of themselves. I actually really love Fluttershy because I share a surprising amount of similarities with her, including the constant anxiety. She's a reminder to me that I'm not alone with my struggle, and that I can always get better. Even if it's something that will, unfortunately, stick with me forever, it doesn't mean I can't become a stronger person and rise like a phoenix from the ashes with even the smallest victories.
@MLP-Silver-Quill Thank you for this video Silver! Fluttershy is the pony I identify with the most. While I am nowhere near the extreme she is, I do share some of her insecurities as well as her passions. While I haven't finished creating my pony-sona yet, I do know that she and Fluttershy will be the best of friends when they meet. So thank you for celebrating her!
I was bullied for a large portion of my life and it HAS taken a large toll on me mentally and emotionally, much like with Fluttershy...I have no confidence in myself, I see myself as ugly and not worthy of love or basic human interaction, and I feel as though no matter how many people tell me otherwise I'm not good at anything I do. I try to sing but memory of a really rude ex getting annoyed at my repetition to learn lyrics, comes to mind and I avoid doing so unless I'm alone. I try to write but the memory of someone telling me my writing sucked and I should stop trying plays and I close my laptop. I try to make myself look nice with a cute outfit and a little make up, then the memory of everyone in my school calling me worthless and ugly every day grips me and I just quit trying. People often assume that you can just move past words, that they can't hurt you after they've been said long ago but characters like Fluttershy show that this isn't true. Words you say to people can hurt anytime you say them, be it in person or in someone else's memory you can't avoid hurtful words. Fluttershy couldn't get past what ponies said in her past, bullying her for being a weak flier despite how she got better as the years went on. Because of this she continuously thought she wasn't good enough to make a difference...this is one of the things I struggle with daily. The funny thing is...I'm most like Fluttershy personality wise, but I have the reactions and thinking of ponies like Rainbow Dash or AppleJack. I can be stubborn, arrogant, and a bit hard to handle at times. I also have problems with being too introverted, shy, anxious, unsure of myself, and 9 times out of 10 I actually prefer my six dogs to any amount of human interaction I could have. This is mainly due to the fact that animals don't judge you based on how you look or how you sing...they love you no matter how weird you are and like Fluttershy I take great joy in being with my animals. I don't like large crowds and I would prefer to stay to myself if given the choice, but if I'm with people I know and are comfortable around I can be really energetic and out going. I respect Fluttershy because I go through her struggles every day, I feel the fear and anxiety she feels for a lot of things, and I appreciate that she learns the lessons she learns because I need to learn them too...I need to break out of my shell, take a couple of risks and believe in myself more. So, no matter how late I say, thank you Fluttershy.
I can't be the only one who still loves Fluttershy and still my best pony, despite all her flaws. I'd be a shallow man if I didn't. #HappyFluttershyDay
Fluttershy is my favourite of the Mane 6. I know how much bullying affected my confidence, so building myself up has been a struggle. I have dreams and ambitions related to helping others overcome their problems, reach their goals and maximise their potential. I also love Starlight because betrayal after betrayal from friends, I've become more reserved and don't really like reaching out to people unless we share a similar struggle, similar passion or we just get along well for a while. In becoming better at recognising and enforcing my boundaries and becoming more confident. I'm still an introvert at heart, but I can't say that I don't enjoy being with friends at university or going to an event because it's about something I love. No way would I go to a massive event like an annual psychology conference if it wasn't about psychology. We can talk about similar things and get know one another because we share a similar passion. There's no way I would get up to dance in front of everyone if my friends weren't there to do the same thing and wouldn't go out of my way to dance in a competition if I didn't have my friends support. Heck, I freaked out about the uni presentation because there at people in my seminar group that I don't know. But, because it was near Christmas, I decided to be a bit goofy and dress up as Mrs Claus to give everyone a good laugh to relax us before our presentation!
I love Fluttershy because she's exactly who I am. I have quite the low self-esteem and I am pretty much an introvert, but I act a little more extrovert around my close friends. I tend to act for myself or for others and I have a huge passion for animals. In fact, I want to work with animals. I tend to see things in people that others do not see and my personality can change when I'm introduced to something that I am passionate about. Besides that, i know when to be assertive and honest, even if it isn't the best choice. She's my best pony because she represents me and she helps me every day with being the person that I want to be.
I'm convinced that looking after the animals IS Fluttershy's steady job. She's a civil servant, working under an Equestrian government agency tasked with fauna management. In a world where the weather has to be micromanaged, having the animals require a management as well isn't too much of a stretch.
Introverts unite! I realy realy would rather be at home and watch a movie witg a few friends or on my own with some delicious snacks. But i have had my moments that even seeying alot of people like say a busy market i would instantly feel scared and stressed a bit. Even now i have those moments but i know how to deal with them mostely:)
I love Fluttershy. Her quiet strength and her growth over the years make her my favourite. She not only curb-stomped Dash in the cold open to 'Dragon Quest,' but was the key to showing Discord that friendship was more important to him than being in control of the world around him. She earns others' respect through persuasion and her own abilities rather than through force, and she has addressed many fears -- in a smart way that shows how they do not go away even once confronted. Fluttershy can be singing like a Disney princess one moment, and contributing the needed factor for a victory the next. The Mane6's opposition underestimate her at their own peril, but really I believe that Fluttershy is Best Princess -- no transformation necessary, because she already possesses the necessary power within her. All she really needs to do is discover it for herself and bring it out as the situation calls for it. I hadn't thought of Fluttershy's lack of ambition, but you're right, Quill. She has no set goal or reason why she would want power in the first place. Maybe this is why Discord had such a hard time with her in 'The Return of Harmony.' This lack of ambition is something I probably unconsciously mirrored when I created Gearhead, for whom family is everything, and whose older sister Ivy has absolutely no ambition of her own. It's fun to think of how things like that may have influenced my writing. Gearhead's central characteristic is 'gratitude,' and there's nopony he's more grateful toward since his arrival in Ponyville than Fluttershy.

I got to a point where I realized I may have left some things inconsistent, and decided I should go back over the material before I launched into Book 4.
I'll be completely honest. When I first started watching the show, Fluttershy was my number one favourite out of the Mane Six because of how adorable I found her and her timidity. However as time went on and I became more interested in the analysis community, she started to slip down on my best-to-worst Mane Six list. I began noticing that she was constantly learning the same lessons over and over before going back to square one in her next episode: Fluttershy's timid, ponies try to get her to stop being timid, she stands up for herself, becomes less shy, immediately forgets the lesson in her next episode. I certainly didn't dislike her but I felt like she was being adored just for being cute and nothing more. However, after It Ain't Easy Being Breezies aired, that's when I saw Fluttershy finally start to grow. Throughout Season 5, she was absolutely wonderful. She remembered the lesson she learnt in that episode and carried it over to episodes like Tanks for the Memories, Make New Friends But Keep Discord and The Hooffields and McColts. It was then that I began to realise Fluttershy was finally growing and taking big steps into developing. And I can certainly appreciate her for that. Happy Fluttershy Day, everyone!
I'm going to contend the point that Fluttershy is the group's only introvert, because while she's certainly the MOST introverted, Twilight also falls neatly into this category. Yes, she's socially adept, and a natural leader, but she also sticks mostly to a single group of friends, treats all other social interaction as either a formality or a learning opportunity, and recharges by locking herself in her house for a weekend and sorting through her book collection. It's the classic fallacy of conflating introvertedness with shyness, and extrovertedness with social competence. I know several people who are outgoing socializers in public who get home and just collapse because all that socializing exhausts them. Conversely, I'm an ambivert, leaning more toward extroverted, but if you saw me in a social setting, I'll bet you $10 you would peg me as an introvert, because I have high functioning autism, and accordingly have no social skills.
This was a very nice overview and explanation of why Fluttershy is your fav. She isn't mine ... rather the opposite, in fact ... but you explained it well and it was fun and enjoyable. There is one thing I want to bring up and hope you'll find a way to address in upcoming reviews. You used the term "peer pressure" while showing a clip of Fluttershy refusing to use her Element on Discord in 'Keep Calm and Flutter On.' But you also show a clip of Twilight encouraging Fluttershy to participate in the tornado in 'Hurricane Fluttershy,' something Fluttershy clearly didn't want to do and wouldn't have done without Twilight's intervention. Couldn't that be just as easily called peer pressure too? I'll admit, a big reason why I am not a Fluttershy fan is because I share a lot of traits with her. Not her kindness, sadly, but her timidity, a desire to avoid unpleasant situations and a poor track record when it comes to self-advocacy. What growth I have achieved came largely through the intervention of people pushing me to try things that I would never have done of my on. While this could be called 'peer pressure' calling it that carries a distinctly negative connotation when that's not always the case. An intervention for a bad habit, for instance, could just as easily be described as peer pressure. Societal norms and cultural standards--both the good and the bad, can be described the same way. It's not as simple as "if you're being pressured, therefore that's automatically bad." I get frustrated with Fluttershy as a character sometimes because it feels like there are times when she does something that I feel SHOULD be called out, but she's allowed to get away with because of how scared and cute she is ... while the character(s) trying to get her to come out of her shell are made to come off as insensitive or uncaring. "Scare Master" is a rather notorious instance of this, for me at least. Nopony tries to tell Fluttershy how frankly inane her fears of taffy or bobbing for apples were. They just gloss over it and try to do something else instead. And we were supposed to think Rainbow Dash was a insensitive jerk for not wanting to put up with with that nonsense. I know from personal experience that being told to "suck it up!" is not the answer. You obviously can't be bullied into being brave or outgoing. But bending over backwards to avoid getting someone to confront a real problem isn't a solution either. I'm sure I'll have more to comment when you actually review that episode, but I would like you to try to explain how and when encouragement/pressure from one's friends becomes good or bad. Why Rarity's assurances to Fluttershy at the end of "Filli Vanilli" or forcing her to go onstage in "Hearth's Warming Eve" were seen as a good thing, but her friends telling her to stop Discord or to go watch the Dragon Migration in "Dragon Quest" were bad things.
I can relate to Fluttershy because, I am an intervert, I love nature, I am protective towards my friends even throwing a plastic knife at a kid that made one cry, and I was bullied.

I don't understand your need for a character to have an ultimate desire. I've seen multiple times on this channel the implication that for some reason if a character doesn't want to achieve something big, it's either a hindrance on their character or a build-up to when they eventually will have a dream. (Spike, Moondancer, and now Fluttershy) There are people who are happy with the way they live life and only change when the situation calls for it. And I find these characters just as interesting, if not moreso, than the ones who do have a goal to strive for.
Thank you. I already appreciated Fluttershy when Season 5 did a better job than the past seasons in presenting her more as an introvert, but this made me appreciate her even more. I'm really looking forward for more Fluttershy episodes.

What makes Twilight an introvert, above all else, is her dominant cognitive function, which is introverted Thinking. I'm more a hybrid of Luna and Fluttershy. I try to be like aj though the way I express my passion is both in singing and writing. What can I say? I'm ok with just a small handful of friends

I'm meh on her. Even with her "baby steps", it seems like her character doesn't develop much. There's also the point of her being everything I've worked so hard to overcome. As a kid, I used to have crippling social anxiety. Eventually I just stopped caring what others think of me and the anxiety eventually leveled off and now has all but vanished. Although to be honest, I mask some of my insecurities by being rather arrogant, which may not be the best way to go. In any case, Fluttershy is just too boring for me. She's too pure and innocent to be interesting as a character.

Seeing her overcome her struggles and learn to cope with ones that are long term are the kinds of things suited for her character. That being said, it does aggravate me that she learns the exact same lessons and hasn't grown as much as the rest of the main cast.
I still have an extreme case of social anxiety at age 35, but it only effects me in the real world, making it hard to keep a job. I keep trying though. Online its easier to manage it because I'm not eye to eye with others. Not caring what others think of me only seems to work online for some reason. Flutters isn't my favorite either, because she reminds me too much of myself, its haunting. I still "like" her though.
Shes still my least fav of the mane6. Mostly because I see her basic archetype in anime a ton, plus that archetype tends to have a very defensive fanbase. Like, if anyone is mean to their wifu then they must defend them. I saw this with Luna too, who I want to like but her fanbase turned me off to her. A character must be able to stand on their own legs, overly defensive fans prevent that.

Flutters isn’t even in my top 3 but dammit she is absolutely wonderful and I adore her. She’s cute and as an introvert myself I find myself relating to her a good bit. I’ve also really enjoyed her character growth in recent seasons. Especially the episode Fluttershy Leans In. She really shined in that episode and I was so proud of her.

Thank you for this beautiful video + beautiful song and artwork at the end! AJ's my fav outta the main six but Fluttershy is a very close second. Very close. They are the two characters I relate to the most, with Twilight being third because bookz, so it makes sense I'd like them so much and the episodes starring them and their struggles. Intrigued by the idea you posed as to what her goals could be in her future, and the first thing I thought of was hardcore magical beast tamer. She'd ride atop a mighty dragon with countless other monsters at her side, vanquishing evil wherever she went, and hold the quietest of tea parties.
Great video! Fluttershy is indeed fantastic -- my second favorite pony after Pinkie. I really hope we see more of her this season -- I felt like she didn't get nearly enough screentime last season.
Fluttershy has always been my favorite, and Filly Vanilli has been my favorite episode. I'm not introverted like Fluttershy, but there has been times when I didn't feel comfortable with something most people do normally. I felt ashamed that it seemed that I wasn't normal. When she said baby steps even after everything, it brough about a sigh of relief, and a warm feeling. It's okay to be anxious about things, and its okay to go at your own pace....even when others think you should move faster. Looking back, I'm still amazed by how much cartoons can teach adults if you tune into them.

Personally, Fluttershy's extremes are part of the reason I find her so relatable. I've always struggled with the angry/timid duality that Fluttershy does and seeing a character expressing that and fighting to get through it is a huge source of inspiration to me and puts her close to being my favourite tbh

This may seem a bit too radical to post on a MLP video, but I think that the reason that most people don't understand Fluttershy, not necessarily dislike, is because they don't really know what an introvert is. I didn't finally get a clear definition of what an introvert is until a few months before my 18th birthday. I think this is because of societal standards. We expect our kids to go out, make hundreds of friends, be able to go out and do activities with all of them, and even have a part in school activities. This does not include the other half of the work load required of kids such as keeping up good grades, getting a job later in adolescence, and household chores.
Basically I feel like society defines an introvert as a hermit, and they try to make hermits look as unappealing as possible to encourage kids not to be introverts, and that just pains me. This is why Fluttershy will always have a place in my heart despite not being my favorite. She may be introverted, but she's not a hermit.

I'm an introvert but I totally respect extraverts. Most of my friends are extraverted. Something that bothers me is that I don't want to be a burden, I'm afraid no one will understand me. There's certain things people with opposite views can accept and listen and understand, and there's certain things people do not understand, think is weird and don't want to hear anything else about it. It's kind of like the mlp fandom actually.

I enjoy company and have fun being with other people. When I'm ignored or feel lonely, it hurts a lot. But, I also am ok by myself. I can enjoy just thinking with my thoughts on the playground with nobody to talk to. That part also channels with my social anxiety. I call myself an ixtrovert... or an entrovert...

Fluttershy always holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite characters from any tv show.
Fluttershy is my favorite character (aside from Discord) because of how much I can relate to her. While there are some who might find that Fluttershy's repeated lessons about overcoming a fear or going outside of her comfort zone as repetitive, I see it as realistic. As an introvert, and someone who struggles with severe social anxiety, I know it's definitely not an easy thing to deal with, and may never go away. But despite all the hurdles she faces, she still finds a way to handle things, be it step up to face your fears, or step back when something isn't for you, but not letting that affect others.

I think, Silver, you'll be pleased to know that an upcoming episode is going to be focused on Fluttershy and her younger brother. We'll also be seeing her parents for the first time.
Fluttershy is my favorite for probably the same reasons plus also being introverted like she is. Probably the character I most relate to out of any show I watch!
Being somebody with aspergers, I can really relate to Fluttershy: being introverted, finding more comfort with animals, not always being conscious of my surroundings, and not having a set goal in life. Fluttershy isn't the only introvert in the group. Twilight is as well. She has never been energized by social situations, and the part of social gatherings that she most looks forward to is breaking away to enjoy one on one time with a particular pony. Lately, she's felt the pressure to force herself to act the extrovert, because that's what she thinks is expected of her as a princess (not to mention four of her closest friends are extroverts). She's still learning how to balance her dominant introverted traits with her secondary extroverted traits.
+AtarahDerek I find that Twilight is very energized by social gatherings. It's only when the focus falls 100% upon herself that she becomes uncomfortable. I view both Twilight and Applejack and ambiverts. They are a nice blend of extroverted and introverted tendencies.

+AtarahDerek I see the point you make and I do see her as a partial introvert, but her the show seems to be trying to get rid of that. Because her past self was such an extrema introvert the shows is trying to say that she's changed from that. Or at least that's what I'm getting from the newer twilight episodes.
This video made me realize something. There are so many times in the show where the other main 5 try to get Fluttershy out and experience something because they think it'll be better for her than wanting to stay in her cottage doing her own thing. Adding to the stigma among extroverts and partial extroverts that if someone is an introvert than there is something wrong with him/her.
Oh this video made me so happy ;u; as an introvert myself, I see a lot of my own struggles in Fluttershy and absolutely adore her. Each time she conquers something I cheer because I've overcome similar obstacles (especially where she had to tell Dash about Tank), and I love that she has no set goal yet. To me it makes her so much more interesting.
You mentioned that when Fluttershy's friends are in trouble, she leaves behind herself for that moment. I think that is very true and logical because it has been seen to be very true of humans that in times of trouble toward a loved one or extreme need from a loved one, they too will leave behind their feelings of fear. A gun man enters into the classroom, the teacher steps in front and tries to fend him off for her children despite her own fear for her own life. A boy is trapped under a car, his mother suddenly gets the strength and adrenaline to pick up the car enough to get her boy out. An extremely introverted father takes his daughter to an extremely crowded comic con because despite his fear of the situation, he knows it is what his daughter wants and her happiness is most desired over his fear.

I think Fluttershy's steady job is that she is a park ranger. Notice how most if not all of the animals that she takes care of are from the forests, her house is just outside the forest, which most park rangers live just outside the park that they tend too, and in one of the comics she has a park ranger uniform. Also, this would make sense why Rainbow dash ended up going to Flutter shy to help heal Tank because Rainbow got tank from the woods, not in a pet store. But that's my theory anyway.
I relate to Fluttershy a lot. I can almost feel her frustration and anxiety when she struggles to speak up and is subsequently bulldozed, intentionally or not, by more outgoing personalities.

I love Fluttershy. She reminds me a lot of myself. This makes me believe that Fluttershy may have Asperger's, the lowest form of Autism, like myself. People with Asperger's are often bullied because others see them as different. I remember crying three times in school because of bulling. Watching Fluttershy grow these last few seasons actually helps me. Loved this video and I hope you get the next episode of season five up soon.
I've always had a great deal of difficulty relating to fluttershy, being her polar opposite. I am an extreme extrovert who suffers from extreme social anxiety - that is, my social anxiety stems from fear of being abandoned, ostracized, or left behind. I don't want to be alone, and I'm most myself when I'm teaching a classroom full of students, because I know I'm inevitably the focal point of the group, and my class kinda CAN'T ditch me. Most of the situations that trigger panic in Fluttershy would be situations I would thrive in, so I find watching her to be frustrating. (With the huge exception of the hurricane fluttershy episode, which had to do with fear of being rejected) Most people don't realize that extroverts can suffer from social anxiety issues, but it IS a thing.
Fluttershy has always been my favorite pony. I guess it's because she's the one I can relate to the most. I've always been extremely shy. The very idea of going out and talking to people, mainly someone new, absolutely terrifies me. I only really had one friend in middle and high school and she meant the world to me. The only time I really ever stepped out of my comfort zone was when she was being bullied and I stepped in to defend her.

My favourite pony has been fluctuating between Fluttershy and Rarity for a while but you pretty much ended the fluctuation with this video by reminding me of the things I like about Fluttershy, whilst her character shows an extreme when it comes to how shy she is I can actually relate to certain aspects of her character which I can't for the others.
Honestly you may just have voiced the exact reasons why Fluttershy is my favorite character by far.
That and she is by far the most realistic of the mane six.
I mean, how many times haven't we seen the other mane six have a negative character trait for one episode, then in the end learn a single lesson and we never see this trait again?
That ain't reality.
A negative personal trait doesn't just disappear magically, it has to be worked on for years, if not your whole life. It is something one might have to deal with forever and will never truly get over, but only learn how to control and handle in situations where it might surface.
I actually feel like the rest of the Mane 6 have been going through what Fluttershy used to go through as of Season 6 - only problem is, it often feels more like needless regression rather than overused character checks, especially for Twilight (see "No Second Prances", "A Royal Problem", "Horse Play", "Marks for Effort"), Rainbow Dash (see "28 Pranks Later", "Secrets and Pies", "Non-Compete Clause"), and Pinkie (see "Secrets and Pies", "The Maud Couple", "Horse Play", "Yakity-Sax").
I love Fluttershy. I'm an introvert myself. In small groups it's easier to talk and laugh. But social situations like school make it nearly impossible for me to function well. I'm unable to ignore the little sounds that most people can, like the people in class who always whisper, and this has caused a lot of issues for me.
I think the biggest struggle is the strong emotions that Fluttershy portrays perfectly. The sudden switches back and forth between her "mega wimp" and "psychopath" are actually very realistic. It's because all of our emotions we tend to hold inside until it's too strong for us to handle and it comes out in extremes. The "mega wimp" is her holding the emotions in and in "The Best Night Ever" when she goes into the "psychopath" it's all her emotions (mostly because the animals were avoiding her when she's used to them coming to her) becoming too strong and coming out. Once all the emotions are out she goes back to how she normally is and the cycle starts again.
I've been under the impression that Fluttershy's future will have something to do with rare and magical creatures, like the Breezies. I'm not sure what that could mean for her specifically though, environmentalist? Habitat Conservationist? Zoologist? Veterinarian? Wildlife Rehabilitator?
I want to add my two cents about the two settings thing.
There is such a thing as the assertive speaking spectrum, it's defined by the passive, assertive, and the aggressive.
Fluttershy is on the passive side of the scale and seems to find it difficult to be assertive without being aggressive, the passive is usually complacent in allowing others to not only speak over them but to take the lead, usually having their voice be an after thought, but extreme frustration or pressure can cause them to jump to the aggressive and completely skip the assertive part of the scale, without meaning to of course! The passive is used to not getting what they wish for and being unheard but when they feel they need to be heard, either for their own or another's gain, they usually become forced under a large amount of frustration in try to find a medium of assertive but not passive, causing them to become aggressive and exclaiming exactly what they want, this can be seen by others as an extreme jump in their personality and usually they end up classifying that person as potentially psychotic, (which is completely untrue) passives are not used to being assertive and can often go to far or to little and either get want the wished for or lose respect and sometimes friends or not get what they want at all and be forced to leave it be.
I can vouch for quite a bit of this!
I'm on the passive-assertive part of the scale and even then I can accidentally jump to the aggressive without meaning to when frustrated or pressured.
This usually results in people sometimes asking if I have mood altering illness or if I have always been "crazy"-"psychotic"-"mean", many more but most will get the picture. It can cause a huge blow on someone who hates to put others down and to pressure others and especially grinding on people with social anxiety or general anxiety.
I am fairly certain that Twilight is an Introvert, just a highly social one.

As someone who has Asperger's and understands about having a hard time with social interaction, I consider Fluttershy one of my favorite ponies not just because of what she's accomplished, but also because of her kind-natured personality.
I disagree with your assertion that Fluttershy is the only introvert in the group. I would argue that Twilight is as well. She can go and be in a large group comfortably, but her preference is to curl up with a good book and her own thoughts. Applejack also be in introvert. She never cares to be the center of attention and spends a lot of time alone working the fields (and is therefore alone with her thoughts) but she enjoys it and is invigorated by it. Rainbow Dash, Pinkie and Rarity are obvious extroverts as their love of the spotlight, crowds and parties attest.
tl;dr Introverts can act like extroverts, but they just don't enjoy it as much.

+MWestover Just because a character or person exhibits certain qualities, doesn't make them an introvert. That label has become too "popular" and a lot of people seem to want to latch onto it and see it everywhere.

For example, I am an introvert. I get far more energy being alone or having a deep and meaningful conversation with a good friend than I do by going to the bar or the club or a party. It's not that I dislike doing those things, but they are not my source of life. I would argue that Twilight, while she also enjoys going to parties to be with her friends, does not seek those parties out. You know how in the very first episode she closed herself off from her friends to study? That is her natural state.

A person that rests and regains energy from time spent alone is, in my opinion, the necessary and sufficient condition to define an introvert. The characteristics that you stated afterwards, however, really seem to fit more to the description of the Asperger's syndrome. Yet, all introverts do not have Asperger's.
Ultimately this all boils down to a vocabulary problem, which often don't really matter, but I do believe that it matters for some introverts (as I first described them) not to be automatically confused with Aspies.
Actually the outbursts futtershy had are kinda common among introverts at least the ones i know. They prefer to bottle up negative emotions and eventually. The bottle explodes. Leading to that. And some (like me) have a temper on them. Imagine this a introvert with a naturally LOUD voice has trouble being quiet and has a short fuse. Thats me. And more times than not. When i get into a mood. Its hard to get me out of it with out waiting or distracting me
I have to add that the character of the many comments before mine is impressive. We're honestly discussing personality traits and how they function (or dysfunction) in society, and we're using as examples characters from a animated show that was carefully and knowingly designed to give life lessons to children.
None of my friends appreciate MLP-FIM as I do; they think I'm just an adult who has odd childish tendencies. But the fact that we're having this discussion shows the depth and maturity of MLP-FIM.
(BTW, I'm a male INTP retired software engineer, with OCD kept in check by meds. Of the Mane 6, I'm most like Twilight, yet Fluttershy was clearly my favorite pony from the start.)

I'm finding it very odd that people say they don't like Fluttershy because she reminds them too much of themselves. I actually really love Fluttershy because I share a surprising amount of similarities with her, including the constant anxiety. She's a reminder to me that I'm not alone with my struggle, and that I can always get better. Even if it's something that will, unfortunately, stick with me forever, it doesn't mean I can't become a stronger person and rise like a phoenix from the ashes with even the smallest victories.

I was bullied for a large portion of my life and it HAS taken a large toll on me mentally and emotionally, much like with Fluttershy...I have no confidence in myself, I see myself as ugly and not worthy of love or basic human interaction, and I feel as though no matter how many people tell me otherwise I'm not good at anything I do. I try to sing but memory of a really rude ex getting annoyed at my repetition to learn lyrics, comes to mind and I avoid doing so unless I'm alone. I try to write but the memory of someone telling me my writing sucked and I should stop trying plays and I close my laptop. I try to make myself look nice with a cute outfit and a little make up, then the memory of everyone in my school calling me worthless and ugly every day grips me and I just quit trying.
People often assume that you can just move past words, that they can't hurt you after they've been said long ago but characters like Fluttershy show that this isn't true. Words you say to people can hurt anytime you say them, be it in person or in someone else's memory you can't avoid hurtful words. Fluttershy couldn't get past what ponies said in her past, bullying her for being a weak flier despite how she got better as the years went on. Because of this she continuously thought she wasn't good enough to make a difference...this is one of the things I struggle with daily.
The funny thing is...I'm most like Fluttershy personality wise, but I have the reactions and thinking of ponies like Rainbow Dash or AppleJack. I can be stubborn, arrogant, and a bit hard to handle at times. I also have problems with being too introverted, shy, anxious, unsure of myself, and 9 times out of 10 I actually prefer my six dogs to any amount of human interaction I could have. This is mainly due to the fact that animals don't judge you based on how you look or how you sing...they love you no matter how weird you are and like Fluttershy I take great joy in being with my animals.
I don't like large crowds and I would prefer to stay to myself if given the choice, but if I'm with people I know and are comfortable around I can be really energetic and out going. I respect Fluttershy because I go through her struggles every day, I feel the fear and anxiety she feels for a lot of things, and I appreciate that she learns the lessons she learns because I need to learn them too...I need to break out of my shell, take a couple of risks and believe in myself more.
So, no matter how late I say, thank you Fluttershy.
I can't be the only one who still loves Fluttershy and still my best pony, despite all her flaws. I'd be a shallow man if I didn't. #HappyFluttershyDay
Fluttershy is my favourite of the Mane 6. I know how much bullying affected my confidence, so building myself up has been a struggle. I have dreams and ambitions related to helping others overcome their problems, reach their goals and maximise their potential. I also love Starlight because betrayal after betrayal from friends, I've become more reserved and don't really like reaching out to people unless we share a similar struggle, similar passion or we just get along well for a while. In becoming better at recognising and enforcing my boundaries and becoming more confident. I'm still an introvert at heart, but I can't say that I don't enjoy being with friends at university or going to an event because it's about something I love. No way would I go to a massive event like an annual psychology conference if it wasn't about psychology. We can talk about similar things and get know one another because we share a similar passion. There's no way I would get up to dance in front of everyone if my friends weren't there to do the same thing and wouldn't go out of my way to dance in a competition if I didn't have my friends support.
Heck, I freaked out about the uni presentation because there at people in my seminar group that I don't know. But, because it was near Christmas, I decided to be a bit goofy and dress up as Mrs Claus to give everyone a good laugh to relax us before our presentation!

I love Fluttershy because she's exactly who I am. I have quite the low self-esteem and I am pretty much an introvert, but I act a little more extrovert around my close friends. I tend to act for myself or for others and I have a huge passion for animals. In fact, I want to work with animals. I tend to see things in people that others do not see and my personality can change when I'm introduced to something that I am passionate about. Besides that, i know when to be assertive and honest, even if it isn't the best choice. She's my best pony because she represents me and she helps me every day with being the person that I want to be.

I'm convinced that looking after the animals IS Fluttershy's steady job. She's a civil servant, working under an Equestrian government agency tasked with fauna management. In a world where the weather has to be micromanaged, having the animals require a management as well isn't too much of a stretch.

I realy realy would rather be at home and watch a movie witg a few friends or on my own with some delicious snacks. But i have had my moments that even seeying alot of people like say a busy market i would instantly feel scared and stressed a bit. Even now i have those moments but i know how to deal with them mostely:)

I love Fluttershy. Her quiet strength and her growth over the years make her my favourite. She not only curb-stomped Dash in the cold open to 'Dragon Quest,' but was the key to showing Discord that friendship was more important to him than being in control of the world around him. She earns others' respect through persuasion and her own abilities rather than through force, and she has addressed many fears -- in a smart way that shows how they do not go away even once confronted. Fluttershy can be singing like a Disney princess one moment, and contributing the needed factor for a victory the next. The Mane6's opposition underestimate her at their own peril, but really I believe that Fluttershy is Best Princess -- no transformation necessary, because she already possesses the necessary power within her. All she really needs to do is discover it for herself and bring it out as the situation calls for it.
I hadn't thought of Fluttershy's lack of ambition, but you're right, Quill. She has no set goal or reason why she would want power in the first place. Maybe this is why Discord had such a hard time with her in 'The Return of Harmony.' This lack of ambition is something I probably unconsciously mirrored when I created Gearhead, for whom family is everything, and whose older sister Ivy has absolutely no ambition of her own. It's fun to think of how things like that may have influenced my writing. Gearhead's central characteristic is 'gratitude,' and there's nopony he's more grateful toward since his arrival in Ponyville than Fluttershy.

2. Gearhead is the main character in my fimfic series, which I am currently overhauling. I got to a point where I realized I may have left some things inconsistent, and decided I should go back over the material before I launched into Book 4.
I'll be completely honest. When I first started watching the show, Fluttershy was my number one favourite out of the Mane Six because of how adorable I found her and her timidity. However as time went on and I became more interested in the analysis community, she started to slip down on my best-to-worst Mane Six list.
I began noticing that she was constantly learning the same lessons over and over before going back to square one in her next episode: Fluttershy's timid, ponies try to get her to stop being timid, she stands up for herself, becomes less shy, immediately forgets the lesson in her next episode. I certainly didn't dislike her but I felt like she was being adored just for being cute and nothing more.
However, after It Ain't Easy Being Breezies aired, that's when I saw Fluttershy finally start to grow. Throughout Season 5, she was absolutely wonderful. She remembered the lesson she learnt in that episode and carried it over to episodes like Tanks for the Memories, Make New Friends But Keep Discord and The Hooffields and McColts.
It was then that I began to realise Fluttershy was finally growing and taking big steps into developing. And I can certainly appreciate her for that.

I'm going to contend the point that Fluttershy is the group's only introvert, because while she's certainly the MOST introverted, Twilight also falls neatly into this category. Yes, she's socially adept, and a natural leader, but she also sticks mostly to a single group of friends, treats all other social interaction as either a formality or a learning opportunity, and recharges by locking herself in her house for a weekend and sorting through her book collection. It's the classic fallacy of conflating introvertedness with shyness, and extrovertedness with social competence. I know several people who are outgoing socializers in public who get home and just collapse because all that socializing exhausts them. Conversely, I'm an ambivert, leaning more toward extroverted, but if you saw me in a social setting, I'll bet you $10 you would peg me as an introvert, because I have high functioning autism, and accordingly have no social skills.
Fluttershy is my second favourite pony as I relate to her in many ways as well as Twilight and Rarity ^^ Thanks for this video Silver ^^

This was a very nice overview and explanation of why Fluttershy is your fav. She isn't mine ... rather the opposite, in fact ... but you explained it well and it was fun and enjoyable.
There is one thing I want to bring up and hope you'll find a way to address in upcoming reviews. You used the term "peer pressure" while showing a clip of Fluttershy refusing to use her Element on Discord in 'Keep Calm and Flutter On.' But you also show a clip of Twilight encouraging Fluttershy to participate in the tornado in 'Hurricane Fluttershy,' something Fluttershy clearly didn't want to do and wouldn't have done without Twilight's intervention. Couldn't that be just as easily called peer pressure too?
I'll admit, a big reason why I am not a Fluttershy fan is because I share a lot of traits with her. Not her kindness, sadly, but her timidity, a desire to avoid unpleasant situations and a poor track record when it comes to self-advocacy. What growth I have achieved came largely through the intervention of people pushing me to try things that I would never have done of my on. While this could be called 'peer pressure' calling it that carries a distinctly negative connotation when that's not always the case.
An intervention for a bad habit, for instance, could just as easily be described as peer pressure. Societal norms and cultural standards--both the good and the bad, can be described the same way. It's not as simple as "if you're being pressured, therefore that's automatically bad."
I get frustrated with Fluttershy as a character sometimes because it feels like there are times when she does something that I feel SHOULD be called out, but she's allowed to get away with because of how scared and cute she is ... while the character(s) trying to get her to come out of her shell are made to come off as insensitive or uncaring. "Scare Master" is a rather notorious instance of this, for me at least. Nopony tries to tell Fluttershy how frankly inane her fears of taffy or bobbing for apples were. They just gloss over it and try to do something else instead. And we were supposed to think Rainbow Dash was a insensitive jerk for not wanting to put up with with that nonsense.
I know from personal experience that being told to "suck it up!" is not the answer. You obviously can't be bullied into being brave or outgoing. But bending over backwards to avoid getting someone to confront a real problem isn't a solution either. I'm sure I'll have more to comment when you actually review that episode, but I would like you to try to explain how and when encouragement/pressure from one's friends becomes good or bad. Why Rarity's assurances to Fluttershy at the end of "Filli Vanilli" or forcing her to go onstage in "Hearth's Warming Eve" were seen as a good thing, but her friends telling her to stop Discord or to go watch the Dragon Migration in "Dragon Quest" were bad things.

I can relate to Fluttershy because, I am an intervert, I love nature, I am protective towards my friends even throwing a plastic knife at a kid that made one cry, and I was bullied.
D'awwwwww, but, yeah spot on and can't disagree with anything. Well one tiny thing. I'd still say Twilight counts as more of an introvert then an extrovert. She's closer to the middle of the scale, but really do thing she's still on the introverted side. Just being far more comfortable in groups as well then Fluttershy.

I don't understand your need for a character to have an ultimate desire. I've seen multiple times on this channel the implication that for some reason if a character doesn't want to achieve something big, it's either a hindrance on their character or a build-up to when they eventually will have a dream. (Spike, Moondancer, and now Fluttershy) There are people who are happy with the way they live life and only change when the situation calls for it. And I find these characters just as interesting, if not moreso, than the ones who do have a goal to strive for.
Thank you. I already appreciated Fluttershy when Season 5 did a better job than the past seasons in presenting her more as an introvert, but this made me appreciate her even more. I'm really looking forward for more Fluttershy episodes.

What makes Twilight an introvert, above all else, is her dominant cognitive function, which is introverted Thinking. She is actually a stronger introvert than media portrays her as, given that her auxiliary function is extroverted iNtuition, the most ambiverted of the functions.

I'm meh on her. Even with her "baby steps", it seems like her character doesn't develop much. There's also the point of her being everything I've worked so hard to overcome. As a kid, I used to have crippling social anxiety. Eventually I just stopped caring what others think of me and the anxiety eventually leveled off and now has all but vanished. Although to be honest, I mask some of my insecurities by being rather arrogant, which may not be the best way to go. In any case, Fluttershy is just too boring for me. She's too pure and innocent to be interesting as a character.

Seeing her overcome her struggles and learn to cope with ones that are long term are the kinds of things suited for her character. That being said, it does aggravate me that she learns the exact same lessons and hasn't grown as much as the rest of the main cast.

Sonleeforever5 ™ Dash is my least favorite character out of the Mane 6. A lot of people like her boisterous personality, but I'm not really a fan.

Online its easier to manage it because I'm not eye to eye with others. Not caring what others think of me only seems to work online for some reason. Flutters isn't my favorite either, because she reminds me too much of myself, its haunting. I still "like" her though.

Shes still my least fav of the mane6. Mostly because I see her basic archetype in anime a ton, plus that archetype tends to have a very defensive fanbase. Like, if anyone is mean to their wifu then they must defend them. I saw this with Luna too, who I want to like but her fanbase turned me off to her. A character must be able to stand on their own legs, overly defensive fans prevent that.

I’ve also really enjoyed her character growth in recent seasons. Especially the episode Fluttershy Leans In. She really shined in that episode and I was so proud of her.

Thank you for this beautiful video + beautiful song and artwork at the end! AJ's my fav outta the main six but Fluttershy is a very close second. Very close. They are the two characters I relate to the most, with Twilight being third because bookz, so it makes sense I'd like them so much and the episodes starring them and their struggles.
Intrigued by the idea you posed as to what her goals could be in her future, and the first thing I thought of was hardcore magical beast tamer. She'd ride atop a mighty dragon with countless other monsters at her side, vanquishing evil wherever she went, and hold the quietest of tea parties.
Great video! Fluttershy is indeed fantastic -- my second favorite pony after Pinkie. I really hope we see more of her this season -- I felt like she didn't get nearly enough screentime last season.
Fluttershy has always been my favorite, and Filly Vanilli has been my favorite episode. I'm not introverted like Fluttershy, but there has been times when I didn't feel comfortable with something most people do normally. I felt ashamed that it seemed that I wasn't normal. When she said baby steps even after everything, it brough about a sigh of relief, and a warm feeling. It's okay to be anxious about things, and its okay to go at your own pace....even when others think you should move faster. Looking back, I'm still amazed by how much cartoons can teach adults if you tune into them.
This is my first video i have watched on your channel and all i can say is wow. You do a great job of viewing the characters realistically and with no fav bias you might fine else were. I dont think flutter shy is the only one who deserves a *yay* :)
