    I was in Swanage at the beginning of September and Weymouth in June. I love both Weymouth and Swanage. Weymouth has a bit more going on and stone pier cafe is one of my favourite spots watching the boats come in and out of the harbour. There is also something magical about Swanage and Purbeck that keeps me coming back. I love the walk to Old Harry Rocks. One of my favourite coastal walks followed by a drink at the Banks's Arms in Studland. Great to see you back in Dorset, my favourite county in the uk

      That's a very considered response. You clearly know both towns well and you're absolutely right about the stone pier cafe. Lovely spot. I used to row with the rowing club whose boat yard is just along there.
      The walk to Old Harry is spectacular. Last time I did that I came back over Ballard down. That's a tough one.

      Yes it's a wonderful place to be fair. For me nowhere is better than weymouth but I can understand that some people will prefer Swanage. It has so much going for it.
      Make sure you doget back down there soon. I'm sure you won't regret it.

      Well I know I'm biased and prefer weymouth but every time I visit Swanage I have to admit it's a very lovely place. I'd definitely recommend a visit if you can find the time. You're absolutely welcome.
      Thanks for taking the time to comment.

    Been visiting Swanage for over 55 years firstly on family holidays and then with my wife for holidays and to be honest as many times as possible during the year. We love Swanage and are intending to relocate there when we retire, it's our little piece of heaven. Watching this video makes us want to visit at the weekend for a stroll along the beach and pier and of course fish and chips.

      Sounds similar to my story with Weymouth. It's just a shame that you have to wait until you retire. Cheers.

    Aaah Swanage... my first trip to the beautiful County of Dorset back in 2018.
    It's well worth taking the steam train to Corfe Castle (though it's more ruin than Castle now) & and it's even better if you can catch the Falconry display.
    Beautiful view of Swanage & Studland Bays from Old Harry Rocks.
    On my final day, I even walked all the way to Worth Matravers & back,discovering The Dancing Ledge & Winspit Quarry on route.
    I have stayed in other parts of Dorset several times since then ❤

      The steam train is great. I loved the walk to Studland. I've been to old Harry many times now but I'll always remember just how it took me breath away the first time. Thanks Andy.

    Hi Jo, couldn't make my mind up. Living just outside of Yeovil & married to a local girl, everything between lulworth cove & lime regis, all's fair game. Thanks for the videos, all my favourites.

      Cheers John. Variety is the spice of life I guess. What's going on with Yeovil town centre? It looks so sorry for itself right now.

    • @johnmaynard3966
      @johnmaynard3966 Год назад +1

      The council are calling it "Yeovil Refresh". Basically they're annoying everyone who lives here, tarting up middle Street (pedestrian shopping street) and putting in some kind of fountain arrangement where, many years ago, there used to be some toilets at the bottom of it all. Most people would have preferred them to reinstate the toilets.
      Any remaining attractiveness of the place can be glimpsed if, when walking down middle Street, you look above the shop fronts.
      Although the council keep trying to bugger it up, the place still maintains some charm.
      I bet you wish you hadn't asked now.
      Thanks for the videos, I only found them a couple of days ago, I think they're brilliant. Cheers Jo 😁

      @johnmaynard3966 someone told me they found more than they bargained for when they dug it up and that's why it's gone on so long. I drive a bus into Yeovil bus station so I see it regularly.

    Great video again 🙂 Swanage looks beautiful and inviting. It is on my list along the SWCP, but it will take a few more years before I am there. I believe we'll take a rest day there and also take a ride with the steam train and visit Corfe Castle. Thank you for the tip 🙂 I cannot say which place is the better. I have been to Bournemouth many years ago, and I liked it a lot. But have not yet to Weymouth and Swanage 🙂

      I do recommend the steam train and Corfe Castle isso enigmatic too. I'm sure you'll love both Weymouth and Swanage when you get this far.
      What memories do you have of Bude? I'm only asking as I'm there right now.

    • @TravellingTorunn
      @TravellingTorunn Год назад +2

      @@JoeCoastal We liked Bude very much and stayed there one night in July 2017 at Brendon Arms which was lovely. We arrived late afternoon after having walked from Morwenstow. We walked past the lovely colourful beach cabins and the tidal pool, went right to the pub and wolfed down a pint of Sharps Pilsner (now Offshore) after a warm and hilly walk. Went up to the room to freshen up, had dinner, and then took a stroll along the harbour in the beautuful sunset. That was all we had time and energy for. We left next morning to walk to Crackington Haven.

    • @JoeCoastal
      @JoeCoastal  Год назад +1

      @TravellingTorunn we almost had lunch outside the Brendon arms but as it's by the road we opted for the bistro on the other side of the canal. It was lovely sitting in the afternoon sun watching the ducks and swans while geese flew overhead.

    About 10 years ago I got the train from Southampton where I live to Bournemouth, and did a coastal ride to corfe castle. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Still hoping to get to Swanage and Portland bill this year as would love to visit winspit quarry. But I've heard it's been closed.😔 hope that's not the case.🤞
