Thank you for checking out one of the greatest Brazilian bands ever, JP! This is a very famous song from them, it's certified classic here in Brazil.
About deep cuts, maybe you would like "Música de Trabalho" ("Work Song"), "1965 (Duas Tribos)" ("Two Tribes") or "Metrópole".
For a more experimental sound, check out "Metal Contra as Nuvens" (something like "Metal on Clouds"), "A Montanha Mágica" ("The Magic Mountain") and "Clarisse".
    Cheers from Brazil! 🇧🇷

Wow JP, I'm surprised that you take the time to check out some South American rock bands. Legião Urbana was an important band for its generation. They are one of a group of bands that assaulted the airwaves in the early eighties all from the nations capitol Brasilia. The name meaning Urban Legion called attention not just for the sparkling sounding guitar of Dado Villa-Lobos but mostly for the quality of singers Renato Russo's lyrics. Their first two albums are full of songs about relationships that can be read as not of a couple but of a generation with its country. Tempo Perdido, meaning Time Lost is, under the surface, questioning a new younger generation if they are prepared to get old under military dictatorship too. A more direct song from their first album is Soldado (Soldier) where he talks about playing soldier as a child; then repeatedly asks the question 'who is the enemy? who are you?'. Historically speaking, dictatorship in Brazil will fall under the weight of a failed economy a few years later in 1986. Renato Russo died early of AIDs related disease. Thank you for playing this and perhaps helping to expand the fanbase. Stay healthy.

When I was travelling by coach through Brazil, I once had a talk with a young man who was my seatmate, asking him for cool Brazilian bands. He told me about Kid Abelha and Legião Urbana. As for the latter I appreciated their album Dois, especially the last track, "Indios", one of their hits. Another band suggested, not rock but ambiant/experimental, was Uakti, quite interesting listening should I say.

This was quite a surprise! I would recommend talking a look at the translated lyrics for any Legião Urbana song you check out, it's their calling card. Renato Russo (the singer and leader of the band) was quite the wordsmith.
For other songs to check out: Índios, Que País é Esse, Será and Faroeste Caboclo.

You should give a listen to one of the greatest musicians that got popular on the 80's. His name is Djavan and he has a song featuring none other than Stevie Wonder playing the harmonica.

    Ok, brazilian territory!
Legião Urbana (Urban Legion) was very popular band in the eighties and early nineties. As I imagine, you like song with a tale to tell, so.... from this band, try a video with english lyrics of the songs 'FAROESTE CABOCLO' and 'EDUARDO E MÔNICA'. I think you'll like: the first is an epic lower class in brazilian society (and maybe american too) and the second is about the love of two very different persons.
Another one is 'ÍNDIOS', about the treatment of indigenous people from Brazil when european "discovered" this lands... Maybde it echoes native americans feelings...

P.S.: all songs I think are better in studio versions, especially 'INDIOS' because you'll not find a english subtitled video (and the acoustic versions are very weak)

Check out Soldados from their first album, or maybe Angra dos Reis. For a deep cut, try Acrilic on Canvas from their second album.
There are a lot of other songs I could mention, the well is deep. And a lot of other bands and artists from that period, like Barão Vermelho, Cazuza (who came out of Barão Vermelho), Engenheiros do Hawaii, Titãs and Paralamas do Sucesso are probably the best, for me at least.

You know what they say: you give your finger and next time people will want your hand.
I haven't give up in request of non-english speaking artists. And you've been good for us (you've been good for everyone, in fact, such a diversity in your channel 😊)
Next time, for you guitarist section you do once in a while (Paco de Lucia, Andrés Segóvia, etc..) just don't forget to react and see a Carlos Paredes performance. You will be blown away.
Specially this song (there aren't many videos from him playing live, unfortunately)
    ruclips.net/video/Y8cR1M1_wWU/видео.htmlsi=1JEm6-OW5IPh22me
(poor video quality, but one of his unbelievable songs, "Variations in D Minor"
    ruclips.net/video/tWP5AUlKsEY/видео.htmlsi=0ofVi0HgkTvTTA0D
    (soulfull song "Dawning Chant")
    Or (only audio) ruclips.net/video/k9cqXIk2B04/видео.htmlsi=oqa_mn71mjpjzVid
("Perpetual Movement", his most technically astonishing song)
And, for last, his "anthem", his most known song (some argue it should be the national anthem. It is my opinion, too. But since it would be strange to adopt a song with no. Lyrics to a national anthem, we keep with what we got... 😢)
"Verdes Anos" (the variations theme, not the one he. Recorded later) (only audio. "Younger Years")
It's the first movement in the video , called "Despertar" ("Awakening")

You have it. Don't miss it, JP.

Sounded like Brazil's attempt at a 'The Smiths' knockoff band to me... Only blander, with a less charismatic, and capable vocalist. Where do you find this stuff :)

For a more soulful version of this kind of eighties sound but with "local" background, try Sétima Legião, try this
