Hello. Great video. I live in the Okanagan. We go boating quite often on Okanagan Lake. Never done any fishing though. I am looking to start soon. I don't own a down rigger. With all the tips that you have shown can I just do Bucktails and spoons on top of the water while trolling as well can I possibly use Slip Weights of various sizes to possibly get to depths of 10'-30' running a flasher with an Apex or just a Plug. Do I need a leader if I'm just going after the small ones. Just wanting to catch fish. Not looking to break an size records yet. Lol.
Learned lots thanks to your video! I'm new to the Okanagan area and I am having a very difficult time catching anything. I'll definitely be picking up some buck tails and giving that a go.
Question for trolling in the shu with flatfish do you hit bottom while trolling or troll select depths let action attract thanks like your shu and kal lake content first time on these lakes with boat for birthday weekend our lake has lakers we use core line and t60 bottom hitting so just wondering if it's same 😊
In regards to targeting lake trout, yes keep it close to the bottom. A lot of it depends on the bottom. Rocky bottoms always presents the chance of losing a down rigger ball which can get expensive. For sure keep it close as you can though.
@@EsoxOutdoors thank you for reply sounds great 👍 ya same as my lake Sand in most areas except the rock incline area where they love to hang out lol ya lost a few balls in my time lol but I got spares and I'm usually on top of it I run lead 30 feet off DR then t60 keep ball about 15 feet off the floor usually hits just right with t60
The planner boards allow you to cover more ground horizontally and also adds a skipping action to your bait. Cannon balls on a down rigger allow you to bring your line down vertically to a depth. Whereas planner boards are just on top.
Great video! 👍 Do you use any bait to tip the hook on the lure at all? Could you also comment on the trolling speeds for the different lures you mentioned on the video? Thank you.
Yes bait can always help! I’ve never used bait for hooks other than worms on the spoons. In regards for trolling speeds I like to maintain speed between 2.3 - 3.1 MPH, often switching between speeds within that range can trigger a bite.
Hey man!! Awesome videos! I live across from Skaha lake.. I have been out there a few times with my 16 year old son,, but our best luck so far has been from the KVR bridge in OK Falls believe it or not.. We never have any luck out on the lake,,,,, Kind of drives me crazy.. We don't have down riggers but go old school with heavy trolling slip weights and still nothing. Well a few half pounders here and there but it can be very frustrating putting in 10 hours for a couple minnows lol.... I love fishing so just being out there is fine with me.. I am 53 and have caught record size fish , but my son who is 16 needs input lol.. At the KVR bridge we get very nice size trout with spoons etc.. And if all else fails we go for some bass and even Carp.. The Tips and tricks you shared are AWESOME!!! Thanks for the great info.. Hope to see you out there..
Thanks bro I lived in osoyoos for years but now live on the cost and have a cabin on Westside rode and was haveing a hard time geting the fishing down outta the two weeks on the water only got 2 Kokanee and a pink
Hi i hope you read my comment,I’m going to Kelowna this April and stay there for 4 days can you give me a tips where I can do fishing?thanks a lot, nice video..
@@EsoxOutdoors thank you for your reply I want to try okannagan lake,do you have any idea where I can do fishing in some part of okannagan?we gonna stay in a hotel for 4 days just wanna try my luck..
Fish along west side road if you’re going from shore. Could even try under the bridge! I don’t have a ton of experience fishing okanagan lake from shore but if I were you I’d contact Rodney reel outdoors who is the local fishing guide for okanagan lake! He will get you into some great fish.
I don’t have a ton of experience from shore on okanagan lake but... I have caught fishing in the outflow into okanagan river by the old sicamous. Along with some nice rainbows caught off the wind break at the Penticton marina.
srs Q. Do you actually EAT fish from Okanagan Lake? I've lived here in Ktown since 1977, and one used to be able to look down 15-20feet into CRYSTAL CLEAR water, but NOW, when you look down on a sunny day, can't barely see anything 5 feet down...all the grunge suspended and the gas/oil slicks...no thanks. I'd rather go up to McCullough Lakes, or Pennask area. Much smaller trout, but at least I feel better knowing they are fresh and pollute-free. Jus sayin. Didn't mean to be a Grinch on your great video, but I have seen how local ppl & tourists have ruined this beautiful lake. Kelowna grew too quickly for its own good.
Ironically I don’t really like to eat fish for all the fishing I do except for salmon/halibut/cod. So the answer is no I do not eat fish out of okanagan lake. I know of a lot of people that do and don’t hear much for complaints on taste but I do understand where you are coming from and do agree that it may have some effect of fish quality.

Thanks for the video! Can you explain please the reason behind the planner board? Why can't you just use cannon balls for weight?

Is there good fishing from shore on skaka lake?
I’ve fished for bass at the south end near the KVR bridge before! Not a ton of experience from shore though.

What flasher is that do you have a link?
My apologies but I’m not sure what the name of it is. Purchase them at Canadian tire I believe if that helps.
nice video ,, where a good place to fish from shore in South part of the lake? thank-you

Do you ever go for burbs in April ?
Never have before, but I’m planning are targeting them a little more this year! So stay tuned...
By watching all these videos about fishing here I'm assuming that my spinning real with 20lb test probably wont work
Depends what you’re fishing for and how you are fishing!
Good tips hit me up we can go out one day i like in Kelowna to
