"Takes up too much space." But that's why movie rental stores were so great. You can rent them, enjoy watching them, and return it back when you are done. No space required except for a small temporary space.
Agree. Although, this never phases me because I’m a collector. I don’t mind providing the space. Besides, I only choose titles I know I will love and re-consume for years to come. If it was only alright, of course, I’ll opt for streaming. Usually free, but if it’s available on a service I already pay for then I’ll watch there. I still prefer free streaming. There’s so many rules with legal ones. Like Netflix has InuYasha, but they didn’t think it was necessary to pay for the music rights? Now that just broke my heart. The whole reason I wanted to rewatch was for the OPs and EDs. It’s such a downgrade without them. Even though, I appreciate Netflix getting creative by using the OST if the music rights were really not possible. Or CR and all their crashes back in the mid 2010s and CR not caring about the old titles. Only new seasonal titles mattered. All of the streaming services get on my nerves at times. Every single one of them. Physical media all the way! Free streaming if I’m not willing to pay for the blu-ray. Or if it’s not on my list of legal streaming. I tend to stick with Netflix, HiDive, and Hulu depending on how I feel throughout the year. I might try out CR again one of these days, since they’ve “improved” so, I’ve heard. That’s always the story with hardcore CR fans. They could truly do no wrong with some. Still, I’m not over their BS from the 2010s and I’m not sure if I want to support their aims towards monopoly.
At the same time, they’re a company like all the rest. Sure, it hurts seeing their beginnings to now. Believing they were the hero my generation wanted and thought they were, but maybe I should just consider them a scummy company like all the rest. It’s how the story always goes. But, they’ve got a large anime library. Maybe that’s all that matters. I’m still always gonna support physical though. Always been a physical girlie. Physical books, physical discs, etc. I’m even considering getting a music player again to play CDs now that physical is returning to stores like Target. I still have a few from the 00s on my shelf. They’re on my phone, too, but I really do miss CD players.
Great video with valid points. I think that the best of both worlds is: 1. Host your own media server (Plex, Jellyfin, etc) 2. Rip your physical media and store it digitally on your server 3. Stream it wherever and whenever
On newer prints, they can. That's why owning as original a copy as possible is important-unless, of course, it's an enthusiast release and confirmed to being uncut and unchanged in any way. For this very reason, I never get rid of my old DVDs when I upgrade to Blu-ray. I want to be sure I have the original version of the Blu-ray before it ends up being butchered.
Another issue is when you want to watch entertainment with family members like your nephews or the new generation the physical media is better so that everyone can own it
@@sonnyvarioni1654 i’m saying physical media should be important to show to everyone especially the newer generation of people instead of streaming cause watching it better in a group works better
Great video Ben! I’ll never forget going to the video rental stores as a kid and picking out DVD’s. There was just something so special about it that has carried with me throughout my life. I’m proud to be a movie collector and I love physical media! 🤘🏻
These are all reasons I was against Netflix from the very beginning, but people got into Netflix and look what it did to Nickelodeon! They were going to show a new Rocko’s Modern Life movie on Nick in 2018 and he was finally going to come back from outer space, but due to Netflix’s success, Nick canceled the Rocko movie and threw it away to Netflix, becoming a Netflix Original instead! Because of that, it’s not legit Nick canon and Rocko never returned from outer space!
Also, corporations will update their movies’ logos just to keep up with the times. It’s a nostalgia drainer. The Redbox at my Hannaford is going away. We gotta support physical media.
Lots of times streaming services will have shows like Seinfeld in the wrong aspect ratio which is annoying, DVD usually does not have that issue and streaming services also seem to be lacking in special features(Disney Plus has a few but not many compared to DVDs). I think there are good original shows on streaming but lots of times I prefer to buy films on DVD for the sake of convenience as then I don't have to deal with buffering issues on streaming sites.
I agree completely. When I had slower Internet movies would buffer a lot and would change quality constantly which isn’t a fun experience. Special features is another HUGE reasons why I love physical media. So many movies & shows had tons of extras on the discs such as deleted scenes, behind the scenes and making of documentaries that are not included with streaming services.
Good video and good points! I liked the skits, especially the grandfather character. they're cute and silly and didn't get annoying, which is sorta common for videos with skits interspersed with the actual content (imo)
Interesting. Fun video. I like the character you made complaining about all the name changes for the HBO app (all four app names). You made some good points. I think the video could have gone in depth more on some of the points, though. Or elaborated some more on them. Still a nice video, though. For me, besides ownership, one of the biggest differences and selling points is the exclusive restorations and quality of the discs themselves. Tons of releases on disc feature new/exclusive restorations of 2K and/or 4K scans - often from the original camera negative. Exclusive restorations, higher bit-rates/better encoding, and lossless audio (often from the original master audio tapes from the negatives). So these are big advantages of physical media (for me especially). The streaming versions, if said films are even on streaming services, are sometimes in the wrong aspect ratio, or use dated old masters (either standard-definition or decade-old HD masters with no restoration work), or lossless audio, etc. I think for most people, myself included, ownership is the number one difference but for snobs like myself the advantages of the superior presentations ranks enormously high on the list of positives of physical versus streaming. By the way, you mentioned Coming 2 America as a streaming exclusive title but now it's available on Blu-ray disc.
I just miss the days of renting movies and seeing them in theaters Buying vhs of my fav movie I can’t stand the stress anymore Collecting movies Streaming It just sucks now
Good video. I hate streaming and I will never spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on something with media I don’t own. What a waste of money. I would rather make myself rich over other people and companies. Physical media rocks!! Thank you for making this.
The last 3 days I've played 3 different 4K movies, all three froze on me. The Sony X700 worked well for a year and now it is unstable. Cue the people who say you need to buy a better 4K player. I will, but even the cheapest DVD and Blu-ray players never froze on me. Hell, we've had DVD's that the kids scratched to bits and they never froze. The 4K format is flawed. Streaming has caught up in quality on several of the services, but not all, but they may as they are constantly improving the codecs. I'll probably grab the damn Panasonic player.
There are some settings that you can change that will probably help. Also, some 4k blu rays, specifically any dolby vision 100gb disc, have an invisible coating of some sort left over from the factory on the disc. Wiping off the disc with a microfiber cloth will also help. I have a Sony UBP-x800 Mark 2 4k Blu Ray Player and changing those settings as well as wiping off the discs worked like a charm!
I used to buy dvds every week before, then i recorded from the tv on vhs tape now i just pirate every film and stuff them on my 5 portable harddrives and connect it to my tv
The digital age of books and streaming platform services are really bad times, because nothing there belongs to the person. At some point, the platforms may remove them from the collection of favorite products. If the individual has a Wi-Fi internet connection, they can see that physical media and physical books are a better product option than digital things. CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays are the best solution for the lives of TV, art, literature and cinema fans. Remember this very well: exchange and replace all streaming e-books with physical format products, as this will help lead the intelligent person to a very healthy lifestyle. Think about this, my people.
I love tubi for discovery and watching shows I don't want to own. But I enjoy having physical all the way.. space is the only issue for me because I have a lot of tastes. I'm getting rid of the fluff now.. Watching blind buys
This Halloween season really made me want to start a collection again just to watch my favorite slashers i had to have 15 different services i was watching most on RUclips tv to high so ima start with my slashers and keep on till i have my favorites tubi can take care of the rest lol

With movies and tv shows they show on streaming services will they be comingout on dvd or blu-ray
Never paid for streaming. Never gonna pay for streaming.
Same here! Dvd's better!
Only streaming I watch are the free ad supported services like Pluto TV and Tubi. My physical collection is growing
I agree with you!
I love physical. I prefer physical media over Digital media.
💯
Physical Media Is Always The King for me!! Streaming on the other hand, is kind of like the equivalent to Cable/Satellite TV Providers!
Streaming services will never understand my tastes and never come close to giving me the insane cinematic experiences I crave.
Great video with valid points. I think that the best of both worlds is:

And don't forget the most important reason of all; the better picture quality of physical media over streaming...

The furthest I've gone is using pluto or tubi. But paying for a service when you don't get to own anything never made sense to me.

Hugely better picture and sound quality especially in a Blu ray disc

Just let me go into my retro room and gawk at my Vinyl, Sega Megadrive and Super Nintendo collections Always loved physical media.

Also, corporations will update their movies’ logos just to keep up with the times. It’s a nostalgia drainer.

This is one of the better videos ive seen when talking about this subject. Very well done.

Paid streaming does suck!! 🗑️
Physical media is KING 👍

Man that opening skit made me lmao
I refuse to waste my data cap on games or streaming anything. I already pay 170 a month without extra headache for going over
This channel is a hidden gem!
Good video and good points! I liked the skits, especially the grandfather character. they're cute and silly and didn't get annoying, which is sorta common for videos with skits interspersed with the actual content (imo)
Nostalgia And Nostalgic Forever
And you have to pay for internet every month where it don’t work that good in the first place
12:07 is literally the best way to explain this
Tubi had been forcing small film makers to edit their films for content.
I like Tubi but that’s just messed up.
Actually max has the rights for South Park not paramount plus (except for the special events)
Regardless great video
I hate trying to remember which button skips the previews.
you know about drop dead fred so i have a lot of respect for you now
And you can rip it and create your own Streaming service
That's what I've been doing for nearly 2 years
