Thanks for providing (imo) the best in depth review of the Tavascan. Will be replacing a Mk6 Golf GTI with an EV this year and this is definitely on my shortlist.
Good to see you at work over the holiday and the camera technique is improving. Cupra have done the best job possible with the MEB platform, but can not entirely get around the awful Cariad software or capacitive nonsense. I believe all MEB instances drive well because of the good underlying VW engineering, so this should drive nicely. The bit which will not age well is the ambient lighting - just imagine a few of those stars on each door winked out. At €60k as driven it is clearly a complete idiocy given all the alternatives at that price. Even at the entry level of €42k there are better choices.
Orderd blue Endurance4 before Xmas, driving a Formentor Petrol last 2/3 years and loved it . Waiting for this to arrive.. hope I dont get cold feet before and cancel the EV :(
Was between this (the base model) and the BYD seal. Went with the seal in the end because the lease was slightly cheaper with some more standard equipment. But it does look like a great car, would probably want the V2 to get some of the extras
@ defiantly like the added practicality but with current Ioniq 5 lease ending had to lock in next lease through NHS scheme before it was listed as an option. In another 3 years will probably be on my list (either do another lease or buy used)
It's interesting how you say this made in China model feels so much better put together. It wasn't too long ago people assumed everything made in China was trash. It's good to see how far they've come. No wonder they're eating VW's lunch, and the rest with them.
Imo Cupra are showing vw how to finish a car. As per comments, this is a great car with nice interior lighting. The red on the door is smart. Nothing to do with Cupra, but cars are not for driving anymore but gadgets to set to your personal preferences. But will you set it and then not play with them anymore? I see one chap went for M3 and another the BYD... is this suggesting the opposition is better priced. I think so and this is Cupras achilles heal. Thanks Des
Gorgeous looking car. The sensitive automatic brakes must be a Cupra trait. I had a 212 Formentor, and got another Formentor this year. Both would slam on the brakes when reversing into parking spots.
If you can add a home charger which in my opinion is a MUST HAVE when owning an EV you will not look back on your purchase, I'm on my second and wouldn't go back.
It would be good to know if the one you had did include a heat pump? In the UK, all but the bbase have DCC. Is DCC essential for a decent ride quality?
To my knowledge it did not have a heat pump. The Endurance 6 (one above base) did have DCC and it was very smooth. Unfortunately I've not driven a model without it to compare apologies
I take it that this is the latest, much improved VW-group infotainment version, Derek? Pity about the capacitive touch controls on the wheel. Had these in a courtesy VW recently and personally didn't like them. Love the exterior look though
Derek, whats the wiper layout on this model, on the ID3 and Cupra Born they are NOT set for RHD (the larger wipe occurs on the left) reducing visibility in the rain. Is this addressed in this model? . iD4/5 have a different wiper layout. Also do any models have DDC dynamic chassis control as offered on ID3 GTX?
Looks like VW decided to bring the Chinese VW ID.UNYX to Europe to one of their companies. It's not selling well there from what I hear as the Chinese manufacturers offer more features for less cost. Makes sense to sell in a market where the government wants to promote local EV but, imported Chines cars still offer more.
Wheels are looking small on this. I don't think the black arch helps this. On the Born the 20"s really fill the car out. Either way the Cupra design house are really good at at designing out it's parent look. I'm not a big fan of the illuminated front and rear badge.
So B mode is normal, and D mode is the recuperation. Funny it's different on a Explorer, but okay it doesn't have those paddles also. Kinda weird when it's the same platform as the Tavascan.
A very, very good looking car. Very well balanced exterior styling. One of the best. That tacky interior though…looks a bit cheap and nasty - only ‘looks’ , it’s presumably well made. The light tricks/antics/seem to shout ‘1970’s chunky gold bracelet and gold medallion’ style and the inside of 70’s nightclub. Then again, that might be the intention: nostalgia is always popular. Great looker though.
The only people buying this are existing ev drivers. Unfortunately dealers don't want evs back or they are offering a fraction on the original price. If you buy this, buy it on PCP and if the arse falls out of it, at least you can walk away from it.
A lot of plastic .... but good looking vehicle sadly no ICE option as we still do not have enough infrastructure i will be going back to ICE after 3 years in a Tesla just had enough nonsense !
Collecting mine in a few day's ❤ cant wait
What colour did you go for Patrick?
Basalt grey ❤ i got the heat pump which was costly enough but would regret nit getting it @NevoEVReviewIreland
Basalt grey with winter pack 👌
It’s a beauty 😮
Yep, have to agree

That's a cool looking car. 😍
Thanks again for overlaying the mi/kwh figures Derek.

2 great choices in fairness. What did you think of the Sealion 7?

Here and there I just noticed it

1) needs a rear spoiler
2) needs a rear wiper
3) needs 4 window control buttons not 2
4) why move the wipers to the left?

Has to be the 1st question asked
Got my VZ in september. 7500 km later, never looked back 😊
Born VZ?! I was looking at one of those, is it a hoot?!
@ Nope, Tavascan VZ. Never tried any Born yet
@@scraibThe Tavascan VZ is the same as the adrenaline, but with awd and 340hp.
I have the same model in the Urano Grey
How are you finding it?
@@NevoEVReviewIreland all good, drive good, good comfort, looks good. Only problem is shorter range in winter. it charges with an average of 110kw

@NevoEVReviewIreland thank you for the information 👍
All of them have heat pumps, here in Denmark 😋 and only the adrenaline and vz have dcc suspension.
@@BaMbOoZeD There certainly are a lot of variations in specification around Europe.

Was interested in one with the extra Cupra discount but wasn't paying extra for the heated seats pack- ordered a Tesla M3 instead.
Pound for pound/ euro for euro the Tesla Model Y RWD is the best option (IMO!!!)
That one little thing called caracter.
100%
I'm seeing prices from €50,250........
Nowhere close to less than €42.000. Even after grants, that's a jump. What am i missing?
Best I can find is an Endurance 4, with a basic winter pack, and ROTR is nearly 47k after grants. That's 5k more than 42k.........
SEAI booster grant of €7k has finished now was only orders before 31/12/24
I was in with Spirit Cupra yesterday and they said the grant has been extended to the end of January.
