At least in PR climate, Magalanthus is always the first like for example Frankie's Red, Peruvian Orange, Yellow Thai, Mega Red, Desert King, and of course Palora, along side Connie Mayer. Not the best cause megalanthus pollen suck for Connie Mayer (either aborts or fruit is small, I've tried with all of them), but good because all those megalanthus are self fertile. Then shortly after sugar dragon kicks in with Florida Sweet and my hybrids Maya pink and hollow purple (Connie Mayer x Florida Sweet) even before sugar dragon or Florida Sweet. Then Orange giant, Hana, Thai pink, Asunta 5, Tricia, susnet sherbet, asunta 2, and dark star woke up at almost the same time. My last ones have been physical graffiti, Cebra, baby cerrado, some more Florida Sweet, and some white varieties.
I live in central Florida. I have one dragon fruit cutting that i bought 8 years ago, planted ot on a pot and as ot grow i change it to a bigger pot. I got busy with other plants and it was next to a big Queen Wrath. It gave fruit a couple of times, but i never got them the opossum or racoon got the first. Then i saw your RUclips video last year and i transplanted it in 4 25 gallon containers, it had grown 20 feet up in the Queens Wrath. Last year the original blommed with around 20 flowers. But after it was finish blooming all the buds fall of after 10 days. This year all have just blommed in middel of June and same thing happened. They are now having new buds and are goingvto bloom in a week. I did hand pollinate them, could this be the reason they fall off? I don't know what variety i got, all i can remember from seing the fruit earlier is that it was a kind of purple / green. All flower buds are on the end of the branch sometimes two together, an any bud higher on the branch always get yellow and fall off when it is the size of a small grape. Any idea?
Bummer. They sound self sterile. You need to cross pollenate using different pollen from a different variety. Perhaps get a Sugar Dragon or American Beauty to use the pollen on your flowers? Another option is to join a dragonfruit Facebook group in your area and members share pollen :)
Hey brother, I got fed, purple and the yellow pitaya dragon fruit plant. There are small, firt year I plant them but I don't know what type of pollen I can use
I’ve picked up from watching your videos and others that fruit set with sugar dragon are smaller in size. Is this true? Both you and grafting dragon fruit show smaller fruit side by side with a fruit pollinated with sugar dragon and another pollen source with sugar dragon pollen producing the smaller fruit. What’s your real life experience?
I cross pollinate every flower I can. I noticed that some self fertile varieties make small fruit when self pollinated. I like using Sugar Dragon to pollen to cross pollinate and do NOT think the pollen makes smaller fruit, but it should be tested. I'll explore this more this season.
Cactus Rust. There are a few different pathogens that affect these plants from cold and damp conditions. It gets cooked off and dies during the summer here.
Do you thin your sugar dragon buds? The buds have been growing for a month now & they aren’t very big yet; why would it be taking so long to get to flower? I live in Los Angeles

Nice, such a different climate than here. Some mature megalanthus will fruit here, unless it gets too damaged from the winter.
Looks amazing! Your a busy man. Love the videos 🐉🔥
Thanks 👍
Awesome
I liked this type of videos...

Very big like 👌
Thank you so much 😀

I just realize that I had sugar dragon under the wrong category. Thanks for the correction Paul.
No problem, way to catch it
Beautiful. Wish I had some. 🥰

Try to cross pollenate whenever possible. Store pollen in your fridge.
Do dragon fruit cacti need dormancy period like desert cacti?
No, they will grow all year in the tropics, but they don't flower and fruit all year from what I understand.
Edgars Baby first bloom for my collection.
congrats
