This video is some good energy to start the week. As a Estorilense living in Lisboa I am officially jealous. You will never get sick of that morning view. With the ocean, the sky, the clouds, and light, the color, the atmosphere. It changes every day and year round, and it's really inspiring. I've never been to Madeira, but it looks like perfect.
From your lovely balcony you will be amazed by new years eve with one of the best fireworks in the world.
Madeira reminds me a lot of Taiwan. The flora and scenery look similar.
Taiwan has a subtropical climate, just like Madeira.

Good for going to Abrigo do Pastor and have a Canja and one poncha.They seal the road because everytime there is snownin Madeira tons of people go to Pico do Arieiro and as they are not prepared they get stuck and everytime is a mess and even the army has to go there to help and the cars sometimes stay there for weeks until the conditions change lol. And yes im commenting and watching at same time hahaha

Last month happened a much bigger snow storm in Madeira, that’s because the government closed the roads to the mountains.

Snowing in Madeira is so "rare" that it happens pretty much every year. Sometimes more than once, like in this year. And that's so far, because I bet it'll snow again in the Spring. As for having to walk there, why not if you were so desperate to film it? I did that in April of 1988 and the road was covered in snow right from where we left the car. :D

I went on a trip last Friday in Madeira and it was snowing a lot and there was plenty of hale (west side of the island and the plateou). The guide said the roads were closed because it is easier to close the roads than rescue people with the cars that are not adjusted to the weather.
You passed by "pico alto" ,One of the most beautiful viewpoints of funchal

I'm not surprised the road at elevation was closed. A lot of places don't plow. It's easier to keep the public away by closing off the road further down to avoid emergency vehicles chasing after road accidents, etc. Black ice can nab lots of folks who think they have a handle on the situation. Glad you were able to bounce back with the cable car down to the seaside hamlet!
You may want to stop in to the Tourist Information Office (used to be located in the same block as Blandy's Wine) as they may have all kinds of leads for you on what to see & do. Also, I heard there is now ferry service between Madeira and the Canary Islands (at least pre-pandemic). The black sand beaches of Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife may be worth a visit!

Portugal, usualy isnt used to snow in hot regions, roads are cut if there's any ice.
I love Azores very much, its speechless, but this year Im thinking of giving a chance to Madeira, maybe with a short stop in Porto Santo, the bigger an one of the greatest sand beaches in pt islands. Thanks for the videos.
