    Thanks Hester for doing this video. I bought a gently used pro model last year and haven’t used it for a few months. Today I cranked it up and it was smoking a little which it’s never done. I pulled the oil fill cap off and the oil was cloudy. Dipped my finger in it and it smells like gas. Hopefully I didn’t do any damage. Now I see why you say to shut the gas off. I’ll change the oil tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed nothing happened in that 10 seconds I ran it. I can’t find my manual and I was so glad you showed me the drain plug because I forgot that screwed up plug is wheee it is. Is there a dipstick for this thing? I didn’t see one. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

      Definitely change that oil 👍🏻, there isn’t a dipstick on this particular model, the oil fill, is where you check the oil, you want the level to be just under the lip of the oil fill hole.

      @@hester781 thank you for the reply. I will definitely change the oil before I try to crank it again. Don’t you just love the way they position the dream hole for the oil.

    Very helpful video with some good tips. I've always used the "off switch" and over the years I've run into all the issues you mentioned! I'll use the fuel shut off in the future, thank you.

    Hester Awesome service on that Leaf vac... They are such a time saver. I did see a video years ago of a guy who bought two hand held leaf blowers and was able to corral a ton of leaves in much less time than raking. =D Great stuff!!!!!!

    I love that machine so much i built an addition onto my existing shed just to give the machine a nice and dry home. Im far from being a carpenter, but it turned out really nice.

    Great video. I have this same DR vac. The oil fill hole is in a hard-to-reach spot. I was wondering how you put your oil in. Also could you let me know what oil you use. Thanks

      It is definitely in a not so easy to get to location, I just use a flexible funnel, and for oil I’ve been using 10W-30 synthetic royal purple

    • @hester781

      So this particular model does not have an oil filter, I have yet to see a tow behind leaf back that utilizes and oil filter from factory

    How do you put oil in the engine? How much oil?

    • @hester781
      @hester781  Год назад +1

      There is a dipstick 2 inches up and to the left of the drain, you can see it at 3:20 . Use a long funnel and you fill it till it just starts coming out of the hole, about a quart maybe less. 👍🏻

    • @hester781

      Usually I'll use straight 30 weight and add a little zinc/anti wear additive. But 5 or 10w30 is fine as well

    How long has the heavier hose lasted

    • @hester781
      @hester781  2 года назад

      I’ve used it HEAVILY for 2 seasons now with no issues whatsoever. My buddy said he gets about 7-8 years out of his which is the same hose just mounted to a commercial vac trailer. however he stores his equipment indoors when not in use which can make all the difference in the world. The DR hoses I could never get a season out of one without duck taping the hell out of it lol

    • @hester781
