Oooh, I love how they set that up! One class each month is awesome. When I'm learning, I need the, like, constant repetition, to really drill into something and have it be my sole focus. (So counter to my writing life right now, but who knows, maybe that'll eventually change too lolol.) OMG TWELVE MONTHS! So concentrated!

Love the philosophy of never stop learning!! I definitely feel happiest when I'm learning a new craft or expanding my skills. That time period where it's a little tough and you still have to start, stop, start over, continue again. SO good. Leaves me feeling proud at the end of the day!

Yay! Congrats! I can't wait to hear about what you're doing. I remember telling some co-workers about staying up all night to edit videotape and even a film project on an Avid flatbed and they thought I was ancient - I was like five years older than them. I just went to film school long just before everything changed to digital.

Yesss!!! I really didn't appreciate school or really take advantage of it when I went at 18. Now, I soak in every detail and learn to understand as opposed to just memorize! And awwwww!! Thank you so much!! Yup, I'm an old fart hahahaha!!! My mom is in her late seventies and everyone thinks she's in her 50s so hopefully I'll be like her lol!!
@@BeccaCSmith yes!! That’s exactly it!! When you are at school you learn to pass an exam, when you are older, you learn to actually learn it and gain knowledge. Makes the world of difference
I love to see someone so excited about learning like I am! As much as I complain about it, it helps my brain to focus on something instead of spiraling. Also, I get sleepy when reading too.
Finally someone who gets sleepy when they read lol!! I tell people this and they all look at me like I'm crazy hahaha!! And yessss!!! Being in school helps me feel focused and not spiral as well lol!!
I just came here to say that I don't know your life very well but when I tell you my jaw dropped when I saw 50! I thought you were my age - 32! Also amazing that you're starting again! Onto the next chapter!

Congrats on school! I looked at a similar style program when I was let go from my last job, a decade ago, but that kind of intensity (for something I was not passionate about but thought it would be 'profitable') with a young child was just not feasible for me at the time.
When I saw that pillow I immediately recognized it! I love The Lost Boys. It is probably the 'scariest' thing I actually like. The Lost Boys have been having a lot of little things come up in my choices lately.
OMG, I never considered Nano and going to school! (Probably because Nano was not a big thing around where I lived when I was in school!) But I do look forward to seeing what you are going to work on.
And yeah, the need to keep learning ... we all need that. School doesn't end after graduation. And I really wish that collegiate education was more available for people who just want to learn more and not just for degrees. (For example I want to learn French but I need the discipline of being in school, I don't have the greatest self motivation.)

Super exciting! Hope you have a lot of fun with your degree programme. I've had a little look through all the courses on it. Looks fantastic! I also did a masters that did one class at a time and honestly loved that format as you just get to nerd out about one topic for a while. One year masters are super intense, but also super rewarding. Hi Becca! I discovered your channel, and to be honest, your work has helped me a lot, as well as inspired me to continue writing. I would like to share with you that I graduated at 23 years old and immediately went for a master's degree. At the end I finished and was offered a PhD. I decided to wait and stop, and until I was 30s I started my PhD. I can tell you that when you have more experience, you take advantage of postgraduate studies. The knowledge you got 'tastes' better (that is my best description when learning something new). I am sure that, in my case, if I had pursued my PhD after my master's degree in my 20s, I would not have enjoyed it as much as I did in my 30s. Anyway, I am so glad you share that with us, you are a very beautiful person, and your soul is sincerely beautiful. I wish you all the best in your studies. best wishes!

Congrats! I'm 31 and I've been wanting to get my degree for a few years. Sadly, I don't have the financial means to do so. Seeing you taking your time and doing that at 50 is so inspirational to me. I can be patient and do that later in life, it's never too late! Wishing you all the best.

Ooo I definitely really felt the reading you did about being open to learning. That is where I am at. I feel like I am confident and decent at writing. But I still feel like I have a lot left to learn, and I buy a lot of books about writing and screenwriting in order to learn about the craft.
Yesssss! I'm the same way about my writing as well. We can always learn more. You never know when you'll find that mind-blowing piece of information that puts you on a whole new level!

I have been telling my niece, who had to leave Uni for some family circumstances in October, that she still have all the time in the world to go back and continue or even try to study something else she finds more interesting but she is struggling specially because she is trying to find a fully online Uni... anyway hope you have fun studying ❤

Hope you learn and thrive and share some of the new experiences with us, your followers. It's funny how your just starting your masters degree while I'm just starting my final month of finishing mine :') Also, I knew of a man who I believe was in his 60s/70s who was getting his bachelors degree in music at my old uni so you're not on your own with being a mature student :) I'm a mature student too but I'm only 29 :')
