Do you ever remember the tv show "ghost of the Underground" well, the story that has always stuck with me was that of a man seen working in the tunnels between Oval and Stockwell during a track walk at night, the inspector reported seeing this man with an old fashioned Tilley Lamp. The inspector reported coming across him at "South Island Place" a clearing of the tunnels between the 2 stations. I watched this to see if I could picture where that old folk with the Tilley lamp was spotted and how the environment must look. Apparently he was killed by a northern line train in 1950s and the driver reported seeing him holding a Tilley lamp. Very eerie.
Thanks Guys, enjoyed it especially the bit Colindale to Hendon, used to have a couple of old great aunts who lived in a house almost above the Hendon Tunnel, (Colindeep Lane), many happy memories of the area. Tony (X Worker on LUL 1998-2000, engineering)
Really enjoyable. I used to live in kings cross Edgeware than burnt oak then Hendon now mill hill but this reminds me how good london is. I still live here as a 13 year old but I’ll forever love this place and culture knowing I grew up in. COYB! Come on Chelsea!
What are these strange coloured trains. 50 - 60 years ago, when I rode on this line, to visit Grandma in Edgware, the trains were all-over red, and Finchley Central was 2s 6d from Golders Green (on the Northern Line).
You're right. Those of us who are unfamiliar, can only appreciate the "aesthetics" of the trip, without any informational content. So I downloaded a map of the Central London Underground. It seems this route is part of the "Northern" Line, and is apparently 80% underground, thus making it difficult to identify landmarks or visual "cues" as to where we are. Nevertheless, based on this and other video trips, IMHO, the London public transit system is the best in the whole world.
Why are the signals covered along the overground part of the journey, was this even safe??? After leaving Edgware I am sure we didn't see one operational signal
The tunnel on the far left of Golders Green is a shunting point for Trains to remover in and out of Golders Green Depot The sidings to the far right can stable up to 4 trains The bay platform at Golders Green is used for terminating trains at Golders Green and acts as a shuttle service between Edgeware and Golders Green
Hi there. I'm looking for London Underground footage for a video song and I want to know if I can use yours, naturally your credit will appear in the video. The song is called "Belsize Park": soundcloud.com/cassielmx/belsizepark As you can see, mi channel is totally amateur. Please let me know if you're interested. Cheers

COYB!
Come on Chelsea!
It makes me mad when someone puts an E In the middle of Edgware.
DONT DO IT!

This video is useful for helping me relax watch until my falling sleep! 👍
I do that too. It always works.
We used to live In Morden surrey and walked up to the depot and watch the trains come in.
Another great cab ride!
Thanks again!
My God! UKs subway: So clean!
No griffity or rats!
Plenty of rats on the underground mate. You can see rats and mice running under the tracks at the deep level stations
Then being fried by the rails
That’s because our underground system, is simply the greatest in the world.
Underground101 But it gets stuffy
There used to be fair bit of graffiti in the 80s during the Thatcher years of neglect but is better now.
A subtitle showing which station the train is about to stop would be great welcome…
After 2 or 3 stops, we hardly know where we are

Or looking at the station roundel as the train approaches may offer a clue!
Yes, You right I don’t know what station is?
About 14mins the train passes the station that was never completed. “Bull and Bush”.
Were you on work experience? Thought I heard the driver say that!
Would be nice if it had lights in the tunnel, but good video.
Oh ok, thanks.
Yeah the bulbs on this stock aren't really bright.
Tunnel Lights were sometimes left on to remind the driver of something unusual.
You skipped the journey from Elephant & Castle to Kennington :-(
Very good, though it seems as if train Lights show none of inside tunnel, wih only on occasions, Lights in tunnel.
At Golders Green the tunnel on the left why is it there for.
It's a siding used by trains to reverse either from the depot to the platforms or from platforms to then stable in the depot.
Why are the signals covered along the overground part of the journey, was this even safe??? After leaving Edgware I am sure we didn't see one operational signal
the Line is now ATO
The old signals are no longer used but they have not yet been removed
it sounds like an alstom citadis
? ok
Anyone know where the sidings go before it enters the tunnel at golders green?
The tunnel on the far left of Golders Green is a shunting point for Trains to remover in and out of Golders Green Depot The sidings to the far right can stable up to 4 trains The bay platform at Golders Green is used for terminating trains at Golders Green and acts as a shuttle service between Edgeware and Golders Green
Ben's Underground Trains it is the same depot that northern line trains were refurbished right?
Is it the 1959 stock? 🚇
1995 Stock
Garauntee management were in the cab when this was being recorded
Video 125 covers this exact journey with Milky
the phoenix 315 but not with TBTC they need to do a update version of the Northern Line
Where’s Camden Town
Hi there.

I give you permission to use this footage but once you've done and uploaded it can you send me a link and give me credit
We have a deal!
I'll send you the link and give you credit. Thanks mate!
i like these videos but would be much better if the tunnels were edited out
then there would be no point of deep level Tube Lines then
@@BenTaylor. yes i understand that but tunnels are dreeary
You definitely need a new camera that can show the beauty of the old tunnels. Staring for a minute in total darkness is not cool.
I stopped using this camera long time ago
fantastic vid and for all those who want the names of stations read out, they are on the roundels!
