The call stations make the mod tasteful indeed. To the ones who say “EWWW DISGUSTING MOD, IM NEVER COMING INSIDE THIS PLACE EVER”, y’all gotta think about the fact that 20th century elevator parts from the 1920s are not possible to acquire for replacements. Sometimes there’s certain codes that buildings have to follow through with, such as replacing out of code elevators.
EXACTLY! Stuff wears out and has to be replaced sometimes! While I would obviously enjoy seeing the originals kept, there comes a time, especially for a busy building like this where they are forced to upgrade to keep reliable service. I feel that this was done TOTALLY tastefully and they preserved what they could from the original elevators. They did not want to upgrade but like you said, when they needed parts, they would have to wait months sometimes and it was becoming too expensive.
I really dig all the before and after shots. I like how you highlighted the way these vintage elevators looked before you showed the moderation's. DieselDucy you are a legend in the elevator community and this videos shows why. Always look forward to seeing more content from you.
Yes United did a very nice job with the modernization, very tasteful with the colors and selection of COP. It's very fast for an 8 floor + basement building might be a gear-less with a 2:1 roping.
At least they kept some parts original even though it sucks for them to be modded. Better than getting rid of all the original things which we don’t want to see but I’m glad that these people restore these elevators super well and they kept some parts of it
It is for the new phones. It is required for deaf people to be able to use the phone as there is a display in the elevator and questions will be asked and you click the buttons to answer them.
Beautiful job keeping these ornate elevators!
They did fantastic

@@DieselDucy true that. look how good the hotel Roanoke mod went!

Thanks! I always enjoy your content as well!
This is a fantastic mod! That being said, I wish they would've left one car manual like the old Young Quinlan Dept. Store Bldg. in Minneapolis.
They did great here
Nice elevators! Beautiful cabs!
They are!

Thanks for sharing and you are correct 2-1 roping with gearless machines
If only we had more mods this tasteful, United certainly preserved the character, and might I add, the cabs look nicer in Green!
Totally agree! I actually like the refurbished cabs better than the originals.
This is a very tasteful mod job! :)
It really is! I was happy with it
I find it interesting that you're in my hometown.
Awesome. I’ll be back.
2:27 boy someone's impatient.
LOL Totally a "Zackey" thing
I’m glad the dial is still there
Me too
I like the chrome panels
Me too. They are brass
I am happy that they left the elevator dial alone
And the crank.
Me too
@@DieselDucy epic even before the mod they were still fast
I'm glad that the Otis crank is still there
Me too. This is a great mod
Great job United.
It was awesome

This was a great mod
It sure is
The good thing is they kept the original parts!
The character of the elevator is retained
Good to see the crank still remains untouched.
It was a good mod.
Not bad, especially with the call station
It is awesome
Otis - installed in 1928
United - modernized in 2022
Yep

Yep 👍
Time for Property Brothers to step in.
Who are they?
Looks well done. Too bad the old elevators had to go. There should be more effort put to preserve the vintage elevators sometimes...
Yeah this is a tasteful mod. The character of the elevator is still preserved.
Nice video of the day.❤🎉. 2:14 .
Yes it was!
Ykw forget that I said this mod is disgusting, this is actually kinda decent
It is pretty good for what it is.
Buttons are similar to a Kone Elevator
Innovation.
what does that "yes" and "no" button do?
It is for the new phones. It is required for deaf people to be able to use the phone as there is a display in the elevator and questions will be asked and you click the buttons to answer them.
That’s cool!
