It's pretty heavily implied in the last few light novels that Rimiru is the reincarnation of Veldanava that everyone has been wondering why Veldanava never came back. Especially when Rimiru absorbed Justice King Michael that only wanted one thing, to return to Veldanava. Michael's last thought after Rimiru absorbed him was that he had finally achieved his goal. Michael clearly realized that Rimiru had Veldanava's soul after being absorbed by him. Velgryd and Guy also suspect Rimiru might be the reincarnation of Veldanava. And Dino also says that he hasn't felt as happy and satisfied working for Rimiru as he felt serving Veldanava. So it's pretty clear that the author is hinting that Rimiru is Veldanava's reincarnation. And after Rimiru obtained all three dragon factors and every Angelic Ultimate Skill he said his hunger had finally been satiated for the first time.
Red is only currently stronger because Diablo go bored. Now that he is no longer bored, Red won't be the strongest Demon for long.
Diablo went Saitama and was like "why should i get even stronger?..its boring either way!" and then he had to endure guy bragging about his ultimate skill for far to long and is back for revenge xD

Guy has two names (Guy and Crimson), when a monster gains a name they become more powerful (Veldora mentioned this when naming Rimuru and receiving the name Tempest). For Diablo to match Guy, Rimuru would have to give Diablo a second name, at least so far where the Anime is at. I have no doubt that Diablo will eventually surpass Guy at some point regardless but it's not the case currently in the anime.

Before I learned about the Rudra thing, I always theorize that Veldanava reincarnated as Satoru Mikami, but because of the rules of that world he didn't reincarnate with his memories and abilities, the sad part is I think he did all this just so he can reincarnate and find his long-lost wife Lucia who sadly I think reincarnated as Shizu do I think Soul was fragmented and ended up in Hinata and Chloe.
I also think that Rimuru is the reincarnation of Veldanava.
Making himself reincarnated into another world was not difficult for Veldanava.
Remembering Veldanava's personality which was explained through other people until now.

If I remember correctly, the quality of a person's soul is very determining in Tensura.
For example, Rimuru, his soul is strong enough to survive across dimensions and is reincarnated as a slime with 2 unique skills.
And now, he even has many ultimate skills, indicating he has enormous soul quality.
Another example is Mariabell Rosso, just like Rimuru, her soul is strong enough to survive across dimensions and is reincarnated with the unique skills of the seven deadly sins series.
If she doesn't die, I'm sure she will become strong in the future (She can't really control her unique skill because her body is still young.)

Diablo is no different than your typical vampire that has existed for millennia. They are bored and strive for something different or entertaining. Rimuru is just very interesting and unique in the world. Diablo sees Rimuru as a source of entertainment for him which Red has said that he seeks entertainment.
My theory is that Rimuru is the only demon lord with the strength to not only stop the angels but subjegate them much like he did with Ifrit. The theory runs along the names given to two things, Raphael who helps him and Uriel that protects him being the names of very strong angels.
Only end of story Rimuru would be able to stop the Angel.

I think Rimuru is the reincarnated souls of Veldanava and Lucia. The world wouldn't let them be together so they combined their souls into one. Lucia was the original bearer of Raphael. Maybe Mikami was a virgin because his soul was the combined souls of a married couple.

Eeeeeh, I don't think he could, really. Between Beelzebuth's subtrait of Food Chain allowing him access to his subordinates' skills, and Raphael/Ciel's Plot Armor level of precise usage of all skills at his command, I don't think Diablo could keep up.

I don't think diablo is stronger than awaken rimuru. After summoning, it was no longer possible for diablo to hurt rimuru. he already got 3 ultimate skills at that point.
That's not much relevant, he still have ways to hurt Rimuru.
Ultimate skill is just an automatic process to reach the ultimate lvl, but some magic are also on the ultimate lvl, and even normal attacks if pushed far enough with strong will power can reach the ultimate lvl and hurt ultimate skill user.
Regardless, even anime Diablo beat Guy which was said by Guy himself in Vol11 chapter 4, cuz no matter what you do to Diablo he'll always come back like a cockroach, you can kill him, erase him, he'll just come back Infinitly till you run out of magicule.
