The rave scene in America is *far* softer than Europe. In places like Berlin and Holland, it's regular for both DJ's and ravers to go clubbing Friday night until Sunday (clubs open Friday midnight, close Monday morning 11 am), openly participating in sex and drugs in the clubs. Dj's like Sven Vath were known for mammoth 12+ hour sets
My take away from this is: Thank you MDMA for spreading Electronic Dance Music to the masses Lol, in all seriousness, I like David's perspective on things. He knows how to put electronic music in the right light.
Because of mdma I got really into techno, I used to never like it but when I was tripping balls in a festival and vibing out with the boys to techno it was the best time of my life lmao
Notice at 1:10 Guetta now thinks the question was "how do you become a famous DJ?" rather than a "good" DJ. That's Guetta's subconscious defense mechanism kicking in.
No, he answered the question at the beggining, he said that if you want to be a good DJ you have to be able to rock the crowd with your own style, your own music, if you can do that, you are a good DJ, and then he explained what is the difference between the famous djs and the resident djs in the nightclubs of your city who only plays music.
Isn’t this around the time when Homie main staged Tomorrowland absolutely minced on acid and almost had an existential crises towards the end of the set?
Say whatever you want, but this guy is speaking the truth about what makes a superstar DJ. Look at Calvin Harris, Avicii RIP :(, Martin Garrix, Skrillex, Diplo, etc. They are all music producers, and some are mainly just producers, like Calvin Harris and Avicii, etc. Who got into DJing because of producing, for others it is different but the reason these guys are so big is that they have made tracks which have been heard by billions of people around the world. Sure the House and Techno Gatekeepers can cry and complain all you want, but the fact is that this is EDM Today, EDM is very mainstream. These Slap House tracks get millions of views on youtube and EDM has been and will continue to be placed in the charts for years to come, maybe not in one country but in another, it will be huge. I am not sure about the part he said about drugs but he was telling the truth about everything else.
He says a good dj has to work the crowd... id put money that his sets are worked out and not on the fly. Djs like him cant "afford" mistakes or "risks/deviation" when intertwined heavily with business just like the film industry.
It’s so funny to see someone transcend the theatre of journalistic question and answer time and start talking like there friends with the other person. It makes it awkward by default.

Well meanwhile almost everyone at Psytrance festivals is high. Man being on psychdelics with the everyone else on the floor is magic. And I bet same goes for other genres, truth is people do shit ton of psychedelics and stimulants. And that's the better scenario, then you have worse stuff like alcohol and hard drugs.
To be a good dj just pretend to dj,use a pre mixed cd,and stand there ,or alternatively you can get a laptop and press the sync button... Now lets see all these djs roll out on a set of 121os ,the real art of turntablism
How would David Guetta know how to be a good DJ? He's hardly a producer and he is in no way a DJ. He only plays pre-mixed sets on stage because he is too afraid to fuck up live. And people pay 80 bucks a night to see him press play on Soundcloud basically.
Rob Ztar you should look his umf set 2015, several times camera focus on the mixer and if you see the faders on the mixers are left or right, never more on 1 fader. i think his pre-mixed are overs now and if that is not enough then check this "martin garrix & david guetta mixing mambo ibiza" cameras even closer, you would see the mixers faders and some skills, you should get more info and stop bashing because of ignorance..
He admitted in an interview with Noisey and later in an Interview on TV that he does not mix sets live. My statement was not based on ignorance, but on his own statement. And moving a fucking fader wen you know the camera is there filming you, is not a big deal. And even if the fader is moved, you dont know if the mixer is plugged in at all. I prefer The Glitz, Sound Nomaden, Umami, Systemfeind, A.N.A.L. and a lot of others over David Guetta a million times. Not only do they play their sets live with actual DJing skill, but they also play way better music. Not this americanized EDM crap. Go to Soundcloud and listen to sets of the DJs I just mentioned. Get your mind blown! ;)
damn guys chill, he makes with that answer everything better so people won't think like:" omg my child is going to take drugs there" if their kid goes to a techno concert. Sure his music is whack, but I think that answer was very good and true. What he's doing on his own is his privacy. So he protected the festival/concert people who are not taking drugs there and that's a lot. But If there's also a lot people taking drugs was not the question and why does he/we have to mention that? lmao
He said everything right basically I don't care if he don't do what he said but he still said the right and informative things. I don't know why everybody is hating on him.

he's just saying that not everyone that's into electronic music is on drugs, cause literally everyone listens to it
That is not what he is saying
Hater
When Guetta said "... and 50-year-olds are listening to it", Larry must have thought "I get it, you already said children".
MDMA will forever be linked to electronic dance music because as soon as somebody tries it, it’s never the same without it

Wtf is he talikng about .. he do drugs at evrey tommorolwland event .. and he lost his style long time ago he is acrowd pleaser
