The thing I don't understand is if Melvin was selling drugs because he needed money, why didn't he become a personal trainer when he retired?! He competed in the Olympia several times. With his name he could have been able to get clients pretty easily. Also, he could have become a coach. Could have coached bodybuilders, bikini, figure, etc. A whole lot of competitors have become coaches that are were not nearly as successful in competition as Melvin was. He could have made a lot of money coaching online. I don't get this.
David Jerome some people make silly mistakes. Also success on stage doesn't make them a good coach. The top coaches now were not great bodybuilders. Not saying he couldn't have been a good coach but that's the way it seems to be.

When in need of money and a certain amount , personal trainer is going to be enough to get someone out of trouble or whatever reason to do something illegal.its obvious he had connections to get what he needed to get ahead.its sad because he was a great bodybuilder and could have been a huge success had he not been stupid with his choices.wish him luck and hope the future has a better plan waiting for him

As someone who respects the truth, I respect Shawn and I actively seek his opinion on what is happening in the sport because the man knows what he’s talking about. I had the pleasure of talking to him at the FIBO some years ago and he was as confident then as he is now. He had one of the best physiques in the world and he knew it. Nothing wrong with that. Shawn, keep telling it like it is and be reminded that many of us value your insight and straightforwardness.

I hung around Melvin for 2 years. Light hearted guy. Likes to joke around. Funny. Was about helping people. Someone who has your back and loyal friend. He's no criminal and mistske he made was totally out of character. He's a good dude. Good heart and personality.

Shawn said that he and Melvin were friends. So what kind of friend puts out his called friend's business like that. Keep it in the family. Give him support, but don't use his problems to get your rating up. Comments I get it ,but you can report what the news put out, but don't join the news mob. Just say " Hey I hope Melvin gets through his problems and I am there for you. That's if you were ever really his friend? I did just listen Melvin on Dave"s show. Melvin seems like a great guy. Sometimes making judgements and giving 'advice' about surface level situations deminishes the affect of pretending to be an online psychologist. Knowing he had a rough upbringing is basis for 'propa' advice on his personal difficulties. PTSD and CPTSD from childhood abuse is something Troy would be familar with if he is a professional in his field.
and if he's sentenced to 10, he's not serving 10. there's something called parole, which shawn is well aware of. melvins 10 could be 35-55% because of prior convictions. which means 3.5-5.5yrs before parole.

I remember being at Fritz that's 2 in Anaheim and Melvin was with Jon Brown. Melvin was dating one of the strippersI was told. My friend was there with Tevita Aholeliei the Tongan bodybuilder. Melvin was walking by and bumped into my friend almost belligerently knocking his beer everywhere making a scene. Next thing I see is Melvin getting angry at my friend who is a small dude. It was way out, but when Melvin saw Tevita he instantly began apologizing and offered to buy Tevita and my friend both drinks but it seemed he had no money on him. So he was nervously asking Jon Brown for money. Very bizarre moment
Well you tried to help him he just didn't take advantage of it the way it sounds..You only have to fuck up once to ruin your life and your family's life to. Besides, you shouldn't get that much time for a non-violent crime.

Looks like it wasn't a "fail". They reported he got two 10 year sentences and he must do 10 years in prison, dude was out in less than 3. Too many false rumours going around, shame on Shawn for painting Melvin in a horrible light thinking that he can get away with it since he thought Melvin was coming out in 2027, dude came out early 2020.
