Electronic music is incredibly special because it adds another dimension of progression that traditional music doesn't really have -- even using a repeated melodic phrase, a story can be told just through the evolution of timbres.
@@dmallegro613 this is exactly what has been happening since Satie, Debussy, Shönberg, etc. electronic music isn't the way it is just because of the technology... in fact, it owes much more to the ideas laid down by composers and academians of 100 years ago, in response to the question that every composer from Bach to Brahms was trying to answer: instead of asking "where can this note go from here", the composers of the late 19th/early 20th centuries countered with the question "what can be done with this note?" @Gregory Santone composition techniques based on timbre (tone poem, Klangfarbenmelodie) can be traced as far back as Liszt and Beethoven. expressions of those same ideas can be found in diverse examples by Cage and Reich as much as they can in Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Aphex Twin, and J Dilla.
@@horseplanetpolicedepartmen4333 well, good techno stands up but I would say an overwhelming majority of it does not. For some reason EDM has a very short lifespan and actually sounds dated quicker than other genres of music. And I'm a synthesizer nerd. But I can listen to Bach well tempered Clavier until the day I die and never get bored. Same with Aphex twin. But most EDM sounds dated when it's five years old. Take Dub Step for example. Almost unlistenable today if it was composed five years ago.
This is why I love Synthesizers… the beautiful possibilities coming out of them and the pleasure of the possibilities when playing them. Music is the partner for life… even if it only lives inside our minds… music stays alive and will survive everything!

I just can't take this song out of my head. Since I know about it, I just think about it like hundreds of times everyday (not joking). I'm walking trough the woods with the dogs and when I realize I'm whistling the lead all the time, even some people already asked me what's that I'm always whistling about haha. Seriously tho, amazing jam, I just can't stop thinking how did you do that lead sequence wise.
Maybe, talkin' about nostalgia and romanticism, only Jean Michel Jarre music excites me more than this marvelous sequence ... i'm in love with this 7 minutes Joris's journey ❤🎹 🎼
Jesus Christ i had tears in my eyes listening to this. What an incredible track, beautiful. Please can you release this (or at the very least send me a copy please 😊😉) ❤
Amazing track! Would love to see a run-through/breakdown of how you created this, running through the Ableton project and each of the settings in the synths and 909 pattern.
Whoa incredible spiritual vibes! brings me back to the old skool beginning of the house scene! Pure electronic and puls beats, that how it al started. I imagine myself this could be the tune when the world created his own existence, or maybe when its all ending! I mean its all spiritual ! Go with the flow Joris we would like to more often these jamming sessions !✌💪
To create such beautiful sounds & emotions from stuff you plug in is, in my humble opinion, a rare talent. If the classical composers had had access to this kind of kit they’d have produced something similar! Anyway enough rambling, absolute quality Joris👌
You make such beautiful music! If I had the opportunity and the ability, I would make music exactly like that. Your music reaches me in a very emotional way...
Seems so simple... Just some knobs and faders... But it isn't, its the Person behind the knobs and faders, and there Talent ant years of playing... Thank you a lot for this peace of funtastic music
Thank you so much Joris !! you cannot imagine how this video transmits emotions and transports us into another dimension 🚀One of the best sounds I've listened to in a long time ! It's therapeutic ❤ Cheers from France !

Exactly but people mostly do not get it somehow ... you probably need to have gens for it I guess ...
And the percussion is different every time. For example they never repeat a 909 kick doing 4-on-the-floor. Oh wait...nvmnd.

I hear you!
Heard this like five times and no sign of stopping. This is more trance than half of the production that calls itself that - combined. Mind. Blown.
Totally agree. It's Friday in Scotland. Beer time. And this track will defo be on a few times tonight
Gerneralizing a bit, are we?
Not even trance, sorry. Not bad, but "Dream-Something".
Most of NL is stuck in trance forever 😂

I can’t even find the words to describe this as I am completely transported by the sound of the one and only !!
When that TD-3 comes in and helps support the 2600s beautiful arpeggios like an old friend.
Chord progressions, modulated lead, patience, magic.
I am listening to this at 07.30 in the morning at start of work. Early morning heaven! Sensitive track all the way.
I love this session. Thanks Joris
