70's Aerosmith was fire. Hard to beat their first five albums. You would have to look high and low to find a bad tune. Dive into that era of Aerosmith and you won't be disappointed.
Agree!
Wasn't to crazy about Draw the Line, but the four before were 100% bangers
@jaquestraw1 I hear ya. IMO, that album had about 5 real good rocking tunes and 4 fillers. Too be honest I didn't really like "Walk this way" off the Toys album. Maybe it was due to the massive overplay on AM radio, we'll never know. After the whole run dmc collaboration it kinda became lost it for me. I really liked the "Get Your Wings" and "Rocks" albums. Their first album Aerosmith which was released, then pulled and re-released after walk this way brought them some notoriety was vastly overlooked. My first concert was them as headliner with Bob Seger, Jeff Beck, Black Oak Arkansas and Poco, July 4th 1976. Miss those days, simpler times and people hadn't become so open minded that their brains were falling out.
@@edfoy2680 Right with you on all that! Yep, I miss those better days
First time seeing Aerosmith 1978
As a Brother✊🏿 from the Boogie Down Bronx, (59 years old) I was a big fan of Aerosmith. They had a funky groove to their rock thing. Way before Aerosmith collaborated with RunDmc, the drum intro to “Walk This Way” was cut and scratched at the hip hop club. Plus the original song is way better than that watered down rock/HipHop collabo!!! Yea I said it!!!😂😂
While I love the collab, I also agree the original is best. ❤
While I love the collab, I also agree the original is best. ❤
The collab was important in music history, but the original is what is on most people's playlists today.
yo - did you know that Steven Tyler's dad taught math at Cardinal Spellman HS in the Bronx! Concourse and 184th here for this 59 year old white boy! The cool thing about the Bronx was you could rock to Aerosmith and I could rock to Stevie Wonder and no one cared cause everyone understood!
Anything from the movie Dazed and Confused is a hit
That’s what I was thinking too
I think Toys in the Attic is my all time fav Aerosmith album.
Great song. Great reaction. This whole album is amazing.
Walk This Way released 1986 RUN DMC
Sweet Emotion released 1975 Aerosmith
My sister used to work at the rabbit farm. Lots of rabbits died back in the day. Pregnacy Test.
BORN AGAIN ROCK ! ....AERO-KING 🔥..... AEROSMITHS SECOND ALBUM , TOYS. GREAT ALBUM , THERE SLL MILIONARES ALREADY AND DO IT TO DEATH , AFTER..... GET YOUR WINGS ! HOOKED ALREADY....... PLEASE REACT TO """"NO MORE NO MORE ! SO SICK ! 💯🇺🇸
Toys and Rocks. Play them over and over. So good. Did see AcDc open for them back in the day. Good times.
1978 Winnipeg. My very first concert ever. My dad took me as Aerosmith and AcDc and the Stones were my first favourite bands. Honestly, from my memory, ACDC blew them outta the water. I remember when Aerosmith came on they were not same energy and everyone was chanting ACDC Acdc. Great memories of great music.
Two of the best albums in history.
Stay Cool 😎 and…
\m/ Stay Metal \m/
Early Aerosmith It's a Classic!! You guys are Great Reviewers!
The first album I ever bought with my own money was this album in 1975 when I was 8 years old. I heard Walk this Way and was hooked. The follow up album Rocks (1976) is Aerosmith’s masterpiece.
…….mine too, Lechmere department store, got to the first section “A’s” (Aerosmith) look down, saw the cover, “Toys In The Attic” less than 2 min. of looking, mom drove me home and listen to that album 2 weeks straight everyday. And that was the beginning of my obsession with collecting Vinyl ! (1975) 15yr old me , great memories 🔥🎸🔥
@@MikeOstrowski-iq8wfHad the cassette. Flipped it over & over & over...
My mother bought me the double live bootleg at the mall. I was hooked. Also my first concert in 79?
Rocks was my first! My cousin had it and I wore it out when visiting, Had to get my own.
Toy in the Attic and Rocks are my two favorite albums of theirs, and I got them both first on 8-Track tape; wore them out. Every time I listened to these two albums, and especially Rocks, on headphone I heard new sounds in the mix.
I've said for years, one of the first RAP/ HIP HOP records ever made. Structural and lyricly...
LOVE IN AN ELEVATOR
AEROSMITH
Their best album imo. No more no more should be next!!!!
Classic Aerosmith!
That sound you thought was a clap I believe Steven Tyler said was ripping paper...And the maraca sound at the beginning is a sugar packet! Nice job guy's!
I think it’s an interview with Howard Stern, but Steven Tyler mentioned forgetting to bring his maracas and just told the sound guy to turn the gain on the mic all the up and used the sugar packet like you mentioned. Also, in the beginning of the song, there’s a vibraslap that’s played three times but the third slap it broke. The just ran with it and left it in.
Toys in the Attic is solid gold from end to end. No bad tracks on this entire album.
"Can't catch me cuz the rabbit's done died" - how many folk get that line?
Please explain.
Old fart here, so….
The old pregnancy test The rabbit was injected from cells of the woman and they killed it and dissected it to see if it responded If ovaries were large Then woman was pregnant
Yeah, but it's based on a misnomer, as all the rabbits tested died, not just the bun-in-the-oven positive ones. In Aerosmith's defense, though, the misnomer was widely (mis)used.
I..know..because I'm old😂
Funny you mention that he's Rapping. Flash Forward to 1986 when RUN DMC does a remake of Aerosmith's tune "Walk This Way."
It was one of the first blendings of Rock and Rap. I believe RUN DMC created the first blended Rock/Rap tune with 84's "Rockbox." But I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm 62 years "young" and when I was in H.S., you couldn't go to a house party without "Toys In The Attic" blasting and us "bumping and grinding", I have been to hundreds of concerts and Aerosmith is a band that is a regret for me. I just never caught them in time...
I was there too bro!!
Excellent reaction!!! Thats my favorite Aerosmith song.
Aerosmith fucking Rocks!!! 🎸🎵💯🔥👏😎🍻🇺🇸☮️ Y'all Fucking Rock!!! Thx fellas😉😁✌️
#Spurs4Life
In 1975 they were playing at Winterland in San Francisco, it was only my 2nd concert , I was 15 yrs old. Ted Nugent was the opening act , he had just released the Nugent album , the one with Stranglehold on it. A coup.e of months before this on January 31st 1975 was my 1st concert ever also at Bill Grahams Winterland, the headliner was Kiss , the middle band was San Francisco's very own The Tubes who's 1st album wouldn't come out until June 15 of that year and the opening band we had never heard of before it was Rush on there Fly By Night tour with new drummer Neil Peart.. Those were magical times.
That’s how we like that!!
Growing up in the north of Boston Aerosmith were always the go to band. Drinking, fighting, jamming out and loving the ladies. There were around a hundred of us partying hard on the railroad tracks at midnight. Joe Perry even lived in the city at the time. You would see him renting movies with his girlfriend and he always said hi. Such good people. The Bad Boys from Boston Aerosmith.
Boy! Steven Tyler has some crazy vocal talent. I remember buying this album. My uncle took me to town after we finished putting up our last barn of tobacco, and he took me to the record shop (which was actually the Schwinn bike repair shop & automotive repair shop, combined) but they sold records in the back of the shop. I had to wait in line, but I was so excited when I got this record. I went home and immediately put it on to play. lol What great memories, thanks fellas for reacting to this one. We appreciate you. 💖
Here's another song that I'd suggest, if interested. *"Aerosmith - Walk This Way (Audio)" (channel: Aerosmith)* --This song was written by Steve Tyler and Joe Perry and is the second single from their 1975 album "Toys In The Attic." It peaked at number #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a part of a string of successful hits from the band.
You worked hard for that record 😆 No telling how much of my tobacco barning money went to buying albums and 8tracks. I think we probably listened to this album on a car stereo while we were taking out a barn. The farmer we worked for would let us listen to music when we were doing that.
Are Aerosmith members the grandfathers of rap? A lot of their studio techniques make an argument for it, like that "shoop" sound. Amazing song. "Toys in the Attic," one of the great '70s rock albums.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, 70s Aerosmith is the absolute best version of the band. It’s when their music was vital. The song writing during this era was incredible and iconic.
totally agreee....before they went pop!
There musta been something in the water back then because the catalogue of great music across all genres was inspired by something. It's uncanny how so many different musical minds from so many different backgrounds and influences could create such a wide variety of musical gold. Sadly it went south a few years later, never to recover.
@@MoMoMyPup10 Yep. There was still good music in the 80s and I liked some of the grunge stuff when that was all the rage, There’s still good music today although it’s getting lost in an ocean of information, diamonds in the waste.
I’m in complete agreement though because the late 60s and the entire 70s saw an unprecedented burst of musical creativity and excellence that I fear will never return sadly. Less people bother to learn their instruments now and with AI it certainly looks bleak.
@@itsmedrooms6071 Definitely agree. The 80's as a decade overall was good, but where it trended turned out to be a bad thing. Techno seemed to turn the whole industry artificial and uninspiring. And much of it didn't age well at all. Then lip sync and autotune destroyed everything.
Toys in the Attic, great album
Those high hats on the ands of 3 and 4 are grooving
That one is an icon for sure. Definitely jam that one in the younger years!
One of the most fun songs to play on the drums, right up there with Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas.
Sidenote: Aerosmith's first big hit has been a highlight of their live set for nearly 50 years.
Sooo much groove and swag in early Aerosmith.
This is such a big banger. The intro is so awesome, and then you’re just waiting for that first “SWEEEEEEEET”.Probably Aerosmith’s finest moment for me at least, and they had a LOT. Glad y’all dig the dirty on this.
"One Way Street", "Movin Out", "Mama Kin", "Dream On"... The 1st record will always be my fav.
One of the ALL TIME BEST ALBUMS
8th grade...my brother and I had the album.
They went to the studio with some INTENT that day!!! NICE ONE!! Probably my favorite by these guys. This and the entire first album. I seen these guys 7/21/1978 and AC/DC Highway To Hell tour opened for $12. Though Iconic and legendary, still underrated to me especially lyrically. Steve Tyler wrote DREAM ON when he was 14. Stack that with the rest and MAN!! Quite the catalog. Thanks Guys!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
you guys have a lot of years of catching up to do! i am 73 and still loving the oldies.
A couple more good ones from that album are; Round and Round__No More No More. My first concert was 1978 - Cal Jam 2; Aerosmith headlined it. I was 15yrs9mos, was there for more than 26 hours, my older brother got lost around noon...just before Santana played, and I hitch-hiked home (after Aerosmith) from the speedway to San Berdoo. I was hollering "anyone going to Berdoo?" and someone said "come on, we are." They lived just a few blocks from me.
Ahh the old days I was only 12-you would never ask anyone for a ride now that’s for sure. My wife and I both say we were born 5 years too late. Missed zeppelin-and Floyd in their prime and tons of other 70’s bands.. first show was RUSH in 81..
My first concert was Aerosmith in 79 I think. But Joe perry didn't go the tour. I was dissapointed but the show was pretty good in South Florida. I am jealous of that concert you went to especially the venue location. Also, there was no Santana there. I later saw Aerosmith 2 nights in a row in 84. The two shows were identical which was weird. But Aerosmith was my first favorite band. They were badass in the 70s.
Round and Round is hypnotic!
Great song, great album. Early Aerosmith is the best!
Rock on Laa, Rock on Chee!
Saw them live in Houston, 1978? Somebody passed an open fifth of Jack Daniels up onstage, and Steven took a big ol' pull off of it...Heh...
Used cruise around all night this in my 8track player 😅❤
Funk bells in the last verse
'Train kept a coming' & ' Lord of your Thighs' should be on your next listen list
Seasons of Wither, too!
In their day, some regarded Aerosmith as knock-off Rolling Stones. Over time, people have come around, and give them the respect they deserve. Many awesome, classic songs. Their cover of Walk This Way with Run DMC is about when that happened.
Oh man taking me back to when I was 16.
Damn, I got old in the last 48 years.
I love "Uncle Salty" from this same album. So many good songs on "Toys".
You can't go too wrong with most anything from the first 4 albums from these guys, in my opinion. For some of the best American made chainsaw-sounding raunchy barroom rock-n-roll, these guys have done it for me since Junior high. For an added bonus, some of "Live bootleg" kicks ass too. Keep up the good work fellas.
This song got overplayed on the radio. Have not listened to this in a long time. Sounded great. Great reaction fellas. Appreciate you 🙏 ❤❤ 3:17
Love your reactions. Introduce yourself and the song. Then straight into reaction. Love it.
KISS
Keep It Simple Stupid!
Was all set to see them in Tulsa on the 4th. Tyler hurt his vocal cords so tour canvelled. Damn.
Love them since Toys in the Attic Steve Tyler just has a pure rock voice it was made for Rock
Really need to do every song from this album. Toys in the attic. Get your wings and Aerosmith‘s first album. Also incredible!
Someone should sponsor full album reaction " Toys in the Attic" ( 75).
I would but not able at the moment.
Nah, Aerosmith were a singles band.
"Someone."???? YOU sponsor it. smfh
@lipby A singles band? You obviously didn't grow up with that album. I and.millions of others played it until the grooves wore out.
Every track is 🔥
@Cosmo-Kramer Cosmo love the name. Not in the position to do so at the moment.
I still play bass on this. 🎸
Aerosmith's rhythmic beats and changes were always a good fit for Rappers to sample. Their tempo on Walk This Way was a big reason
for RUN DMC to sample and give Aerosmith a shot in the arm for being part of a new generation of music. Everybody gotsta get paid.
Please react to - Back In The Saddle by Aerosmith !
Stunningly good album. Review the entire thing.
Since you mentioned Walk This Way....well, that's Aerosmith's song, to and Run DMC honoured them with the cover duet.
I was 5 years old when this album came out; I remember going with my neighbors/babysitters to buy it. I always loved the name & cover of this record and wanted to hear it. Thank you & nice review, as always, guys. Take care 🙂
Rocking out with the best as a kindergartener.
Our generation was fortunate with spectacular music. Today's illiterate punks have Drake and Katie Perry.
@sebastianblack6506 yep, it's true. I have always loved and been a big fan of music. Between my babysitters, my family, and Philadelphia radio, I feel lucky to have heard many genres of music in my life. You take care 🙂
@maxbrazil3712 you're right. We had radio and print media that were influential back in the day. Now, not so much. Good new bands are out there, but you have to search high & low to find them. Because we still have college and good rock radio stations in Philly, I do get to hear new music. It isn't the same as we had growing up and feel bad for kids today. You take care 🙂
Those first four albums are pure Aerosmith, ass kicking funk, rock, soul. What came after was a very watered down version of the same.
I’m surprised you didn’t point out the funky bells in the last verse
yea like alot of us ..... the quintessential rock n roll album. 2nd LP I ever bought. Even has my favorite 'smith song YOU SEE ME CRYIN' written by Steven about his daughter (actress) Liv when she was a child.
HEARD "WALK THIS WAY" WITH DMC????🎸🔔🎸
Love how different this song sounded from anything out at that time. Still holds up today. "Can't catch me cuz the rabbit done died"'-- daddy in a police car, girlfriend lied-- I always thought he was singing about a pregnancy test. Anybody else get that message from Sweet Emotions?? It's a banger!! 👍🏼 Right on!
Yup. I think that’s lost on younger reactors.
I always figured that's what it meant..
Yes. He got the girl pregnant.
Kids today don't know what a "rabbit test" is. 😂
Yep! And I learned about the rabbit pregnancy test (only way to do it way back when) from an episode of MASH!
Emotion? Sweet REACTION. I liked seeing Che groovin like he was around 4:08 especially, heh! "Love in an elevator" is another one of theirs with raunchy lyrics and even raunchier riffage. "Toys in the attic," the title track of the album here, is pretty mind-blowingly good. "Dude looks like a lady" is fun, and y'all prolly have heard it before. "Rag Doll" is another great funky one from their "sober" incarceration. "Back in the saddle" is a classic from when drugged-out Joe Perry and Steven Tyler were dubbed "The Toxic Twins."
I love watching you two review great 70’s rock!!
Great tune. And production. Kudos to producer Jack Douglas as well as the band.
Check "Seasons of Wither". Definitely a haunting tune.
Dusty Springfield. Son of a Preacher Man!!
70s Smith = High scool memories. Soo miss those days
Some argue if this was the first rap song. Others say that Blondie invented rap.
Close tie without checking the dates of the songs.
Had this on 8-Track playing in my 66 Mustang! Really enjoy your reviews.
Great song. The title track is still my favorite.
Great band seen them live lots of times so much to choose from try sick as a dog next or chip away the stone or Adam’s apple ❤
i saw them in concert 1978 tyler was soooo wasted couldnt remember the words
Seen Aerosmith 8x...
70's Aerosmith is just phenomenal.
No, Rap sounds like Aerosmith, which is more proof today's music sucks the schitbag of mediocre boredom.
One of the all time Classic rock songs. Tyler had bars back then. 😂
Now do Uncle Salty....then do Toys in the Attic...
Growing up in New England it was impossible to have not heard of Aerosmith, and all their songs, but when I was in the Army(way back!) I met people from the west coast who never heard of them! Blew my mind.
70's Aerosmith cooked. After that, they went pop-rock.
That just feels like real rock to me. That brings back a lot of memories to me. You should really check out a couple hard bangers from their first album, Walk the Dog, and, Mama Kin.
This song is in sooo many movies and shows. Iconic guitar riff and vocals
Another killer 70s band that got killed by the 80s.
This is from my favorite Aerosmith album Toy's In The Attic. Which I would also put in my top 10 Rock albums of all time. Aerosmith at their best!
The best analysis on RUclips. No nonsense and lots of depth 👍
Take me back to my 18th year. Toys in the Attic is still my favorite Aerosmith album by far.
"They went to the studio with some intent that day." Well said, sir!
top-tier rock song
I love the way the vibroslap breaks.
One of the greatest intros of all time
Early Aerosmith is the best!
Steven Tyler was the first wrapper!😊
I saw them live in the fall of 1975 while they were on the promotional tour for the album (“Toys in the Attic”) that this track is from.
They were the bottom band of a three act bill, Ted Nugent was in the middle and Edgar Winter with Rick Derringer was the headliner (that’s who I really went to see).
I didn’t know much about Aerosmith back then, but I was very impressed that night.
I’ve seen them a few times since then over the years, but that first performance is the one that’s staid with me almost 50 years later.
My favorite Aerosmith song of all time! I loved the Toys in the Attic album.
Another "hard" track from around the same era is Pat Travers "Evie' from Heat in the Street.
One of the greatest rock bands in history. You have to check out "Back in the Saddle."
