Theoretical cosmology is painting out a more broad picture of the universe beyond the simple lone big bang just as I thought all along . Use to think of the universe in basic mathematical terms...'a low order universe is embedded within a higher order master universe.' Now, still mathematically, 'the universe is a subset of a master set.' My thoughts about the universe have always been in the neighborhood.
The first low resolution imagination of a fractal was a triangle with smaller contiguous triangles embedded on the sides of the larger triangle. The smaller contiguous triangulate sides then themselves have a smaller contiguous smaller triangulate on their sides...ad infinity. The basic model image of a fractal is the same sort of model as in cosmology. Set and subset definition.

You might wanna look into different levels of multiverse.

That would make sense because the fundamental structuring form in grand reality is the fractal pattern....looks the same no matter what magnification scale we observe. The fractal pattern probably persists even into the higher dimensions that our 4 dimensional universe is embedded in.
But, as Neil deGrasse Tyson said, 'The how and why of it is only pushed further back from a comprehensive answer by introducing a further nested hierarchy of multiverses.' The question is what is the ultimate source and cause of all this stuff.
Dr. Penrose thinks IT is a product of a quantum computer....a simulation inside a computer. Also makes sense. Propagation ad infinitum....in all directions all at a timeless once. We are the imaginations of a grand computer. Then again what made the computer? Only Jesus knows. It is unknowable to us as it should be. We exist only in a low order ant universe. It is amazing that we can ponder these things even still.
