    Do you ever remember the tv show "ghost of the Underground" well, the story that has always stuck with me was that of a man seen working in the tunnels between Oval and Stockwell during a track walk at night, the inspector reported seeing this man with an old fashioned Tilley Lamp. The inspector reported coming across him at "South Island Place" a clearing of the tunnels between the 2 stations. I watched this to see if I could picture where that old folk with the Tilley lamp was spotted and how the environment must look. Apparently he was killed by a northern line train in 1950s and the driver reported seeing him holding a Tilley lamp. Very eerie.

    Thanks Guys, enjoyed it especially the bit Colindale to Hendon, used to have a couple of old great aunts who lived in a house almost above the Hendon Tunnel, (Colindeep Lane), many happy memories of the area. Tony (X Worker on LUL 1998-2000, engineering)

    Really enjoyable. I used to live in kings cross Edgeware than burnt oak then Hendon now mill hill but this reminds me how good london is. I still live here as a 13 year old but I’ll forever love this place and culture knowing I grew up in.

      What are these strange coloured trains. 50 - 60 years ago, when I rode on this line, to visit Grandma in Edgware, the trains were all-over red, and Finchley Central was 2s 6d from Golders Green (on the Northern Line).

      Plenty of rats on the underground mate. You can see rats and mice running under the tracks at the deep level stations

    A subtitle showing which station the train is about to stop would be great welcome…
    After 2 or 3 stops, we hardly know where we are

      You're right. Those of us who are unfamiliar, can only appreciate the "aesthetics" of the trip, without any informational content. So I downloaded a map of the Central London Underground. It seems this route is part of the "Northern" Line, and is apparently 80% underground, thus making it difficult to identify landmarks or visual "cues" as to where we are. Nevertheless, based on this and other video trips, IMHO, the London public transit system is the best in the whole world.

      It's a siding used by trains to reverse either from the depot to the platforms or from platforms to then stable in the depot.

    Anyone know where the sidings go before it enters the tunnel at golders green?

    • @BenTaylor.
      @BenTaylor.  4 года назад +2

      The tunnel on the far left of Golders Green is a shunting point for Trains to remover in and out of Golders Green Depot The sidings to the far right can stable up to 4 trains The bay platform at Golders Green is used for terminating trains at Golders Green and acts as a shuttle service between Edgeware and Golders Green
