Part 1: • Neil deGrasse Tyson on...
    --------
In this clip, Neil deGrasse Tyson revisits a previous statement about not believing in God. The astrophysicist/TV Host expanded on the quote by providing DJ Vlad with context while referring to a multitude of "gods" from various religions. He then states that the reason behind his viewpoint is that he values evidence and he has not seen any that suggest the existence of a higher power. As the interview moves along, he explains why he doesn't consider himself to be agnostic before outlining the difference between himself and individuals in that category. Neil also dissects the inaccuracies of the "B.C. and A.D." calendar. To hear more, scroll up and press play.

To me, it doesn't matter what religion you represent or what your beliefs are. If it helps you wake up at peace and give you hope/faith and the incentive to be a good person and treat people right, I respect it completely. And I don't understand how anybody can hate on that.

It matters because all but one "religion" would lead to a world that would spiral out of control when given enough time. Basically just take whatever "religions" you think there are, separate them and give them their own world and watch what happens as generations progress through time. The thing about that scenario though is we don't need to do that because we can see it play out in the world we live in currently.
Religion's in quotes because there's only one truth and its not to be confined or simplified into a man made word. Please accept Jesus and turn to God, and that goes for me as well.

I agree were all brothers and sisters at the end of the day and if something leads you to be good than good. But I still have to say eventually human beings have to get away from religion and they should start doing it now and at faster pace.
God The source of all things actually is a real existent power that we all come from believe it or not. Some people don't like that but it is actually a truth. But God is not religion, basically all religions from Christianity to Islam are man made constructs. Every religion has some truths in it that are beneficial to know, but what religion ultimately does is rob people from real authentic spirituality. It takes them from knowing the truth that they are gods themselves and have a lot of power in themselves to shape their own life, love themselves fully, command the life they want, and among many other important things as well.
it keeps you locked in a fantasy world of worshiping dead men that really have nothing to do with anything, and putting power, responsibility, respect, and credence on things outside of yourself. When you should be getting into yourself and your own power and advancing. Yes its nice to have faith in god and love god, that's a beautiful thing. But people never get past that part and realize they are the main character in their story in life and need to evolve and advance and get into themselves.
instead their stuck believing imaginary bullshit like there is such thing as hell, and a man 2000 years ago is the literal creator god, and all this islamic nonsense and what not. Its all bullshit, Its all taken out of context concepts made by men. Theres some profound truths that jesus and these men were trying to teach thousands of years ago but what happened was people took it mostly out of context and made a "religion" out of it and now people are stuck for generations with nonsense in their head. The original meanings were twisted around, misconstrued and were not even meant to be worshiped and made into a cult, AKA a religion.
long story short if religion gives you faith and makes you a good person that's good. But it should really be avoided and many people should start running from it because it takes you into fantasy land and gives you wrong beliefs and robs you of finding truth and your power. you dont need religion to be a good person, or to have faith, or love god and have a relationship with it

The world would not spiral out of control without religion. Proof of that is in my country Australia, we only have 43% christians, yet we have a five times lower crime rate than the highly christian U.S. we have an enjoyable lifestyle with people focusing on family life, and they’re not running around hurting, robbing, or killing people.

Humility is probably the only reason why I respect this guy, especially when considering that there are as many forms of atheism as there are unique theologies/definitions of god, so claiming that one is an atheist would require defining the specific god which one is rejecting, while it's impossible to find a definition which can fit all the theologies out there, and so it's much more reasonable to identify oneself as non-religious/sceptic, and instead make a critique of the specific theologies which one is encountering.

Imagination - Process of Pure Creation
The process of creation starts with thought
    - an idea, conception, visualization. Everything you see was once someone's idea. Nothing exists in your world that did not first exist as pure thought.
This is true of the universe as well.
Thought is the first level of creation.
Next comes the word. Everything you say is a thought expressed. It is creative and sends forth creative energy into the universe. Words are more dynamic (thus, some might say more creative) than thought, because words are a different level of vibration from thought. They disrupt (change, alter, affect) the universe with greater impact.
Words are the second level of creation.
    Next comes action.
Actions are words moving. Words are thoughts expressed. Thoughts are ideas formed. Ideas are energies come together. Energies are forces released. Forces are elements existent. Elements are particles of God, portions of ALL, the stuff of everything.
The beginning is God. The end is action. Action is God creating - or God experienced.
Hang on. There's one thing more I have to tell you. You are always seeing what by your terms you would define as the "past," even when you are looking at what is right in front of you.
    I am?
It is impossible to see The Present. The Present "happens," then turns into a burst of light, formed by energy dispersing, and that light reaches your receptors, your eyes, and it takes time for it to do that.
All the while the light is reaching you, life is going on, moving forward. The next event is happening while the light from the last event is reaching you.
The energy burst reaches your eyes, your receptors send that signal to your brain, which interprets the data and tells you what you are seeing. Yet that is not what is now in front of you at all. It is what you think you are seeing. That is, you are thinking about what you have seen, telling yourself what it is, and deciding what you are going to call it, while what is happening "now" is preceding your process, and awaiting it.
To put this simply, I am always one step ahead of you.
    My God, this is unbelievable.
Now listen. The more distance you place between your Self and the physical location of any event, the further into the "past" that event recedes. Place yourself a few light-years back, and what you are looking at happened very, very long ago, indeed.
Yet it did not happen "long ago." It is merely physical distance which has created the illusion of "time," and allowed you to experience your Self as being both "here, now" all the while you are being "there, then"!
One day you will see that what you call time and space are the same thing.
Then you will see that everything is happening right here, right now.
This is....this is....wild. I mean, I don't know what to make of all this.
When you understand what I have told you, you will understand that nothing you see is real. You are seeing the image of what was once an event, yet even that image, that energy burst, is something you are interpreting. Your personal interpretation of that image is called your image-ination.
And you can use your imagination to create anything. Because - and here is the greatest secret of all - your image-ination works both ways.
    Please?
You not only interpret energy, you create it. Imagination is a function of your mind, which is one-third of your three-part being. In your mind you image something, and it begins to take physical form. The longer you image it (and the more OF you who image it), the more physical that form becomes, until the increasing energy you have given it literally bursts into light, flashing an image of itself into what you call your reality.
You then "see" the image, and once again decide what it is. Thus, the cycle continues. This is what I have called The Process.
This is what YOU ARE. You ARE this Process.
This is what I have meant when I have said, you are both the Creator and the Created.
I have now brought it all together for you. We are concluding this dialogue, and I have explained to you the mechanics of the universe, the secret of all life.
    Okay.
Now as energy coalesced, it becomes, as I said, very concentrated. But the further one moves from the point of this concentration, the more dissipated the energy becomes. The "air becomes thinner." The aura fades. The energy never completely disappears, because it cannot. It is the stuff of which everything is made. It's All There Is. Yet it can become very, very thin, very subtle - almost "not there."
Then, in another place (read that, another part of Itself) it can again coalesce, once more "clumping together" to form what you call matter, and what "looks like" a discreet unit. Now the two units appear separate from each other, and in truth there is no separation at all.
This is, in very, very simple and elementary terms, the explanation behind the whole physical universe.
Wow. But can it be true? How do I know I haven't just made this all up?
Your scientists are already discovering that the building blocks of all of life are the same.
They brought back rocks from the moon and found the same stuff they find in trees. They take apart a tree and find the same stuff they find in you.
I tell you this: We are all the same stuff. (I and the Father are One Energy)
We are the same energy, coalesced, compressed in different ways to create different forms and different matter.
Nothing "matters" in and of itself. That is, nothing can become matter all by itself. Jesus said, "Without the Father, I am nothing." The Father of all is pure thought. This is the energy of life. This is what you have chosen to call Absolute Love.
This is the God and the Goddess, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. It is the All-in-All, the Unmoved Mover, the Prime Source. It is that which you have sought to understand from the beginning of time. The Great Mystery, the Endless Enigma, the Eternal Truth.
There is only One of Us, and so, it is THAT WHICH YOU ARE.

The reason I consider myself an atheist is because I believe in the harm religion has caused me and many people throughout history. I believe it’s why so many people readily accept lies and conspiracy theories, because a belief system based on faith does not require evidence to form a belief, which I think is fundamentally dangerous. Also, the biggest thing religion offers, an answer to the question “what happens when we die?”, I think is comforting at best, dangerous at worst. Because the concept of morality sprouted from
the understanding of our own mortality, and we cannot have a fully honest conversation about right and wrong with someone who believes their actions have consequences past their own death.

    • @christopheralcala2458
      @christopheralcala2458 7 месяцев назад +1

Well if you speak about the "harm of religion" that's a very broad perspective since the start of religion(s) so let's say we were talking about Christianity since it's the largest group then we would have to compare atheism vs Christianity and see the history of which group killed the most people whether genocide, war, or any inclusion. If we look only at the past century we see how Communist regimes thanks to the influence of Carl Marx as well have killed over 100 million lives and this is only in the past century... You brought up a very good point about needing "faith" and this "belief" system to BELIEVE in God, so I will ask you the same question. What is your proof that God doesn't exist? How did all of this perfection come to be about? How is the earth not too far yet not too close? How is our DNA perfect? How do our mere blood cells reproduce in masses of over 100 million per second and hundreds of billions per day at a 99.9999% replica of one another? How is it that the earths core is so perfect which we call 1G the 'standard gravity' that if it had a bit less force we would all float to space and if it had a bit more force we would all be crushed to death? See, it is the atheists that have to give proof that there is no God for the reason alone that the atheistic belief is derived from believing that all of this came from nothing, it is illogical to believe that something can happen without the cause and effect derivation. Something coming into existence without a cause? A higher source of power does exist prove me wrong. Believing in the morality of a human being has led to gruesome torture and inhuman activities and if we look at history and COMPARE history we will see that nothing comes from atheism but KAOs. Hope this helped.

@@christopheralcala2458 It is itrational to make an implausible pronouncement and then claim its irrefutability because its truth cannot be contested. If you maintain that purple people eaters exist on Mars can I prove that they don't? No, not absolutely, but since there is no evidence that they exist other than your statement, I can say that it is highly unlikely. The same applies to God. We have nothing but the claims of humans that God exists. I can't say with absolute certainty that there is no such being, but because there is no empirical evidence of it I can say that to the best of my knowledge God does not exist.
Also, the existence if things we don't understand does not prove the existence of God. We learn the causes of new things constantly. And, by the way, the reason life forms on Earth are compatible with gravity is not because God made it so; it is because we evolved to be compatible with the gravity of this planet. (smh) Theology isn't hard to figure out if you ACTUALLY care about the Truth -the idea that because there is an abundance of choices they then are therefore all wrong is idiotic, nor does it mean that they are all right for that matter, and moreover conflicts with the reason and logic that a "scientist" like Tyson should be adhering to. Tyson is a goof -he stood with GMO foods even though it's pretty much common knowledge at this point that it's best to eat as organic as possible, he looked like a bumbling tool when he tried to defend his libtard views in a gender/sex debate relatively recently, and the lack of any real scientific deductive reasoning when it comes to a surface question about theology shows that he is only a "scientist" professionally, and not a scientist intellectually. Fr tho his popularity says a lot about how most people these days can't think critically. 🙄
The hyperbolic number of 18,000 is disingenuously overinflated because Agnostics and "Atheists" think it helps their idiot capitulation of "tHeRe Is ToO mAnY cHoIcEs FoR uS to KnOw ThE tRuTh" -counting stories of people worshiping things that they thought (or knew) were just spiritual entities, NOT "gods", will result in moronic counts that end up looking like they're in the thousands, so if you take all the smaller entities out and realize that a lot of those tallies for that "18,000" number are talking about SIMILAR beings, meaning that there were "gods" that were counted MULTIPLE times to come up with that moronic "18,000" number, it then becomes a bit easier to figure things out once you realize what kind of disinfo it is to say that there are "18,000 dIfFeReNt gOdS". 👍
The existence of God is self evident, that's WHY secularists have the burden of proof on them, and MOST scientists throughout history have BEEN RELIGIOUS, but more specifically Christian -whether it's the CODE of reality with DNA (4-bit 3-D code couldn't just magically materialize naturally), the LAWS of nature (AGAIN with NO WAY TO COME ABOUT NATURALLY), or even Historical proof of things that happened in the Bible IN THE WAY THAT THE BIBLE SAYS, like the historical evidence of what happened at the crossing of the Red Sea, the proof is literally all over the place, and to deny the existence of God means that you either don't really care about the Truth, or actively hate the Truth. 💯
What it boils down to, is that we all have this time to find the Truth while we are alive, and if we don't figure it out before we pass, we'll KNOW Him in one way or another when all is said and done. ✌

I was informed many many different stories when I was a child, and as you know, children are like a sponge, they obsorbe what is told to them. As I grew up and continued to educate myself, I started to question certain logics behind what I was taught and learned myself. Sadly, in public, back in my country I would not be able to fully speak out without being deemed negatively, but thankfully there are so many amazing religious scholars who are super happy to listen to questions, discuss it and share their knowledge. Thats the answer here sadly. Its knowledge. Education, most people arent in lower income civilizations. I don't mean to poke at finance or economy, but it all ties together and as you all clearly know, there is not smoke without fire or some form of chemical reaction. My point is very simple, I refuse to obey words I am told by people, humans aren't perfect, only the creator, I believe there is a higher being in the creation of the conscious sense of what we call life, but is it truly what we are told, I find it hard to believe the words of others. I totally disagree with his reasons for rejecting the term atheist when describing himself. Maybe his definition works for him but it's not the definition I use. He said, in the beginning, that he doesn't believe in any of the gods that have been promoted, or similar words. That's the definition of an atheist in my book. My definition of atheist is anyone that doesn't believe in any god or gods. The part about cultural practices has nothing to do with belief. It's just a part of their culture.

The fact that the concept of God violates those laws and leaves many complex questions makes it really difficult for most scientist to accept and believe in His existence.

We tend to talk like this when indoctrinated with no actual proof just the Bible as a respected source.

Religions are by its nature wholesome, designed to give comfort to people when unexplained and unfortunate events occur such as illnesses or deaths of loved ones. They are designed to give order to people so that we can coexist in harmony. The different religions are like our languages, all designed to speak of love but unfortunately can be misused to speak of hatred, division and fear.

As an atheist i deeply enjoy and see the beauty in some religious celebration days. I even love to participate in them (as far as I'm aware of the rituals). And I'm not saying it as some hipster-shmuck who pretends to be "cool" about it - "oh yeah look at me I'm so speacial and not like the others". I seriously have a deep joy being a part of those rituals, meeting the people who share the same joy, having a delicious celebration meal together, having the moment of thought and reflection of depth of life and its experience while standing with the group of those who recite the prayers, the jokes and fun conversations during the group meal, the people dressing in best clothes they have for that moment...
How dead inside can one pretend to be to not enjoy those things? Why not just chill and enjoy each others company? Life is to short to not use the moments of joy gifted to you!
