As you will see it is an important nutrient however when broken down in the body uric acid is a by product. Uric acid itself is also useful for a number of things like as an antioxidant for one, but if it builds up to excessive levels it can lead to Uric acid crystals forming and cause gout. I would suggest that real the problem though is a dysfunction of Uric acid excretion rather than consumption of purines and gout only seems to occur in the presence of insulin resistance and chronic blood sugar dysregulation. So rather than trying to Band-Aid the problem by avoiding the Uric acid precursor I’m suggesting it would be far more effective to address the blood sugar dysregulation especially when that problem will lead to a plethora of other issues if left unaddressed.
