Had the gold card since 2007. Got the SavorOne last year and haven’t looked back. 3% entertainment is also a super slept on category, it blows Gold out of the water for daily spend. Paired with my VX Biz card it’s been a killer combo.
Shake Shack FTW on the dining credit. My son gets a medium shake, and I get a small. $1.30 a month after the credit is a great father-son experience. I look forward to burning that credit with him once a month. I take an Uber or lift twice a month. The gold credit stacks nicely with the plat credit. Then I pay for it with a Delta card once a month for yet another $10 off. Both of these were lifestyle changes - but both are enhancements. Life is what you choose.
That is awesome! TBH that father son experience sounds priceless to me. 👏🏽 I'm glad that the gold credits work well with that. you definitely found a great way to get value from it.
This card essentially forces me to treat myself twice a month by eating out, which I otherwise wouldn’t do. I got $35 back from Amex offers on things that I would have spent money on anyway, and I used all of the monthly credits, so I really can’t complain about the membership for the first year.
TBF if you value it enough, that peace of mind or experience of eating out 2x a month can make it worth it on it's own. And it's always nice to save some money with offers along the way

the CCC is a great pick 🤝🏽
I get 4x on dining and groceries plus 6x on gas with my $75 Wyndham Earner Plus card… just saying.
Thats pretty good! I also like to look at what I can do with the points as well
Can't justify any coupon credit card anymore. I'm done with coupon system.
im starting to feel your pain with this card ☠️
I cancelled Gold after they switched from airline credit to useless Uber.
we didnt know how blessed we were with the airline credit 😢 but TBF the uber credit does fit the gold card better as being the food card.
@@ChaseYokoyama it was not my restaurant card, since I use Citi Prestige for that purpose. I was using it strictly for groceries, but then I switched to USB AR, then to Citi Premier, and then to Savor One. But now I just use gift cards which I buy at Staples or ODOM or Fluz. I could be using Custom Cash in combination with Curve, but I just buy a GC with it once a month. 9 GCs every month.
Might downgrade the gold to green or cancel if AMEX refresh is lackluster. This might be me in 2025.
unfortunately im assuming they will raise the annual fee and add more credits 😖
Were penny pinching on this video 😂
gotta do what you gotta do to justify the annual fee 🤷🏽♂️ im a frugal person by nature so I dont like spending money on a card that doesnt give me positive value
Couldn't agree more about the amex gold credit.
we will see how Amex stirs things up on this card in the future.
that is why i am tired of prepaid fee credit card. Many people saying its free trip, its not. You cant outsamrt than company study your spending bahavior. They tell where to spend, how mucb to spend, where to get back and how much it worth it. If they couldnt make huge profits of you, they just change the game either increasing fees or make rules on applying or redeem credit. You never gonna win. Its manipulated market
You would think you are the winner but in credit card game, you are the only fool
I can’t justify the Gold card in my town. Only have access to Cheesecake Factory. The platinum card works better for me.
Fair point. Dont stretch to justify a card if you dont have to. I still love my Platinum as well (for now at least....)
Chick Fil A sucks, way over priced even before uber price gouging.
Does it suck cause it’s over priced or does it suck cause it taste bad? 🤔
@ChaseYokoyama both, Popeyes chicken sandwich is better. Try that one out if u haven't already. Has better crunch and flavor.
@@johng.5100no way fam. Chik fil a sandwiches are the bomb! Especially their waffles fries and dips.
Us bank go gets u 4% cashback on dining
that's correct. dining it matches the gold but it earns 2x on groceries.
You were right. Did love this video. Hate blanket blind fanboy-ing.
Thank you! 🤙🏽 I might not be the right customer for the Amex gold anymore
@ChaseYokoyama the dining credit alone makes it not right for alot of ppl. Those restrictions on restaurants alone means most people won't get full $120 value. So the "effective annual fee of $10" that's been parroted across RUclips isn't really real.
What if Amex made Gold 5X for everything and no coupon book. I think many Gold Card holders should voice there opinion and let them know if they cancel maybe they will offer you more points a retention offer to not cancel if ask for retention offer
5x would be cool. im sure frequent diners and grocery shoppers (outside of Costco, Target, Walmart, etc.) would be okay with this change. However since I would still primarily shop at Costco idk if that 5x change would benefit me.
Chase "Problem with the Amex Gold card" Yokoyama 😂
hahah there you are! I missed these comments 🫶🏽
I recommend the U.S. Bank Altitude Go Card - 20,000 Sign Up Bonus Points; 4X all food purchases (includes Costco!); no annual fee. You’re welcome ❤
Thanks for sharing! Are you sure the card earns 4x on Costco purchases?
They're going to increase the annual fee again in 2025 anyway.
i bet all my money that you are correct with this one
Then don’t use Uber Eats just use the Uber credit card
dont want to use uber just for the uber card tho
You cannot use this at Walmart so it is a useless card.
its unfortunate it doesn't code at Walmart. It only codes at Walmart Neighborhood Markets
I get more value using the Wendy's app!
😂 on God lmao.
@@ChaseYokoyama 😂😂
I have the Gold, but after 1 year and getting that bonus, I will be using my Verizon Visa Signature card 4 % on groceries 3% takeouts no annual fee
ya there are so many more options than the Amex gold card. Good alternative Neno! 🤙🏽
Waste of time
its just not an ideal card for me anymore
I agree that look stronger and taller 😂 My family of spends a lot in groceries and love the referrals. Agree with your point of view Chase, great video!🫵
hahah im glad someone else noticed 😂 thank you Cesar!
