I want to be close with God but I'm not sure if I'm capable of loving God so much more then my family I also struggle immensely with forgiveness I don't know how to make myself forgive

I pray this..."Lord, please help me to forgive like You have forgiven me. Please Holy Spirit, help me to be more like Jesus. Thank You, Father God for hearing and answering my prayer. Amen." I'm not preaching, just telling you what works for me. Lord bless you.

Biblical forgiveness is choosing to not get revenge. It's a choice. As far The wounds part, that takes time to heal through reading the word of God, as it it's your medicine proverbs 4:22, and prayer.
But what I have been learning lately, is appearantly prayer and fasting is suppose to be a powerful tool to cleanse us spiritually and to break strong holds and things we just can't seem to do, appearantly can be done through prayer and fasting. So learn about prayer and fasting and look up prayer and fasting miracles.

And loving God more, I think comes naturally as you continue following Him. His spirit is the one that produces the fruits through you. And one of those fruits is Love.

God is family. Once your relationship deepens with Him your view on loving Him more will change. It's not a bad thing. It'll be the type of relationship you want to share. As for forgiveness, you're only hurting yourself because that person has moved on. I used to be that way but my love for God lead me to pray for those who hurt me.
