This year I'm getting out camping and hiking more than I have in the past few years. Plus I'll be working towards learning and improving my bush craft skills.
Hi Becky. I'm a subscriber from British Columbia, Canada! I love watching your videos, and I found myself wanting to join you most of the time. It's nice to see how well you handle yourself and your confidence in getting set up by yourself. I would love to see you and your mum on a girls' overnighter. I have seen her in your videos, but your dad has been there too. Keep up the great work! Happy New Year
45:24 - I'm Polish but I've been living in the UK for more than 15 years (and do not plan to move back to Poland) and you inspired me to start wild camping. I live in East London, Lambourne End area where I'm actually planning to do my first wild camping as we have got woods/park/forest nearby and I already scouted it, saved nice spots on my phone navigation so that using GPS I can get right to the spots I have found. I have been going through anxiety, I was never outspoken person, always avoided to talk to people if did not have to, in addition to coronavirus lockdowns, I began to think how can I enjoy this time, while people are constantly fighting and are divided when it comes to "social distancing", etc... I was so happy to see your videos and fell in love with you, your channel and your adventures. So yeah, hoping to do my first solo wild camping at the end of this month! Next Surrey Hills and then wherever I can think of driving... I hope you did pass your driving lessons as you also mentioned in this video!
The Polish Lavvu with a wood stove is an awesome set up, I hope to have one myself soon. Looks like yours is the large size Lavvu. Great camp set up. Looked like an awesome time!
I would like to see more over nighters like this. Cozy inside the tent, cook on the stove, really cold or stormy outside even better. A brighter tent light for filming.
Hello Becky, it is good to see you out and about once again. I like your tent and stove set up. You are fast becoming a real bushcraft person. Always be safe out there, take care and have fun. Keep up the good work. 🤗
Another lovely vid Becky :) Happy New Year to you & your family. I'd like to try & get out more this year with my girls & start getting them more in touch with nature. I also love the story of Chris & Into the Wild. I didn't realise his sister had written a book too! You'll have to let me know what you think of it. I'd love to go over & hike out to the bus!!
Thank you, awesome sounds like a plan! Yeah its a great story about a great guy, will tell you how tge book is! Yeah same, would be lovely to see the bus :) take care
You r so amazing! when i asked to my gf to go camping she said 'girl's can't do bushcraft! dangerous blabla' and then! I found u!!! and she changed mind! Thank you my hero!
just stumbled across this channel while watching other bushcraft stuff. this was brilliant i really enjoyed it hope you do more vids like this through 2019 all the best with the channel and all the best for 2019
It's been nice to see your confidence and skills grow as you do these videos. It would be great if more young people took an interest in the outdoors. I hope you have many more fun adventures in 2019. Be careful and stay safe.
Very nice Becky ,, great cozy camp you set up ! Ya really have have a handle on this camping and enjoying the outdoors thing, I’m learning a lot here,, thank you Becky
It looks like you have began the new year off correctly and I wish y ou all the best in 2019. You have learned so much and is ready to survive on your own if you had to where so many are not qualified to live on their own for one hour on their own. At your young age you are qualified to teach survival skills to others and show them how to make a shelter, and build fires on their own, and even hunt and fish to get food to eat.
Awesome video and camp set up.. your words are inspiring to us all, and a good reminder about finding yourself. Also, I like that knife. :) Take care and be safe
I truly appreciate when you supply the links to all your gear. I have been using my time to planning what to do as far as adventures I want to have this year. I have an editing program I will be purchasing. There are several books I wood love to have and read. I plan on this year, being my year to add more content to my channel and possibly edit the name. I want to let people know that my channel won't just be on one track. Take care. Happy New Year!
Great job Becky .. Hope you had a great Christmas as well .. Thanks for sharing this video ... Keep up the awesome work my friend .. And all the best in 2019......Mark ......
I spent Xmas with family & friends which was great. At New Year’s Eve I was in charge of a large fireworks show which went very well. It’s a lot of long hard work for something that lasts 5mins but totally worth it. I get paid to paint the sky with light & sound which almost everyone enjoys. Who wouldn’t like getting paid to blow thing up lol. It’s so good to see you again Becky. I always enjoy the content you produce because you always manage to inspire me and also I find your content so relaxing which I think I’ve said more than once lol. Becky you are such a lovely, level headed and mature young woman. You never cease to amaze me when you talk about things that are important to you and your dreams and aspirations and all the things you like! I count myself lucky I came across your channel. I think I’ve said all that a few times before too lol. It’s a strange relationship that RUclipsrs like you and your subscribers have. Through your videos I feel I’ve got to know you quite well, just like good friends would know each other and yet you know very little about me or most of your subscribers for that matter. Have you ever met anyone that knows you from your channel and came over to talk to you like they’ve known you for ages and yet you don’t know who the heck they are. I’d probably find it a bit freaky lol. I hope 2019 will be another good year for you and that you achieve what you set out to achieve and do all the things you want to do. If anyone can, you certainly can. Look forward to your next video. I’ll do my best not to write a novel in the comments next time lol. Take care Becky :)
Thank you Gaz for your lovely comment, always nice to read such great things and see someone who alwways enjoys my content and videos I post. Bet the fire display was awesome, where abouts was that? Aha i completely see what you mean, at the bushcraft show last year i got a few people coming up to me talking about me and my channel and it felt like they've known me years and know everything about me but at the same time I didnt have a clue who they were - think it's nice when someone is like minded though because you click instansly as you share the same interests and passion which was nice. I soon got to know the subscribers that came up to me and was nice to hear such lovely things said about my videos. Are you thinking of going to the bushcraft show this year? Hope you have a lovely 2019 :)
Girl Outdoors it was the Edinburgh New Years Fireworx display. I’m hoping to go to the bushcraft show this year with a few like minded friends. If I do make it down there I will let you know and maybe we could meet up for a chat. I will let you know about that. In the mean time, just keep doing what you’re doing cause it’s awesome. Take care Becky :)
I loved the movie his out look on life and I wish I had took off like he did I probably wouldn't have gotten in to as much trouble as I did I love watching you out there I have shared your videos with my daughter to try to get her out of the house I think she has a lot more of her momma in her than me keep up the good work
Another great video Becky :) For your Q&A: What do you attribute your RUclips success to? Future video idea: How you sharpen your axe and knife. Yours seem to be extremely sharp.
Hello to my Dear Friend Becky, the beautiful Grasshopper! Happy New Year. I LOVE this video! You impart a tremendous amount of woodscraft/camping knowledge in a way of actually demonstrating it. I have never carried a stove into the wild but many who drive to their campgrounds will be happy to know how to NOT set the woods on fire (re: California). Meanwhile, watching your open fire cooking I want some of that bacon...wagging my tail like a friendly dog LOL!...When I grow up, I still want one of those knives too, awesome. Sending love and hugs to you and yours from the Great Smoky Mountains ~~^^*^^~*~~**
Thank you so much Don, need to get out on that bow and arrow soon! Aha love to hear that your loving the bacon, hope you have a lovely 2019 my friend like you deserve. Will always cherish the money you have me to buy the archery equipment :) take care Don!
Hey Becky nice video to start off the new year! My question is if you have any books or courses you can recommend to learn more about bushcraft for a beginner and any tips to get started for a beginner. Thanks Becky happy new year!
something to think about is to get a big tarp and a grommet kit to make small and large grommets , them put a large grommet in the middle of the trap to put your walking pole tip into it. in joy
great video Becky ,,,,,, a great start to a new year , best of luck on your driving test , BE WELL , BE SAFE , HELLO TO YOUR MOM, DAD AND OF COURSE YOUR SIS TOO ,
YOUR DAD REALLY KNOWS HIS CRAFT AS A WOODS MAN.I HAVE LEARNED A LOT OF SKILLS BY WATCHING YOU GUYS.PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOU AND YOUR DAD ARE DOING IT HELPS A LOT OF PEOPLE .I AM GOING TO START GETTING OUT A LOT MORE .THANKS SO SO MUCH..MAYBE SOMEDAY YOU CAN COME TO CANADA AND CHECK IT OUT.IT,S COLD BUT LOTS OF FUN STUFF TO DO LIKE SLIDING DOWN A BIG HILL NO MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE GOD BLESS @@GirlOutdoors
Hello there I see you got agreat tent and wood stove well done Happy new year to you and your family and I hope you are doing great and staying safe out there very proud of you your learning more about the outdoor activities super great always learning more about the ways to survive.proud of the great videos take care hi to your mom and dad to you all Be together and be safe out there byfor now from Alaska it's-40 below here now cold cold.by stay safe always . two thumbs up to you all.
Hi Becky. A few questions for your Q. A. Have you ever considered wildlife conservation as a career choice or something like forestry management? If not, what sort of field were you thinking about getting into? Great video and happy New Year :)
You had me giggling straight away when I saw the size of your pack compared to you haha as always love your vids, your drive and passion for the outdoors...keep it up Becks
My goodness Becky I thought you were one of the Ninja Turtles with that huge pack . As far as growing up and for searching for yourself , I think your doing a very good job of that right now. As I get older I find I am always searching for myself. Every day you meet people, see things, hear things that have a tiny impact on who you are and each day it changes you . All the very best to you . Paul
Definitely a great way to start the new year 👍👍. Always love watching your videos. A future video idea would be nice to see what wild edibles you have in the spring time. For your questions coming up , when you fish what types of fish do you have over there you can catch and eat?
Hi Becky. I agree solo camping is the way to go. Time alone in the woods is good for the soul and allows you to learn a lot about yourself. I know you want to go back to Scotland to explore and camp. Question: Once you get your drivers license would you consider a collaboration video with Stuart the Scottish Wanderer? You could teach him some bushcraft skills in exchange for him teaching you how to do the SPAM dance. hahaa. ATB Becky. Looking forward to another great year with you.
Great Video as always Becky. No wonder you had such a big rucksack! What does that stove weigh ? Looks like you were using a good old fashioned paraffin hurricane lamp - I love them, really nice light, great for walking with too. They also give out a lot of heat & help to keep your tent warm. As requested, one question and a suggestion for you : how waterproof do you find the lavvu / half tents / poncho in really heavy rain ? Do the buttoned joints leak ? As a suggestion, your videos have a lovely relaxing slow viewing style as well as lots of useful advice & skills, but I suspect you would get more viewers thru more tightly editing them down. For many people something approaching an hour may be too long. Loved your section on choosing a site - widow makers, hangers & dead trees are a real hazard. Keep up the great work Becky. Chas
Thank you very much, the stove weighs about 14 kg. Yeah thats the one aha, they work grear espcially for winter months when it gets dark early. Thank you for your questions, will answer that in my Q&A! Thank you :)
Hi Becky thanks for the video it was just what I was looking for. I'm wanting to get into solo wildcamping, it's great to see other young women rocking it 😊 I'm very confused about tools? What do they do? What would I need them for? I've never had an interest in tools but I can see from your video they can be so important in having a successful camp.
Thank you very much, well i'm not sure what tools you own but if your going in the winter time and you don't have a good sleeping bag or a jet boil to cook your food, you will need to have a fire so you'll have to carry a few items to light your fire with, best is probably cotton wool and vaseline with a lighter (if your not very confident with lighting fires?) then you will need a saw for proecessing fire wood. I take a hatchet and a knife for other tasks and protection - they are not essential depending where your going and what your planning on doing. I dont know your capilities or experience but I think you should be confident using tools when with somebody before you go out camping by yourself just incase you injure yourself. Hope this helps...
@@GirlOutdoors Thank you for replying 😊 I'm not planning on going out till I have all the right equipment (probably in spring, when it's warmer) I've watched some of your other videos and I see there are some skills I should practise before I need them. I like the idea of getting someone to go with me while I practise. I'm sure I'll need a first aid kit too (as always).
Hey. I'm new to making outdoor videos. So been clicking on random vids to see what kind of people make them. Can say that you made a pretty cool vid. 👍 fair play too. Defo sub. Will give some more a watch hopfully tomorrow.
Great video, can’t wait to see more content, im going to look but if you haven’t yet you should do a gear load out so we can see what you’re taking on your solos and how you packed that stove? 😂
yeah I didn’t see it on the walk in that’s why I asked and that’s what people like, to see what you have and take and how you take it to where you camp, weather it’s a case of parking in a lay-by and walking into the woods for a mile or having help 😂. Can’t wait for the next upload
Hi great videos , how much of a problem are ticks when wild camping ? Lyme disease is a pretty serious thing so is there any prevention methods ? Cheers, loving your vids
You are so much wiser than your years. Keep that spirit and you can do whatever you decide in life.
Thank you Gary, appreciate it!
Happy new year! my new year resolution is to go on my first solo wild camp, you've inspired me :)
Ah love that! That's a great goal. Think you will enjoy it if you love nature and your own space. Tell me how you get on:)
Well now I’m wondering....... Did you go on that solo trip?
This year I'm getting out camping and hiking more than I have in the past few years. Plus I'll be working towards learning and improving my bush craft skills.
Loove that! Good on you, only live once
Good video. Its good to see people out in nature even when the temperature drops.
Thank you Tressa :) take care

Nice video as allways!
Chris was a hero. He choosed freedom instead of this greedy society we live in! His biggest misstake was to do it alone though!

Hi Becky. A few questions for your Q. A.
Have you ever considered wildlife conservation as a career choice or something like forestry management?
If not, what sort of field were you thinking about getting into?
Great video and happy New Year :)
Thank you for your questions, will answer them! Thank you and take care
You had me giggling straight away when I saw the size of your pack compared to you haha as always love your vids, your drive and passion for the outdoors...keep it up Becks
Ahaah thank you, glad you liked the video!
Happy New Year!!!
Paul
ahahaha! Thank you for your comment my friend. Take care Paul atb for 2019
Good day for you
Really nice video. Best regards !
It's funny that some people call the
" ground " floor or Flo. I love Your videos!!
Your the best!
And “Yeah” is much cooler than “like, like”
Hahahahaha
Happy New year Becky best wishes to you and your family
Could you do a vid wild camping in bad rainy weather I would like to see how the shelter hols up thanx john
Yeah sure :) hasnt rained when i've camped in the lavvu
Definitely a great way to start the new year 👍👍. Always love watching your videos. A future video idea would be nice to see what wild edibles you have in the spring time. For your questions coming up , when you fish what types of fish do you have over there you can catch and eat?
Thank you very much, erm its quite hard with the hunting rules, will have to look into that when it comes to eating them :)
Thank you Jon, yes i agree with you! I will use your question in my Q&A :) take care and happy new year!
@@GirlOutdoors You are strong girl - I wouldn't want to be carrying that weight far. Great for canoe camping though !
Ok thank you very much :) aha i took the stove seperately
yeah I didn’t see it on the walk in that’s why I asked and that’s what people like, to see what you have and take and how you take it to where you camp, weather it’s a case of parking in a lay-by and walking into the woods for a mile or having help 😂.
Can’t wait for the next upload
It sucks that I have no woodland around this way I'd love to get out 😥..your vids are Awsome keep up the good work
Feel for you :/ thank you
Hi great videos , how much of a problem are ticks when wild camping ? Lyme disease is a pretty serious thing so is there any prevention methods ? Cheers, loving your vids
