I don’t understand the logic at 9:26. Turning away paying customers to pretend they’re busier than they are? They’d lose money to have empty tables just sitting there.
I dunno. Legit story, my cousin and his wife had their daughter's first birthday last september, and while it may not have been a 3-tier one, it was definetely not a normal birthday cake, and while some of it did end up sad and alone on the ground, she absolutely decimated what stayed on her plate, and when she first took a bite out of it from the top, her dad looked back at everyone else and said in a tone of confirmation "She's a Clark" (apparently eating/being able to eat alot is a thing in their family).
I think a 3yo _can_ appreciate the beauty of a well-done 3-tier cake, but I also agree it's really for the parent(s) trying to establish status ("conspicuous consumption", anyone?)
Story 3: Business owners, like anyone else, get to choose the terms on which they are selling their services. They don't have to sell things that they don't want to sell; they don't have to sell on a schedule which doesn't work for them, and they don't have to sell anything at all to people who behave abusively to them.
Story 2: I give the father this, at least he has the patience to wait the two hours for a table and not to make a scene to get one. But I have to point out that his daughter was right to just find another time to get a table.
If he was dining alone, he likely would have been able to get a table by this tactic. But since it was supposed to be a father/daughter dinner, he was vulnerable to guilt.
Story 2 - Wow, that was brilliant of OP. I give the ED props for sticking to his guns just to ‘prove a point’ but the way OP handled that guy was genius.
He wanted to prove a point over spending time with his daughter, he was vulnerable to a guilt attack. I doubt his daughter forgave him quickly because if this is how far he wants to go to be proven right, I doubt he's an easy man to live with, let alone be related too. Pride is a deadly sin for a reason: it ruins your relationships with others.
Last story makes me think of all those people who wait until Dec 24th to go Christmas shopping, then blame others for "ruining their kid's Christmas" when something is out of stock.

Whats important and crisis inducing for one person, may be someone elses normal everyday. Over all, I'm the type to bend over backwards to help if i'm given the respect, dignity and understanding. There were many last minuit orders i could squeeze in, had she not been so disrespectfull and entiled from the start.
What not even 3 year old will have a preference for a certain store's cakes, and what 3 year old absolutely needs a multi tiered cake? That lady in the last story would annoy me very early from the arm's crossed bullcrap and having to explain again about the week lead up that was just told to her. People like her just don't play attention to anything and seem to just think screaming and throwing enough of a tantrum will get their way and it's sad there are full grown adults like that
My guess is EM was just trying to outdo another mom (in preschool, playgroup, neighborhood, etc.) I seriously doubt her 3 year old had specified all the precise details!
@paulagoeringer9466 Yes. Toddler birthday parties aren't about the toddlers anymore. All about "keeping up with the Joneses" anymore. I just bet that somewhere, there's a three year old girl who wanted a Barbie themed party, and was told no because Mom had to show off to her mommy group. It's so sad.
@@jessicalee5260 It's all peacocking to me. These mothers need to be sat down and watch The _Bluey_ episode _Baby Race_ on repeat until the message sinks in.
Final Story - Holy Crap, This was an insane story! The way OP was describing Karen’s cake order makes in sound like it’s more for a wedding than a 3 year old’s birthday. I’m glad that OP’s alright and that witch was charged and banded from all of the local bakery’s.
I'm actually the OP! A pleasant surprize to my otherwise bad day hearing it on here! Honestly, this wasn't even the worst of some of the Entitled people who walked through the door. 😅😂 ot was located in a "richer" part of the city. Think golf corses, country clubs, that type. I could see a golf corse from my back door. And don't get me wrong, it was FANTASTIC for fancy cakes. Alot of kids getting multi level cakes and cupcakes for every event. Lots of return customers for every month shelling 500+ on huge cakes. Sometimes miss the cakes and having my own business. But work a much more fulfilling career now 😊
@@sakura1701 Oh wow, nice to meet you. I’m a cake decorator myself and I bake from home, and I honestly don’t think that I could’ve handled a customer like that. I’m glad to hear that everything is going good for you.
@@sakura1701Wow! Wonder if you’ve got enough stories to write a small book. “Horrific Tales from Karen Land Bakery.” I worked at a small bakery for about three months in high school. We once had a lady come in and start tossing cupcakes at the cashier because her husband had spelled their kid’s name wrong on the order sheet so that was the name put on the cupcakes. Was extra entertaining when one bounced off the display case and she slipped on it resulting in her busted tailbone. She was arrested but then tried to sue the bakery for medical bills and trauma. Eye roll 🙄 Owner just took the security camera footage to court. Cupcake quarterback has to pay the bakery owner’s legal fees.
@@EleanorofAquitaine42 Honestly, i probably did at one point haha. but i wouldnt be able to remember them at this point. Its been a rough couple years of mental health growth on my end. for the better of course! I;ve had a-many cupcakes thown at me. lmao
@@tmntfangirl4700 I was just happy to have finalized and close everything RIGHT before the pandemic hit. It would of financially killed my wife and I. I work now with a ton of vulnerable people with a lot of mental and health things going on. many which are dealing with drug and alcohol abuse. I;d take my crowd of people -detoxing from all that while trying to better themselves - over a single EP from the bakery any day.
the first story remindes me of one where the Karen was yelling at the young man behind the counter "I am the owner's wife, I'll get you fired" and the man turned around to the cook and said "Dad, when did you get remarried?" As for 2 they should have just thrown him out, it is a private buisness, they don't need a reason to have him tresspassed.
Bingo .... right there was reason enough to throw the entitled father out of the restaurant ..... sir, if you want to wait for 2.5 hours, fine, have at it, but you will not do it in here or outside anywhere on the property. Not outside of the entrance, not anywhere on the parking lot. You are free to return in 2.5 hours and take your chance for an empty table, but in the meantime, leave the property.
Honestly in that story the owner/husband shows a lack of humor. Just going "What the hell!" Instead of "What the hell, I told her to keep this secret!" Obviously only works if that's a type of joke you'd make in other situations too and use one of those fake outrage tones, to make sure it gets across as a joke, but still... Missed opportunity
Pizza vs Karen & Co. story: The irony of the cashier being one of the store's owners! Reservation story: Given that ED arrived with ONLY his daughter, I'm going to make a guess that its possible he had lost his wife/her mother, though possibly not recently, which is why OP's statement hit him so hard. Cake story: Lady, a 3 year old really isn't going to care that much about a cake flavor, they just want cake. Go to Walmart and get one. Good grief!
Cake story.... After her nonsense I'd have refused her service, call it a "Stupid Tax"! 😡 After that scalding coffee assault, I'd tell her, "You will miss your kid's birthday, you'll be in JAIL!" 🤨
Technically there is this really stupid scheme that failing restaurants some time try, where they label a table or 2 as "reserved" in order to make it seem like someone important might be coming by and when they obviously don't, the restaurant tells a walk in something along the lines of "you're in luck, we just had one of our reservations cancel" as a way to act like they aren't a failing business.
Worked at a pizza parlor and over half the restaurant was reserved by sport teams at a nearby tournament. Had people who refused to believe us when we said the groups were going to be there (called to let us know, love those!) Had another where the guy was too stupid to ask his group if they’d made a reservation, and didn’t know the organizing parent’s name… that was fun. Insisted we should take his money over the group that wasn’t there yet.
Story 3: I'm no expert in cake making (I only made one super basic chocolate cake that was small using an already made cake mix), but I'm PRETTY sure one does not simply make the cake Karen asked for in a couple days. Also, the ignorance and trying to push aside other orders is just not okay. But yeah, Karens are immature, and this one literally committed assault with a hot coffee as an intimidation tactic because she didn't feel like preordering a complex cake more than a week in advance and refused to take "No" for an answer.
The moment that Karen started arguing I'd have just booted her out. Wouldnt have taken it any further the moment she started throwing the smallest of tantrums and honestly if she threw a coffee at me that would have been the end of her while I pinned her down and waited for the cops.
If the karen just said that she didn't know to order a week in advance and asked if the baker could help her out, this wouldn't have even been a story.
I think it's possible to make even a wedding cake, a big multiple tier cake, in 1-3 days. However, it will need lots of man power, multiple or very big ovens, and most importantly, lots of money, since a cake made by multiple people will cost labor fees and many many other payments and fees...
@@teslagod7221that’s also not taking into account the other preorders that did get in a week in advance. Just because one may not take as long doesn’t mean her days aren’t full with other cakes. Bakers usually work super long hours as it is, I don’t think you want someone sleep deprived possibly screwing up the cake and getting your kid and their friends sick.
@@teslagod7221 HEY! Op actually here! It was my story and bakery! And No, a cake like this was not possible in her time frame, regardless of the man power I had. Nothing is magically going to make the gumpaste flowers dry faster. Gum paste flowers can take several days to fully dry. And./or take days to make because they can take several different drying stages. Many drying over night before beggining able to move on to the next stage that also takes another drying overnight No bakery I know is going to stress their staff out (Mid busy season) on last minute orders that are going to look rushed and halfa**ed. At least once that aren't frozen layers or cheep like walmart or costco. Decorating isn't aways quick and easy. There were many nights i was alone at the Bakery decorating until 2am because I took last minuit orders.
I used to work in a big box grocery store bakery. People do NOT understand what 24-hour notice is... and they REALLY didn't understand during the 'vid when we had to change to 72-hour notice. My favorite was some lady who had the audacity to THROW a cake to the ground and then go 'So, you gonna mark it down, now?' Nah, Karen. We gonna scan it out 'cause it's got plastic in it. She threatened to fire us... store manager threw HER out. With prejudice LOL
Story 3. Karen saying, "you can't press charges on me. I'm pressing them on you!" Has all the energy of that Timmy Turner meme, where he's ignoring his crush. Then she says, "Don't ignore me, I'm ignoring you!" Karen's gonna Karen I guess.
On story 3: I LOVE that all the other bakeries banded together and collectively banned her from all the town bakeries!! LMAO. That is GOLDEN Also DarkFluff, I love your stories, I've been lurking here for years. Thanks for narrating them for us...We love ya'll too!!
The OP in story 3 must have had to scrub down the establishment after that incident to make the bakery "nut free" again, as that Karen was all kinds of nuts...
Story 3: What happened to bake a cake yourself? As Karen said: "A Cake is easy". At least a simple one. And for a 3 year old any cake is wonderful. Also, you get enough decoration stuff at the supermarket, even themed ones (currently the biggest seller are edible Paw Patrol figurines here where I live).
Story 3 - ....she wanted a 3-tier cake for her daughter's 3rd birthday. She planning on freezing the other 2 layers? Unless it's a huge party, NO child's 3rd birthday needs that big a$$ cake. And, lady - if is so damn simple to make a cake, bake the damn thing yourself!
She was being a psycho on 2 issues: First, she chose a complicated custom order that would take more than the 7 day minimum, and she wanted it done in 3 days max! When OP finally talked Karen into ordering a basic cake, she then chooses the one flavor the store can't do. The warnings were all over the store-she couldn't miss them unless she WANTED TO. This situation felt like a setup for a lawsuit to me.
@@rpgqueen8737You’re right, buy a thing of cake mix, and get the eggs, water and oil (if you don’t already have it), maybe a pan too, and follow the instructions on the box… I don’t ever remember having a 3 tier cake like that for any of my birthdays, I think my mom made box cakes every time. I think I can maybe see the 3 tiers for the number of years that the child’s had so far, as another commenter posted, so hypothetically, the child might have an 18 tier cake when the child turns 18… The most I’ve ever seen is maybe a 4 tier cake at a wedding…
ESPECIALLY if you want a chocolate PEANUT BUTTER cake in a certified NUT/LEGUME-FREE bakery! Some people are *so* allergic to peanuts that they can't be around someone eating *plain* M&Ms without needing an Epi-pen!
The dad from story 2 seems to have gotten his head on straight after what the hostess said. My dad passed away a little over a year ago, and even though I'm 46, I'd give anything to have more father/daughter dinners with him.
What many people don't realize is that it's only the second half of the original quote, which was "In matters of taste, the customer is always right." That just means that if the hair stylist's customer wants their hair shaved off in random places and the rest dyed in horribly clashing loud colors, or if the restaurant's customer wants pickle relish on their ice cream sundae, or if the clothing shop customer wants a top and skirt that look hideous together, they can still have them, assuming they're paying properly for the service and behaving in a reasonable manner.
To the bakery story: I would totally get a baked souvenir at your shop if I'm ever a tourist in the area, that is if you have ready baked shelf items. I'm allergic to cashews and your bakery being nut free is wonderful.
Story 2: We all have a stubborn streak lurking in us somewhere and sometimes we need a little metaphorical slap in the face to snap us out of it. Kudos to the dad for realizing he was making a big mistake. Some people never learn.
Every time I hear one of these Karen’s going “I’m gonna have you fired.”I want to hear the fast food worker they’re yelling at go. “Oh no, not from my dream job no no no!”
Story 3: fun fact - it would have been assault even if not a drop of coffee had touched ChelleChellez). *With* the coffee hitting her, in most jurisdictions, that's battery. With the EM's intent and the result of causing bodily harm, it's probably aggravated battery. (IANAL.)
Story 3: damn, Karen is really lucky she didn't try that in most of the us, depending on the state the owner could have been allowed to respond very differently to assault
I retired as a baker. We would do custom cakes but couldn't do them quickly, on the spur of the moment. That said, there was one exception. Several young men in uniiform came in and it turns out they were in town for a military air show. These guys were part of a flight team from Chile, and they wanted a cake iced like the Chilean flag. We explained our policy but they begged so nicely, and were so good looking, and gave us emblem pins from the team. We did have several baked, uniced cakes and the design was so simple, three colors in horizontal bars. So we got their cake and they were so grateful. Go Halcones!
My favorite one was I heard a story of a person who came into a restaurant. They claimed to be the owners child. So the owner's son comes up and just says oh hey sis. He just starts acting all brotherly around her and then tells her to get out of his store
Story 3: If another customer like that can't grasp that they're peanut free, OP should just say it's because SHE is allergic to peanuts and call the person out for insisting that she endanger her own health. No one has to know otherwise.
Me too, because unless the daughter is the living incarnation of Angelica Pickles from Rugrats a 3 year old is not gonna care what the cake looks like or how big it is, they just want cake.
Story 3: Who TF would rob a vegan organic nut-free bakery? There's no money there and everything tastes like dirt. Maybe the robbers were illiterate and couldn't read the signs.
Story 3: Why not just ask them for suggestions on what to do when they can't take the order?? Sheesh.. They'd probably point to someplace worth giving business, even if won't be a custom cake.
A 3 tier cake for a 3 year old? My wedding cake was only 2 tiers. My most fanciest birthday cake was my 8th birthday. It was a sheet cake from Costco with frosting balloons and it saying Happy 8th Birthday (my name). Lady is lucky she lives in Canada not the USA. Aside from the ambulance ride she’d also be responsible for the medical bills even if they were covered under insurance. My husband was in a car accident that required an ambulance ride. It only cost us $50, we have good insurance. We later got it back. Our health insurance later went after the guy that hit him’s car insurance for the entire bill. Not just the initial ER bill but physical therapy, follow up appointments, medication etc.
Karen : "Customer is always right." OP : ".. on taste." Karen : "Then make peanut cake!" OP : "..." 😮 Karen : '..."😡 OP : "..."😟 Karen : '..."😡 OP : "..." ☹
Story 3: you know when your daughter’s birthday is, it’s the same day every year, so this lady has no excuse for putting in the order so close to her daughter’s birthday. Even if she couldn’t physically get there she could at least call
A couple of problem with ordering too far in advance, from small/independant bakeries are... (1) the bakery gets subsequently shut down, eg by the health inspector or because there are no employees to work the shifts. (2) the bakery goes bankrupt and all customers loose their deposits/payments. (3) natural disasters happen (eg like the fire that destroyed part of Jasper, last week). People do generally wait as long as they can, ordering as close as possible, to the event date, because of uncontrollable circumstances. But, people who wait until the last minute cannot be choosers. Or jerks.
Story 1 - LOL I LOVE how the co-owner of the store quotes store policy to Karen like it's beyond her control, even though as co-owner of the store she can really do whatever she wants. She just chooses not to 🤣 Story 2 - As a Warhammer player myself, given how expensive of a hobby it's always been (and how much MORE expensive it becomes every goddamn year 😖), I almost can't blame her for trying... ...almost. Considering how often that whole "I know/am friends with/am married to the owner" rigamarole is used and fails miserably, I think she'd've had better luck just tryna smuggle 'em out in her purse like most other would-be criminals/hucksters do. 🙄 Story 3 - DAMN, that was some straight-up thermonuclear emotional warfare.... I dunno if it's true or not (I sure hope not), but holy shit that was perfect. And that guy was trying to prove a point that he really didn't even have correct anyway. The restaurant was being 100% accurate and honest on its wait time. Story 4 - In my experience, the customer is always WRONG until being PROVEN right (a rare occurrence indeed). They're soooooo good at being wrong, though... and in the case of this crazy bitch, SPECTACULARLY wrong. Let's look at what it would cost this bakery to live by apply that ridiculous and long-obsolete (made as such by people like her) retail philosophy to this Karen: 1) potentially throw off the store's already full order schedule. 2) threaten to damage their reputation as a safe place for people with tree-nut allergies, an often-rarely seen such place! 3) by extension of #2, potentially threaten the health or even lives of those customers who DO in fact have serious tree-nut allergies via accidental cross-contamination, which can be so sensitive in some people that even so much as shaking hands with someone who themselves shook hands with someone who had even just passive contact with nuts is enough to trigger an anaphylactic reaction. ALL THAT just for ONE customer who's not even placing a very enticingly profitable order to begin with (it's not like it's a wedding cake or something), considering how unappreciative (and generally unpleasant) she's already been of the fact that OP was nice enough to even be willing to take her order AT ALL, nevermind setting aside the usual 7-day notice policy AND her already-filled schedule to do it for her. Also, people like this woman are EXTREMELY likely to try pulling some stupid attempt at getting the cake discounted or even free by nitpicking or even going low enough to try staging something to sue over. Their is no floor for people like these - they'll go as low as they have to to "get their way". And many of them are quite petty and can often be very, VERY vindictive. TLDR - This crazy bitch ain't worth it... Also, NO three-y.o. kid is gonna care about how "fancy" the cake is, or whether it's tiered, they're just gonna be thrilled that there's cake! 😁 Hell if I owned a business like OP I may put out one of those signs that reads "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", which I don't often see these days, interestingly... lol I'd be VERY tempted to include "Especially Karens - does NOT refer to people simply NAMED Karen", though I doubt that'd go over well - it'd be just like that episode of South Park where all the kids start calling the loud obnoxious Harley bikers in the area "fags" 🤣 Lol alright alright I'm rambling now - if you actually stuck with me up to this point, well... I'm the kinda person who'll read this far too.
I don't pre-order cakes but that because I'm ok with no custom writing as an adult and don't want any fancy 3 layer cake, simple Ice Cream Cake that Vanilla and Chocolate will do for my Bday.
Story 2 just peeves me off. What OP said I would kill to have a dinner with my parents again. Even just one. Almost 3 years later and I still miss both of them and I will never get something like that again. He better have made it up to his daughter.
@@patriziamares6757 She's like young Chilli Heeler trying to one-up Wendy (Judo's mum) by having Bluey start walking before Judo. At least Chilli cared for Bluey.
"I'M PRESSING CHARGES FOR ASSAULT!" -A Karen who just got injured, directly after committing assault Mental healthcare needs to be a bigger priority. The amount of people with so little self-awareness out there is frankly alarming to think about.
With the father proving a point, if i had been the one to talk to him id be asking if i could have dinner with her since he apparently doesn't want to, and I'd love to have a surrogate for the daughter i had to put up for adoption that i didn't get dinners, birthdays, graduations etc with.
Doesn't excuse her behavior, the first Karen didn’t understand that they were already ordered and were in the process of being made before she arrived when theae orders were ready. And then she assumed they just ordered.
An $80 ambulance fee (well, $80 if they live in certain provinces) is well worth having a medical report that says you received minor burns from this person's actions, especially if you want to go after that person 🙃
That last story made me so happy that I don't have allergies, and my mum makes great cakes. And I'm older than most here. In certain towns and establishments in the UK, that sort of behaviour would end up with an 'eff of you effing C' comment from the owner, and/or a forced removal from the premises before the coffee was thrown.
Story 3: Karens love digging their own graves don’t they. They make tantrums, assaulting people, playing the victim, lying to police and just keep digging and digging until it’s too late for them to apologize and try to take it back
Well, poor OP in Story 3 will have to take away the nut-free designation for her bakery for a while after that biggest nut of a Karen came in….Deep cleaning of the store with readings of sensible philosophy may be needed for a week to cleanse any presence of that insanity 😂
As a former cashier at a gas station, “The customer is always right” mantra is triggering to me. I didn’t do well with people yelling at me (I still don’t) but there were fortunately people behind such customers who would say something to the effect of “That person didn’t need to say that”. Two years was more than enough for an introvert like me. Word of advice: yelling at me for a mistake causes me to make more mistakes, so DON’T yell at me!
I used to work at Macy's. It was funny because people said that they knew who the store manager was and they were good friends with her. The funny thing is that even though the store manager's name was hanging from the doorway coming in they didn't have a picture he was not female he had a name that was could be male or female😮😂
As someone who works in a bakery I can confirm that a shocking number of people come in or call wanting to order a custom cake with only one or two days lead time and can't understand why we can't do a 3 tier cake with items we would need days to either make or order. I blame big chain stores where you can just walk in and get a sheet cake that came off a truck for this unreasonable expectation. Your Friendly Neighborhood Baker makes it from *scratch*.
I'll never understand how people will tolerate the kind of crap in story 3. I have ZERO tolerance for crazy and entitled. Thank goodness for that lady's father because she kept saying she knew what was coming but she kept letting it happen anyway.
In the last story I was almost expecting them to say the coffee had hazelnut flavoring in it and the reason it was a nut free bakery was that OP was allergic.
Story 3: as someone who works in a bakery, this is normal. I get people minutes til closing saying "it's my kid/partner/parent/grandparents birthday and I forgot. Do you have any prettier cakes then this?" And I think to myself you come here 10 minutes until close and you expect more then the bare bones? Why didn't you order it then? The answer is, they got lazy and forgot too until it was too late and were going to get into trouble.
Dad/daughter dinner story: the question at the end was, "Who would've thought you could beat a Karen with emotions?" I very much disagree with how the dad handled things in that story, but it was also obvious from the beginning that everything he was doing was out of a legitimate effort to be a good dad and do good things for his daughter. As a dad myself (granted, all my kids are very little), I can tell you that tactic would work on any dad who cared about his kids like that dad obviously did. He wanted a special day with his daughter, and it looked to him like someone was trying to ruin that, and she made him realize he was the one who was about to ruin it.
Just this year I had to make a short notice cake order for my daughters 17 birthday.. I felt so bad about it, but anyone with teenage child know it takes forever to get a solid answer.. she finally made up her mind on the video game hero Kirby.. I knew the food stores wouldn't do it right, I found a local bakery.. she wasn't having a large party so they did a simple round cake and it looked wonderful and my daughter loved it.. the bakery was closed on Sunday and Monday, her birthday was Monday and I ordered on a Tuesday for a Saturday pick up..
The Bakery lady is AWESOME! My oldest granddaughter has a tree-nut allergy. We have had to be very careful with things so she doesn't get into the nuts. Once she turned 7, she could ask the cafeteria at school if there were tree nuts in the food. She's now 22 and still highly allergic to them. This is why we have our pecan pie when she's not over for dinner and we make sure nothing is cooked the week she's going to be here and we clean everything. So, glad Karen went to jail (she deserved it) and a big thank you to the bakery owner on behalf of a nice young lady with an allergy.
I also love it when people say they’re gonna leave a bad review online, do these people know that the owners of establishments can refute a bad review?
Last Story: That crazy coffee-throwing Karen got exactly what she RIGHTFULLY deserved. I mean, SERIOUSLY?! You're going to throw steaming, piping hot coffee at OP (who just so happens to be the owner of the bakery, mind you) OVER A FREAKING BIRTHDAY CAKE?! REALLY?! Plus, did that crazy Karen really think she was just gonna waltz into a bakery as big and bad as she pleases and expect the people working there to just drop everything they're doing to meet demands to complete a 3-tier birthday for her 3-year-old child's birthday party at the LAST MINUTE? 🙄🤦♂😤 And as a result, she not only gets arrested and charged for assault, but she's also forced to pay for OP's ambulance ride to the ER and get rightfully banned from every single local bakery in town. If that's not a satisfying Karen takedown, I don't know what is. Also, I really hope that Karen's 3-year-old daughter doesn't turn out like her mother because we have enough Kens and Karens in the world to deal with right now.
The customer is always right in the matter of taste! I'm from Canada & yes we have to pay for our ambulance ride, but you can get reimbursed through whatever insurance you have!
Oh my GOODNESS! Story 2 made my jaw drop and then smile so much the moment I realized what they did to get the dad to leave! That was brilliant- I say that as someone who lost their father at 14 years old. I would’ve been doing the exact same approach as OP if I witnessed that! I genuinely hope that father learns his lesson after hearing that, because it is true… I wished I had more time with my dad, and you never know when life catches up to you. My dad died very unexpectedly and could’ve been avoided, and it can unfortunately happen to anyone. It’s a sad reality, but the guy probably needed that check!
i'm glad the daughter in story two wasn't entitled like her dad and realized they had little to no chance of getting a table in the time given and went to find somewhere else to eat
I remember one year I wanted a TARDIS cake for my birthday because I’d just gotten into Doctor Who. The cake I wanted needed fondant and the bakery at the store I work at doesn’t do fondant so I went to a bakery in town that does. Unfortunately they were all booked up for the rest of the year (my birthday is end of December). What did I do? I said “alright” and left. Shocking I know. Lmao Went back to my work’s bakery and they were able to do the cake with frosting instead of fondant. And I think I put in the order about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks in advance Recently though I’ve just been getting cupcakes
Story # 3: I worked with in my family business of repairing & servicing trailer able boats in the SoCal inland area for many years & basically having 3 MAIN hot months & 6 overall pleasure boating months each year, the number of times I have had to deal with people trying to ""CUT THE LINE"" caused me to formulate a method of denial/refusal based upon the CUSTOMERS WALLET making the ""NO YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE CUT IN LINE FEE"" rather than me simply saying that dreaded NO. Here is how it would most often transpire: Customer walks in & asks about time & costs for XYZ service on a ZYX boat that will be leaving for the 1 year ago reservations made, 40 foot house boat that 3 families are going to be in starting next Saturday & it takes 3 days to drive there with said boat on the trailer behind the SUV that is the one to drive that season. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN-U, WILL-U, THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN, YADA-YADA-YADA!! Sometimes they even had 2-5 lil RUGRATS there for dramatic effect. Scoping out the situation, $3500-5000 for a weeks houseboat rental, high dollar tow vehicle, high dollar vessel to be serviced, ect, ect, cost for them to rent a boat like theirs with the houseboat being approximately $1500 for the week & there was a VERY GOOD chance that they were using that cost against their part of the houseboat rental so renting at the marina would mean actually DOUBLE THEIR COST OVERALL & juxtaposing all of those lil ditties against the normal $300.00 SEASONAL SERVICE and the story goes something like this....... Well sir/ma'am, as I am already working approx 12-16 hours a day, 7 days a week & sleeping/living here, going home to see my wife every 2-3 weeks as it is, to SQUEEZE you in would have to be WAY WAY WAY more than just normal TIME & A HALF or even DOUBLE TIME OVER TIME, no to get you in & done during the next 3 days so that you can still have enough time to tow the vessel to the lake for the Saturday departure will cost you $100 to skip the line $ TRIPLE TIME/COST for the job; think around thee $1,000 range & we will gladly ""GIT'R DONE""!! The grand effect of this is if they couldn't afford it, then it was their wallet saying NO & not the shop. The shop was willing & able if you have the dollars, PERIOD. If they said that is too much, they mostly said it with a THANK YOU anyway as they left & if they said OK well then, COME ON DOWN & we will take care of that for you right now!!! They roll in & drop off the boat, you knock out the service in 1-2 hours, hand them a NORMAL $300 invoice & take the CASH that you predetermined the pay to be handled with so that they couldn't stop payment or reverse the charges on a card transaction and send them off to their great vaca in the sky, CHA-CHING, BABY!!!
4:52 I'm pretty sure the only thought that crosses their mind when they prepare to play this card is "this is just an employee, they can't do or know anything about weather or not i actually know the owner" or "the possibility that i do will put the fear of being fired into them so they'll do what i say" and then they never think again until either they get obeyed, or the worker plays an Uno reverse card on them by either being the owner, or actually knowing the owner and making it known to little mx entitled.
Story 1 end, as a big 40k fan (For the Omnissian) I would LOVE a 50% discount, some of those minis get damn expensive. Like 75+ for a single tank sometimes.
re: planning or not, One year, my wife and I were not planning a cake for her birthday. But, peer pressure from my family when we went out for lunch overcame, and there was a bakery in the same strip center. I picked up a _beautiful_ chocolate cake in a smaller size, and it was very good. IIRC, the baker wrote her name on it, on the spot, only taking a few seconds.
What exactly are the goal when someone says "I know the owner, let me talk to them so they can fire you"? In case they actually know them and actually know they'd fire you for upsetting their friend, would you really go "Sure, I want to be fired today" or "Nah! Thanx for the heads up though, I'll start looking for other work asap, you can call them yourself." And in the more likely scenario, when they don't know the owner. Nothing good will come from being busted. So, yeah.. What is their goal?
Business owners with the Hobby Store: I can relate to them! My ex and I were also hobby store owners during the same time; we were in Ontario, Canada, just a few more years in business though, could have met them at the retailers seminar in Altanta that year in '93. One of my best 'owner' stories was that a 'man' came into the store looking for the owner. I knew he was trying to sell something. I said, "Oh, yes! How can I help you?". He just stared at me; "I'm looking for the owner." "I know, and how can I help you?" He then frowned and went to two of the employees who were stocking comic books. I couldn't hear them, but could see them. They pointed towards me. Next thing I hear is, "A WOMAN!" and then he rushes out of the store. I could just guess what his background is.
Story 2: Reservations exist for a reason. If you want to make sure you can get a table, you need to make one in advance. It's not that hard.
“It’s why they’re called reservations Karen”😂 I would have just said that if I was there
Obviously, it is hard for entitled people.
“Do you have a reservation?”
“Yes, but we’re eating here anyway!”
I don’t understand the logic at 9:26. Turning away paying customers to pretend they’re busier than they are? They’d lose money to have empty tables just sitting there.
@@silverthehero1295 That’s what’s known as entitled people logic 😂
"I'm going to have you fired." I laugh every time I hear this. What makes these entitled people think they have the power to make this happen?
A mix of arrogance and entitlement
Delusion
Too often they do.
Some owners constantly side with customers, even where the evidence is clearly against the customers
THAT part!!!
A 3-tier cake for a 3 year old’s birthday. 🤦♂️
That poor kid doesn’t stand a chance.
Oh yeah, that's diabetes waiting to happen.
Yeah. It's obviously not about the kid. They're just a prop for the parents to get attention.
@@kelleyk28 Sugar doesn't cause diabetes!!!
The story is in Canada. And the devil knows what Trudeau may comes up with.
SPEAK.TRUTH!
"We at * insert business here * reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"
Their business is also private property and have every right to kick people out or deny them entry. It is not a public space.
25:27 Banned from other bakeries for throwing a tantrum in this one ...
That's loyalty among craftspersons.

@@owenbrady2899 nah. Doesnt really matter to me in any situation why someone thinks something is important because importance is relative.

@@sakura1701Wow! Wonder if you’ve got enough stories to write a small book. “Horrific Tales from Karen Land Bakery.”
I worked at a small bakery for about three months in high school. Eye roll 🙄
Owner just took the security camera footage to court.
The customer is always right... say it with me... in matters of taste!
the first story remindes me of one where the Karen was yelling at the young man behind the counter "I am the owner's wife, I'll get you fired" and the man turned around to the cook and said "Dad, when did you get remarried?" As for 2 they should have just thrown him out, it is a private buisness, they don't need a reason to have him tresspassed.
Bingo .... right there was reason enough to throw the entitled father out of the restaurant ..... sir, if you want to wait for 2.5 hours, fine, have at it, but you will not do it in here or outside anywhere on the property.
Good grief!
Story 1
Love how the hero of the story was quick on the draw and out smarted the karen 👏👏👏
Cake story.... After her nonsense I'd have refused her service, call it a "Stupid Tax"! 😡
After that scalding coffee assault, I'd tell her, "You will miss your kid's birthday, you'll be in JAIL!" 🤨
Think? If Karens were capable of rational thought, they wouldn't be Karens.
I swear I've seen you everywhere lol
That also applies to if Karens were “smart”😂
Ah yes that famous restaurant tactic of not serving customers so they can keep all their tables empty so they will appear....busy.
@@yukikitsune7366it may be the case sometimes, but obviously the manager/hostess/owners weren't lying if the tables got full in 20 minutes
Worked at a pizza parlor and over half the restaurant was reserved by sport teams at a nearby tournament. Had people who refused to believe us when we said the groups were going to be there (called to let us know, love those!)
Had another where the guy was too stupid to ask his group if they’d made a reservation, and didn’t know the organizing parent’s name… that was fun.
The 2 hr story wow. That girl handled that better than a boss kudos to her
On story 3: I LOVE that all the other bakeries banded together and collectively banned her from all the town bakeries!! LMAO. That is GOLDEN
Also DarkFluff, I love your stories, I've been lurking here for years. Thanks for narrating them for us...We love ya'll too!!
The bakery mafia is powerful!
@Kris_sy to the last bit of your comment, i said the same thing myself!
The biggest I ever seen was a 3 tier cake for a wedding. all I ever got for my birthday is a Black Forest cake love them 😋😋😋
ESPECIALLY if you want a chocolate PEANUT BUTTER cake in a certified NUT/LEGUME-FREE bakery! Some people are *so* allergic to peanuts that they can't be around someone eating *plain* M&Ms without needing an Epi-pen!
Ah, I loved the "daddy-daughter dinner" story.
Especially since I just got back from dinner with my own daughter.
Don’t you hate it when those pesky birthdays sneak up on you every year!!! 😂😂😂😂
The dad from story 2 seems to have gotten his head on straight after what the hostess said. My dad passed away a little over a year ago, and even though I'm 46, I'd give anything to have more father/daughter dinners with him.
As someone who worked retail, there is nothing I hate hearing is” the customer is always right”. Sorry Karen, in most cases, no their not.
Thanks, I didn’t know that. 😀
Whatever happened to baking your own damned cake, and having the kid help so they can boast to their friends how they made it. That's special.
Every time I hear one of these Karen’s going “I’m gonna have you fired.”I want to hear the fast food worker they’re yelling at go. “Oh no, not from my dream job no no no!”
Story 3 Customer: You should just stay late to make my cake!
Also Story 3 Customer: You’re too young and should be in school!
I get the feeling that the cake was just for the mom.
Story 1 - The guy in this story is my hero. And I also love when entitled people use the ‘I know the owner’ line and it backfires in their face.😂😂😂
Story 1: I always love the classic, "I know the owner." just to hear "I am the owner."
I love the daddy in the baking story 🥰
Story 3: Why not just ask them for suggestions on what to do when they can't take the order?? Sheesh.. They'd probably point to someplace worth giving business, even if won't be a custom cake.
Does the 'I know the owner' trick ever work? I'm guessing no but they will still try to get away with it.
I've remember one time, I heard a story about a Karen who attacked a worker by throwing hot soup into her face
I heard that too. I think she was charged with assault, had to pay a fine as well as the workers medical bills and fired from her job.

Not being able to get the materials trumps being right on a matter of taste.
She just chooses not to 🤣
Story 2 - As a Warhammer player myself, given how expensive of a hobby it's always been (and how much MORE expensive it becomes every goddamn year 😖), I almost can't blame her for trying...
...almost. Considering how often that whole "I know/am friends with/am married to the owner" rigamarole is used and fails miserably, I think she'd've had better luck just tryna smuggle 'em out in her purse like most other would-be criminals/hucksters do. 🙄
Story 3 - DAMN, that was some straight-up thermonuclear emotional warfare....
Hell if I owned a business like OP I may put out one of those signs that reads "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", which I don't often see these days, interestingly... lol I'd be VERY tempted to include "Especially Karens - does NOT refer to people simply NAMED Karen", though I doubt that'd go over well - it'd be just like that episode of South Park where all the kids start calling the loud obnoxious Harley bikers in the area "fags"
🤣
Lol alright alright I'm rambling now - if you actually stuck with me up to this point, well...
Why couldn't Karen make her own cake for her kid?????
Because she wanted on one up the other moms she doesn't care for her daughter
@@patriziamares6757 She's like young Chilli Heeler trying to one-up Wendy (Judo's mum) by having Bluey start walking before Judo. At least Chilli cared for Bluey.
Canadian ambulances are not like American ones. It's about $50 to $100, depending on the region.
Not nothing, but not $1000s either.
"I'M PRESSING CHARGES FOR ASSAULT!"
-A Karen who just got injured, directly after committing assault
Mental healthcare needs to be a bigger priority.
I knew from the title she was going to get nailed by the coffee. Rule of life number 007: If you act like a doormat, you're gonna get walked on.
If I need a last minute cake, I pick up a slab cake at Costco and add my own writing. Problem solved.
Or one from the bakery section in the grocery store…
@@organrick That would do the job if you have less than 25 people that will be wanting cake. :D
Last story. When the karen tripped over the door and landed face first on the floor. Dang, i was lmao
Story 2: Sad thing is that even if there are big signs saying, "RESERVED", Karens chooses to not notice the signs and still demands a table.
Dad/daughter dinner story: the question at the end was, "Who would've thought you could beat a Karen with emotions?"
I very much disagree with how the dad handled things in that story, but it was also obvious from the beginning that everything he was doing was out of a legitimate effort to be a good dad and do good things for his daughter.
In the add-on to story 1, I hope the wife started the conversation with her husband with "So your mistress came to the store today" lol
people who have never done a job always think it is easy and doesn't take much time...
Soooo ... customer is always right in the matter of taste, eh? THEN MAKE MY PEANUT CAKE!!!
The customer is always right! In matters of taste. That is the complete quote.
i'm glad the daughter in story two wasn't entitled like her dad and realized they had little to no chance of getting a table in the time given and went to find somewhere else to eat
Last story: Peanut Karen... Another one for the team, after Mustard Man, Milk Boy and Nugget Man.
Last story. Don't forget she said her daughter loves O.P's sweets so she was supposedly a customer. Karen's are wild.
Lmao
Went back to my work’s bakery and they were able to do the cake with frosting instead of fondant. And I think I put in the order about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks in advance
Recently though I’ve just been getting cupcakes
They roll in & drop off the boat, you knock out the service in 1-2 hours, hand them a NORMAL $300 invoice & take the CASH that you predetermined the pay to be handled with so that they couldn't stop payment or reverse the charges on a card transaction and send them off to their great vaca in the sky, CHA-CHING, BABY!!!
perfect timing, because i was just looking for a video to eat my lunch too
Defeating a raging Karen with emotions. EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!!!!!!
4:52
I'm pretty sure the only thought that crosses their mind when they prepare to play this card is "this is just an employee, they can't do or know anything about weather or not i actually know the owner" or "the possibility that i do will put the fear of being fired into them so they'll do what i say" and then they never think again until either they get obeyed, or the worker plays an Uno reverse card on them by either being the owner, or actually knowing the owner and making it known to little mx entitled.
22:43 Sorry Karen, but the customer is hardly right.
Story 1 end, as a big 40k fan (For the Omnissian) I would LOVE a 50% discount, some of those minis get damn expensive. Like 75+ for a single tank sometimes.
Was waiting for the "then everyone clapped" in story two lol. Entertaining still
Story 2: I’m gonna need to remember that line for the future 😂
re: planning or not,
One year, my wife and I were not planning a cake for her birthday.
Thanx for the heads up though, I'll start looking for other work asap, you can call them yourself."
And in the more likely scenario, when they don't know the owner.
You usually hear about that kind of sexism from customers of computer stores or mechanic shops that believe only men can solve their problems.
“You are such a wonderful person. Tell me who hurt you to make you so mad?
