Two teenagers broke into an old man's house and smashed his legs with a crowbar so badly he had open fractures, when asked why they did it they said "they thought it was cool"
They walked out of court without punishment because they were "culturally detached"

Ginny Anderson opined that Maori do not belong in prisons, Andrew Little wanted the prison population reduced by over 30% (tellingly not crime), the Commissioner of Police Andrew Coster demurred on accepting the crime following the Gisborne floods. So how’s this working out for you NZ? I don’t know the answer to the vexing question of rising crime, but this current government has failed to protect the innocent.

Very fair, the raped child we don't help at the time or the terrified abused children are locked up into state care for further abuse and if they get angry or aren't prepared for the real world you may as well unlock one door and then lock them up again. People such as the Lake Alice/Ellis homes that spent years in prison, lost most of their life and are broken are given financial reparation, many die before the payout. The people that did these things have gone on for years and if any actually do pay do it in later life. Very fair. Obvious who you would support. What they may or may not have done never known because they were never believed and others beaten for speaking up. Why let the violence end for them. The prisons will continue it. However, those that can afford a good lawyer certainly don't usually end up the same.

Certainly the Maori seats are an anachronism. They were established to ensure that Maori were represented in the first NZ Parliament where there was a property requirement to be an eligible voter. Maori, as communal land owners, could not individually meet such a requirement. The seats were set up with all Maori men having the right to vote for them. So Maori men where one of the first groups in the world to have a universal suffrage!

Glad to hear that national will bring back the 3 strikes policy. However, I do strongly believe that, there should be some accountable on judges, who make mistakes. Either letting people out of prison early, who commit further serious crimes. Or even use non prison term, like home detention, where further crime is committed. These judges need to be removed, or offered further training. The public needs to be protected. This is the courts, primary role. If they don't or can't do this, then they are not fit for purpose. So what comes next. Anarchy.
So judges sort out the problem.
    Thank you for your consideration.

National (as ACT's partner) worries me. Luxon says no co-governance on public services but says nothing about public assets. So under National, can we expect unelected, unaccountable random people of some Maori descent to control all our public assets? New Zealand taxpayers will become tenants, paying unlimited 'rent' to racist randoms? Under Key, National starting this process on our coastline and now Luxon seems to support handing over control of our water, our DOC lands, our minerals, our public buildings/lands, etc, etc......I can't hear him denying it!

The National Party and Act Party questions the change. One press release only used "race" while the other release used "race and ethnicity " . The tik tok item pointed out the meaning of two words are different and so the press release which only used race was trying to make people think about something different to aim of the policy.
