Awesome work. Lots of people may disagree with straight cuts but that’s how big trucks are shortened and lengthened so that to me is the only way to go.

Nice work Aaron, I saw that old school soap stone.I like to take a center punch and mark your lines and grind up to the center punch .
That’s not a bad idea
Thanks for watching!
Nice work and it will turn out nice. Great information in the shortening process!!!
Thank you
Thanks for watching
You are braver than I am doing a straight cut and not cutting the section out in a step or at the least an angle. But the only wrong way is not having the nerve to try something.
I’ve cut at least 20 of them this way and never had a problem. Thank you for watching
Thanx for watching!

My dad and I use to use oven cleaner on our motors. He live about about 15 minutes for town we would spray it on before went to town and just let work

Thank you. Welcome to the channel

I got a neighbor that does the frames on vehicles I noticed he will spray it with oven cleaner and degreaser and then wrap it with black plastic are lay it over the top out in the sun I never thought about it and asked him why and he said it heats up really fast really hot because the black plastic will draw heat and it sucks the oven cleaner and stuff into all of the grease and corrosion and makes it easier to come off
Makes sense. Thanks for the tip
Awesome!
Thanks for watching!
Good Work !!!!
Thank you
I agree!
Thanks for watching!
you are the man

Thanks for watching
I like the gussets. I want to go the other way around, I want to extend my 86' Cab/Chassis 2 door flatbed for a crew cab.
That could be cool.

It’s a little rough around the edges but it’s a cool truck
Gotta love Kermit! Thanks for watching!
We watched on my RUclips too!
Great job!!
Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Looks good to me! I want to z a frame for a rat rod one day. I’ve got a 51 short bed frame that would be fun to do something with.
Sounds like fun
I agree! Thanks for watching!
I do like a short box better than a long box
Yes sir
Thanks for watching!
I dont understand the craze for shortbeds, the long beds look so much better.
Everyone has their own opinion of what they like better.
Thanx for watching!
I think short beds are too short and long beds are too long. I'd like to see someone do a mid length bed.
That would be interesting
👍
Another good video. You got a lot of work done. I'm looking forward to seeing how you're gonna mount the rear gas tank on Shorty. Will it be a K5/burb tank?
Thank you. Yes I think it’s going to be a blazer tank.
Thanks for watching
👍
Thank you
👍
A tribute truck
Yes
👍
Win
👍
👍
Any word on the yellow wrecker yet. I hope you get it are you going to do any thing on pennywise
The wrecker is my buddies, not sure what he wants to do yet. I have a lot of plans for pennywise, just need time and money
Thanks for watching
I wish I could find a set of 1979 doors that's I like looking for a needle in a hey stack
They are all pretty much the same 77-80.
@@HarmonGarage yeah I know just can't find any good ones
They are getting harder to come by
Thanks for watching!
U know where I can a good fuel cross over a 2006 6.0
No
Curious do you have the measurements and procedure to take a long bed 79 c10 and shorten it also with shortening the bed as well ?
I don’t have any videos of shortening a bed. I usually just get a shortbed and put them on
Thanks for watching!
Shouldn’t straight cut it , weld shops cutting truck chassis angle cut or step cut , stronger
Thanks for your opinion. Thanks for watching
Thanks for watching!
Just curious what you did about shortening the emergency cable. Thats the only part i have to do
I usually just buy an ebrake cable for a shortbed. But I have also used cable clamps to shorten them. The cable clamps work fine
Thanks for watching
Seems like you have done so many of these that you can do this with your eyes closed.
I’ve done a few
Thanks for watching
Goood job I have a 1981 3+3 crew cab dually would your measurements be the same to short bed my crew cab
Yes. They are the same
If you look back thru my videos I shortened a crew cab 2 years ago on here
Got it thanks keep up the good work
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Tribute. Bo.
Yes
👍
Maybe I missed it but did you take any off the back? I’m shortening a 75 using the brothers kit and it say I need to remove the rivets and cut 6 inches of frame in the rear?
Yes. I didn’t take it off in this video but I did in another video after this one. I’ve never cut off 6, it’s usually 4.5-5
Ok thanks, that’s a big help for me because I’m hoping I can just cut all the up to where that crossmember sits and hopefully my stepside bed will still go on.
I usually set the bed on and see where I need to cut it before I cut it
What kind of blades do you use on your sawsall
They are Milwaukee brand. I also use the smaller Lenox blades which work really well
Thanks for watching
I just recently bought a squarebody that was shorten but for some reason were the back of the frame has 2 pieces of square tubing for the bed to sit on. The guy told me that it was so that the body line would be straight. Is this correct?
No, it doesn’t sound right to me.
@@HarmonGarage what would come to mind? It is a 78 "sierra classic 15" originally came with a 454
Something had to have been done wrong. You shouldn’t need any spacers for the body lines to line up
@@HarmonGarage yes definitely. But kind of sitting here scratching my head
Without being able to look at it I don’t really know. First thing I would do is crawl under it and look at where it was shortened
Aaron,, what state will shorty be heading to?
Texas
Thanks for watching
I want a t shirt please.
👍
👍
aron that has to be shorty #2 mines is shorty just kidding
I’m sure there’s lots of them out there
Thanks for watching!
Too much talking
Thanks for watching
Thanx for watching!
1 set truck on stands LEVEL, 2 if it was LEVEL during the cut it should be after the cut....Dont adjust by letting air out of tires WRONG! 3rd cab has 1/4" to 1/2" of adjustment so don't measure off of the cab. There are points from factory to measure from on the frame rails. The fish plate you have is too thick and not necessary to plate the frame, you need material that is comparable to the frame thickness. I hope you have at least a million $ worth of liability insurance doing this kind of work.
Thanks for your opinion.
There’s always at least one!
LMAO!
Yup
