- In this video, I demonstrate SSK (slip, slip, knit) and K2TOG (knit two together) decreases. These decreases can each be used separately, or can be used together to form a nice neat crown at the top of a beanie.
SSK leans left, and K2TOG leans right.
In this video, I'm using Feeling Good Yarn from Wool and the Gang, and I'm knitting my Birchwood Beanie pattern, which can be found here: www.ravelry.co...
Thank you so much. Busy with a beanie and of course get to the crown and I did not like just doing k2tog for each round. This has a neater look. Thanks for the clear instructions.
Very useful and nicely explained. Thank you! 🌸
Thank you. It’s a perfect video short and simple.
Thank you for the clear instructions!
very nice!!! Thank you.
I have a troubleshooting question for you. Whenever I do these two decreases back to back like in your pattern, I get a gap between them. I always end up sewing the gaps up after I am done with my hat which can look messy. I am hoping you can help. If not, that is okay too.
it happens the same to me, that’s why I’m searching for a new technique. If you find a solution for that please share with me :)
Hi Emily, I saw your tutorial on ssk. My hat pattern says ssk slip 1 knitwise, slip 1 purlwise, then knit two in the back loop. This does not make sense to me. ???
If my instructions don’t make sense to you, you can try googling SSK and you’ll find tons of people explaining it. Hope that helps.
How many stiches are between the decreased stiches?
All the info is in the pattern. You can purchase it here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/birchwood-beanie
This video’s brilliant, I’ve how would this work on flat needles for a hat?
