Around 1981 in league bowling at Forest Park lanes in Ft Worth we started hearing about this young 17 year old bowler who was going to be on the pro bowlers tour. Norm Duke.
That Purple Beast was absolutely perfect. The shell was reactive but never seemed to want to over react on dry lanes and the core didn't produce much flare, Duke could hit that ball as hard as he wanted and it never over hooked. That must have been like a dream come true for him lol.
Man, Duke threw a big bender during that 300. Whoa. Shows he could go up the lane or whatever was needed. Obviously one of the best to ever do it. Neat seeing a punk kid, Chris Barnes, coming onto the scene. Ron 'Kip' Winger was a sweathog, geeeez. Lol.

Wow, Duke actually rolled a 300 right beforehand and yet didn't get the bonus because it wasn't part of the live telecast...that kinda sucks.

My God, I hate that intro. Nothing like the classic music of the 70's and 80's.
