There's this theory going around that there's no MV because it's already playing in our heads while we listen to this song. The MV is our memories with our MA and PA.
They are genius when it comes to word play Tilaluha - pagtila ng luha (stopping tears) Ikako - ikaw at ako (you and i) What- sounds like watawat (flag) Mapa- Mama and Papa
Not really a sad song, the beat is actually upbeat but the message of the song is an ode to parents that's why it is so sad, I cried buckets! #SB19forBBMAs
Trivia: Prior to completing this song Pablo asked each member what they'd like say or tell their parents. Each member wrote the lyrics that completed the whole song. I was touched by Josh's part (Papa..) coz he grew up without a father, yet his lines are the words he'd like to tell his father if he was physically present. I was so crying at the start till the end of the song. This song is not just a song but it is a story. SB19's story and ours. My MaPa passed away without me seeing them, that's why this kind of tugs my heart coz of these lines..'close your eyes...rest...I'll take care of what's left.' 💙 In some aspects of our lives we have to move on without them. Thank you so much for the reaction.
MAPA, double meaning... Mapa, a combi of the shorten words for MAMA (Mom) and PAPA (Dad). It's a tribute song for parents. And MAPA,for map, parents guidance and counsels can serve as map in our lives if we listen to them.
and also I would like to add: "Lataratara" is Latin for Goodnight Take a Rest for Today I will take CARE of Every thing. Pablo is really genius working on those artistic lyrics
This hits differently for us Filipinos. Living in a third-world country our parents sacrificed a lot to give us a life. Also, we have very strong and close ties with our Family in which we usually take care of our parents when we're old and earning enough. We even live with them even when we already have our own kids just to make sure that they have comfortable life after sacrificing a lot for us.
I agree with what you said but may I make a suggestion? We should refrain from referring to our country as third world. It is not the most politically correct/accurate term. We can say, "Developing" country.
I think this song has double or more meanings. The fact that you could see it is possible this song is about your parents who isnt in this world anymore, or it could be that it is just a supporting thing from the child. This just means that no matter what you experience with your parents, you could really see that you could somehow relate to it. The song is very flexible, that is why it is really goodddd
MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) Mapa = Map (English) Our Map is our MaPa in this Life journey. Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell our parents. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advise they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Every one of us has a story to tell with regard to our Mapa. I wanna hear em. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the MaPa.
Is not losing parents but being greatful of what our parent did for us , to give back to them thank you Pablo wrote the lyric and Justin the creative artist

In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parent to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Cath and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here.
so this song is about giving back to our parents for all the sacrifices and for loving us unconditionally.. and you're right, the title is clever bcos the word "mapa" in this song is used with double meaning which is short for 'ma' and 'pa' combined together but also them 'guiding us through our path and giving us directions so we wont get lost in our way at least until we can manage to'. for filipinos, giving back to our parents is one of the reason why we want to be stable.. of course it's not compulsory for us to do so, but as a child of parents who worked so hard so they can feed us well and send us to school, we want to take care of them too as much as they took care for us.. thanks for reacting!
Honestly, in all MAPA reaction vid. so far, yours was my favorite. You pinned point something that was actually the concept of the song; stepping up of a child to carry the burden of his/her parents and the one you said of losing the parents. Either can be the interpretation of the song depends ofcourse of one's situation. For many, it hits different especially here in Philippines coz' we are more family-oriented, so hearing this song makes us teary-eyed. It actually doesn't need a MV coz' your memory itself will play unconsciously a flashback of memories that would definitely suit for the this song. 💙
You're right, it's about letting their parents rest because they've already done enough for them and it's their time to take care of the parents. The lataratara part is like a lullaby (kind of between a song and a hum) when parents put their babies to sleep in their arms. Mapa also means map in this song. The parents are their map so no matter where they go, they know where they came from. They can always come back to them. They also mentioned mother is the MAta (eyes) and the father is the PAa (feet).
Growing as a child in the Philippines we all experience somewhat in our life a parent working overseas coming back home once after 1-3 years. Making it hard for us to adjust when they come back for good because they think you're still young. Raise your hands if you had the same childhood.
That makes their songs unique u got to wrecked your brain, they always leave open meaning on the lyrics u got to define it your owned and dig deeper. They love metaphor.. so every time you listened to their song .. they leave you thinking WHAT?
Its an ode to their parents. it implies that our parents serve as our guidance & direction in life/ we released this song to show gratitude & appreciation for helping us survive all the challenges and difficulties that we've encountered growing up---- PABLO. also part of the message of this song is that no matter how far they've gone, they will always return to their roots where everything begun
Mat, it's about both. Some of the members lost their parents and some are taking care of them now. The map you talk about is the map of life their parents left them to go through life with. Great reaction video.
Sorry, have to disagree! 💙 Except for Josh who never knew his dad and Ken who grew up with his grandparents (and lost his grandmother while they were recording this), they all have their parents intact. Ken’s parents live in another country and he only met them once in his entire life. Pablo’s dad works abroad too and can’t come home because of the pandemic. These three not having their dads around and singing for them is for me the most touching part of the entire song. And I’m not discounting Jan’s and Stell’s love for their moms either. 💙💙💙
The song is about giving back in return to our parents and steping up to become a provider for them for all their selfless love and sacrifices they had given to us. MAPA is map in English, and shortcut term for Mama and Papa, they are also serve as map to guide us into the right path for us to be able to achieve our dreams.
Many things. Treasure our elders. Still with us. We can still see, talk , hear and visit. If we still have chances to do. my father died. Up to now . I can't move on . 100 % .
MaPa = Ma and Pa Mapa is also the tagalog word for Map. Our parents are like maps that will guide us so we don't get lost. The song is about appreciation for parents and also telling them to just rest and not worry. 💙
For anyone who doesn't know. The mapa stands for a lot of things in the song. Mapa for map which is the literal meaning of the word Mapa for ma(mom) pa(dad) And the words that describe mom and and dad which are MAta(eyes) and PAa(feet) The song basically portrays being thankful to parents and how all their sacrifices guides us children to go through the map of life
For me this is not an ode, but a reminder of my parents' love to me and my love to them!! This song teach us how to be grateful and filial children!! We are busy growing up but forget that they are growing old!! We must always show how much we love them not because we are oblige to but because we simply love them!! 💙💙💙 I really thank SB19 for creating this masterpiece!!
Some also thought that it might be for someone who lose their mom and/or dad, one reason is "Latarata" also means goodbye or signing off. The other reason is the part where Ken sang the low solemn line after the bridge before the end chorus, he was like talking directly to his grandma who stood as his parent who unfortunately, just passed away recently. he was like saying "it's ok, you don't need to worry, you raised us(him and his sister) well, you can rest in peace now". Though the song according to the lyrics, is basically about a son/daughter saying to his/her parents that they can rest now, coz he/she is ready to take over, it's his/her turn now to support them. But yeah it can be both.
MAP symbolized parents who always guided their children.the sun,the eyes the moon the clock has so many deep meanings and in my opinion all af this evolve to us children since we we're born till we grown up,our parents is always there for us to guide us,give their time, they our light that shines, always watches us..
Yes Mapa means MAP it's a word play we also use Ma to call our mothers and Pa for our fathers (informally). The song is basically telling how our parents act as our Map in this world we just take a look at map when we're lost.
the Song is about appreciating everyone not just parents, but those standing up as one like your siblings, relatives or someone who adopted you in their families.
The "close your eyes and rest" kind of throws off a lot of foreigners. It's not about the parents passing. In the Philippines we do take care of our elders when we grow up. It is very different from western countries where parent usually save up for retirement. This song depicts a child paying back their parents for making sacrifices and going through life to raise them regardless of how difficult it is. Now it's time for the child to give them a life they deserve. It's an appreciation song to both parents. Very heartfelt.
SB19 is incredibly making amazing music that will lead you to analyze and think about the song and most especially to realize and what life brings you. aside frm the MAPA short term for Mama and Papa as what Pablo said, parents also like a MAP that will guide and lead their child to best way that life have:)
thanks for reacting! this song's a love letter to parents/those who are acting parents for some according to Pablo. thats why it started with 'Mom, how are you?' the latara.. thing kind of a hymn- i feels like its a lullaby to our parents, we sing it to them instead of us, like giving back. reason i think it doesnt have a video and just graphics is because they want the lyrics for you to create your own video memory of your parents/loved ones.. it's a tribute for them. hope i make sense ☺️
We Filipinos are known for our strong family bond where we live with our family from the day we was born and most of the time, until the day we die. Most of us don't move to our own place after reaching a certain age. This song is about, how parents should rest after raising their children because it's now the time for us to give them all the best just like what they did when we're still young. They've guided us and walked with us in our every battles and triumphs and now, it's payback time. That's how Filipino kids are.
actually TARA means LET's GO so LATARATARA, they persuading everyone to take turns from our parents, let their parents have a rest cause they can rely on their children.
The interpretation depends on you. We have different relationships with our parents. The interpretation depends on how the song hit you. Some thought it was about taking over the responsibilities of your parents, some thought it was about letting go of their parents who passed away, for some these are words they've been wanting to say but can't for some reasons.
MAPA is a Tagalog term for MAP, and the word MaPa is a short term for Mama (Ma) and Papa (Pa). Therefore, MaPa, our parents, is like a MAP (map), they give us direction and they serve as our guide wherever we go. And as Pablo said, we will not be lost, because we have MaPa (parents as our map). Wherever we go, we can still go back to where we came from.
The composer of the song, Pablo, is very witty. Such a genius! The title MAPA has 2 meanings. Mapa means map. MaPa is also short for Mama and Papa. Our parents are our map. Their advices and teachings are our guide as we go on with our journey in this world. 💕 SB19 for the win! Vote for them as a Top Social Artist in this year's Billboard Music Awards. Pls. check out Billboard's official website for more details on how to vote for them. You can also vote them on Twitter. ❤
The lyrics is about kids who are away from their family or parents who are far away. It is normal for a filipino family to have relatives who are working abroad to provide for their families. One of our popular celebrities forced his mom to come back to the Philippines when he got popular and had money because he wanted his mom to rest. Josh' mother is an OFW I think. This is why in the lyrics they wrote about wanting their parents to rest and let them take care of everything. This can also be a person who chose to work abroad to provide for their parents. however you interpret it hits close to home for us filipinos who supplies manpower to many countries as domestic helper, healthcare professionals, engineers and much more. One thing is for sure though, it is for a parent who is growing old and being asked by the son/daughter to retire and enjoy life and old age.
i guess the songs that they will be releasing this year have clues within their songs... if you remember tgeir What? mv it ended with the map... when the the Atins were asking for clues I think it was Justin who gave a hint that the clue to this songMaPa is in the What mv
There's this theory going around that there's no MV because it's already playing in our heads while we listen to this song. The MV is our memories with our MA and PA.

Ma,Pa can actually represented by one person.
Mama can be a Papa too and vise versa. Especially sa mga single mom and single dad out there.
@@anderskennedy2388 True. It could be your elder brother/sister, relatives, godparents or not blood related people who stood as your MaPa. 🥺

Thanks for this reaction! Hope you can catch the live of this on Tuesday.
the Song is about appreciating everyone not just parents, but those standing up as one like your siblings, relatives or someone who adopted you in their families.
We watched movies together. Coffee breaks together. Thought me humbleness . how to be thankful to God everyday in my life.
The song is about giving honor and thanks to the parents.
Thank you for reacting to SB19 new single 🥰
When Parents hymms "Lataralataratara" while you're a toddler cuddling to sleep. Aww how sweet :3
#SB19 👆
Thank God. Our mother still with us. I can feel emptiness in her. We are trying to cheer her up. Father just died last year .
Meaning of the song:
MAPA
Mama= mother
Papa= father
Put together
MAPA (map)= our parents is our map or guide
thanks for reacting! this song's a love letter to parents/those who are acting parents for some according to Pablo. thats why it started with 'Mom, how are you?' the latara.. thing kind of a hymn- i feels like its a lullaby to our parents, we sing it to them instead of us, like giving back. reason i think it doesnt have a video and just graphics is because they want the lyrics for you to create your own video memory of your parents/loved ones.. it's a tribute for them. hope i make sense ☺️
😭😭😭😭THE MOST EMOTIONAL #SB19 SONG
True

You're so cute Mattias 💙
thank you for reactiing their new song. Stay safe ❤
Ay oo nga di ko naisip yon yong tara tara parang halikana or halika halika na😊 brilliant ni darling ko Pablo and with the help of other members too
@@vivzskye661 LATARA TARA LATARA TARA is like a Lullaby mother sing to us when were sleeping. Listen to the intro you'll figure it out.
You really point it out... Its also how they have connected with they're MAPA or the person who rear till they grow up.
yes I miss my mom too 😢 💙💙💙❤
The interpretation depends on you. We have different relationships with our parents. The interpretation depends on how the song hit you. Some thought it was about taking over the responsibilities of your parents, some thought it was about letting go of their parents who passed away, for some these are words they've been wanting to say but can't for some reasons.
You should react with your parents sir. Love from 🇵🇭🇵🇭

Thank you, we appreciate this video 😇
Waitttt, this is my first time to come across your yt channel and can i just say that YOUR NAME is so unique. Mathias, ohhhshiiiii
Thank you 😊❤️🇵🇭
Mapa is dedicated to ur mother and father thanks for reacting mapa😭😭
Imagine josh singing his parts that he growing up without knowing his real father.😭
rinig ko tlga ang sakit sa boses ni Josh..
Thank you
The composer of the song, Pablo, is very witty. Such a genius! The title MAPA has 2 meanings. Mapa means map. MaPa is also short for Mama and Papa. Our parents are our map. Their advices and teachings are our guide as we go on with our journey in this world. 💕
SB19 for the win! Vote for them as a Top Social Artist in this year's Billboard Music Awards. Pls. check out Billboard's official website for more details on how to vote for them. You can also vote them on Twitter. ❤
Actually 3. Also the song mentioned Ma - Mata for Mama. Pa - Paa for Papa. Very witty.
That sigh😔
It is hurt so much for the family oriented.
Galing naman
Its a tribute to our parents
I'm the 1,000th like💙
i guess the songs that they will be releasing this year have clues within their songs... if you remember tgeir What? mv it ended with the map... when the the Atins were asking for clues I think it was Justin who gave a hint that the clue to this songMaPa is in the What mv
Omg you’re right. There was the map!
❤️
Lataratala means goodbye
