  • I am decently sure that this is the world's first set of motorized Heelys. Electric shoes have been made before, but I think this is the first set of Heelys Brand that are motorized.
    Here are some links to the items I used. They are not the exact ones I purchased but they are close enough.
    Esc: ebay.to/2CpkXin
    Wheel: ebay.to/2A6ygTs
    Shoes: bit.ly/2oAsC6R
    Also did you know that apparently the act of riding Heelys is called heeling?

    I was planning to make my own version of motorized heelys for my summer project and your take of using the external wheel is really awesome

      I would love to make a version two cause I have some more ideas. Tell me how it goes!

    Dangit! I thought I was the first in the world to think of this million dollar idea, congrats on making a prototype, but now know you've got some competition! >:)

      If you are interested in doing some brainstorming\idea sharing, I would be very interested, I am very serious about getting a working pair, with a properly seated battery, and the motor attached to the real heely wheel, instead of an external.

    Thought of this idea the other day. Wanted to find something out there to confirm it’s got some potential. Any new development since? I got some ideas for my version. Good to see the concept potential here.

      Yes I'm working on a version 2! I filmed part of it but I'm working on a few other projects taking precedence right now

    Try having the motored healy on the back foot. Have it push vs pull. Might prevent you from doing a split

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  4 года назад

      My only issue with that is the back foot is pretty close to my center of gravity then. It could push my leg too far and cause me to fall backward.

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  4 года назад

      Also I had the motor angle configured for my front foot so it wasn't as simple as just putting that foot back to test it

    • @tb7246

      Ahh motors got good power then. Cool good luck

    Have your kids destroy mall displays faster than EVER! If your kids have Heelys, then YOU MUST DO THIS MOD!

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  5 лет назад

      Kids, if your parents don't know joy, buy them Heelys and DO THIS MOD. As soon as they put the shoes on, they will buy you all the toys you've ever wanted. Heck, you could even make these for your dogs!

    This looks awesome! Do you still have the STL files?

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  5 лет назад

      I never bothered to save them since I need to remake them, it also depends on your shoe size and stuff. It wasn't too hard to model

  • @katrius9204

    What if you use the same motor but simply transfer the motor energy to the Heelz(TM) Wheel i.e. some gears/chains/axels

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  5 лет назад

      It would be hard to do that in such a confined space but could definitely be possible, I'll have to think about that. Too much money to spend that I don't have though :p

      @AntoniusK 5 лет назад +1

      a drive shaft connected to worm gears would be horribly inefficient. The ration on those gears are extremely low and while he may gain torque, he would probably be limited to around 1mph. A better idea would be to design a larger shoe from the ground up. Might look a little comical but if it can hold the motor then who cares.

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  5 лет назад

      I wish I had the money to make it lol. What I was looking at doing was getting an outrunner brushless motor the size of the current wheel that would have just enough power to maintain speed on flat ground. You would use the outrunner as the wheel itself by putting some rubber on it.

      @@CalebMarting That's the same idea I had. They don't seem to make those wheels smaller than like 70mm and the motors themselves go down to like 50mm and once you add the plastic it's a pretty big wheel.

      Thank you! If you look "skateboard hub motor" on eBay you'll find a bunch. They aren't particularity powerful or torque-y though so if you are trying to make a longboard electric I would recommend a belt driven setup.
      I believe my motors were 70mm

    May I suggest using a 90 degree drill bit with an extension? From experience I would not recommend using the flexible versions. I built a boosted board thingy following this tutorial and thought you could incorporate some of these ideas. GL ------mikeshouts.com/diy-drill-powered-electric-skateboard-by-inspire-to-make/---

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  5 лет назад

      Oh I hadn't even thought about doing something like that. Something flexible like a Dremel tool extension would be amazing except that it probably wouldn't transfer the torque. Thanks for the idea

    Until the motor is INSIDE the shoe these are technically NOT motorized Heelys!

  • @themodfather9382

    This is so bad. The ENTIRE POINT of heelys is that you don't see the wheels and other junk. This is just a shoe with a wheel on it. What is wrong with you?

    • @CalebMarting
      @CalebMarting  4 года назад

      I had a wheel and I did a thing and it works. The entire point of heelys is that they also AREN'T motorized. Let's see what you've got if you can do better
