    Just wanted to give you an update. I've had my 2022 bike now for about 3 weeks and I'm not as put off by the dash design as I had been before seeing it in person. In all honesty it works well and gives me all the info I could need, even if it seems a bit cluttered. The only real, big complaint I have with the dash is the lack of brightness. During daylight hours I can't see the time and other smaller details on the dash. If I cover it with my hand/glove and squint I can make things out, but that is not safe when travelling at speed.

      I like the dash a lot personally. The brightness sucks yes and I haven't looked for a matte cover for it yet. I did install a puig sport windscreen. That might block some of the glare. I don't know yet because it has been cloudy and raining. I will find out today.

    Thanks for your quick review of the GSX-S1000.I'm interested in the weight of the bike and how it carries it. I'm currently riding a 2018 MT09, it has a curb weight of only194 kg. Its light to ride and easy to manouver around especially in the garage and carparks. I took a short test ride on the superseded GSX-S1000. It has a curb weight of 214 kg roughly10 kg more than my MT 09 plus the Suzuki seems to carry that weight a lot higher in the frame. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers

    • @Carlshandlebarsandholidays
      @Carlshandlebarsandholidays  Год назад +1

      Hi and thanks for you question, it's actually a tricky one to answer though, I can't say as I noticed much difference in weight respect than my MT09SP, it probably is slightly more "top heavy" but that's hard for me because my other bike and most previous other bikes have been MUCH heavier, so I found the GSX super light, and didn't really consider it any different than my MT. It's a really good, super easy to ride and surprisingly comfortable bike that I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with and value for money wise it's a winner too.
      Not sure if that's much help, but it was several months ago that I rode it, so I'm sorry that's the best I can do just now. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    Nice review, thanks. Love to hear from Australia. The bike looks amazing in black. These bikes are being discounted regularly over here in NZ. I have a GSX 8S, but am tempted to trade up to the bigger bike. There is nothing wrong with the torquey 776 and it is all you really need on our rubbish roads. But need was never the determinant. Do you have any comments?

    • @handlebarsandholidays
      @handlebarsandholidays 9 месяцев назад

      Hi Paul, yes, the 1000cc was a really nice bike. I think I mentioned in the review, (which was a while ago now), that it was a chunk more comfortable than the MTO9SP I had at the time.
      As for trading up, I don’t think you would be disappointed for a second and yes we don’t really need that extra power, but once you get used to it, it’s a lovely thing to have.
      Things have very much moved on for me now, as I spend most of my time on a 1250GSA and I think it’s fair to say my time on that type of ‘sporty’ bike are probably in the past.

      Oh that's a really tricky one Thomas, I haven't actually ridden the Z900RS, however all indications are that that's a really nice bike. But I would put them in slightly different categories, so I guess that very much depends on what you want to do with it. In my mind I'd maybe think that the Kawasaki is more suited to a slightly older guy, where the Suzuki someone a bit younger, don't know if that's the right way to look at it really though.
      A friend of mine had the Kawasaki and ended up only keeping it for about 12 months, he said it was a fantastic bike that he really couldn't fault, however he did for some reason find it a little bit boring somehow, he said it was just laking the little "spark" that makes something special.

      You get more bike with the Suzuki, hands down. It has way more power, more tech, better comfort. With that being said, the z900rs is the kind of bike where you pay for the aesthetics. And it is a fantastic bike. If you prefer the look of the Kawa, I would say go for that. It has more than enough power for the road. If you like a more modern look, or looks are 50/50... I think the Suzuki offers considerably better value than the Yamaha and even has a few advantages over the Yam.
      All I can say really is, ride both. Personally I'm always looking for that "special something" that makes that bit of difference that usually you can't quite put your finger on, but it pushes you one way or the other. The other thing I'd consider is the money saved if you went for the Suz, gives you a bit of "play room" when it comes to a few aftermarket bits and making it your own.

    A bit disappointing. Telling me the rear shock is adjustable is a cop out. Preload? Compression dampening? Rebound dampening? Travel length? No negatives? You mailed i this one in.

      Hi Terrell, sorry to hear you were a bit disappointed, to be honest as I've mentioned a few times in my videos, my aim is to provide an insight into what the bikes I review are like "to ride", it's basically an average riders view of how the bikes make you feel. Google is there for everyone and will supply facts and figures all day long and from a review point of view, I always feel that's all a bit boring to listen to, hence I tend to blast through it, (hopefully it's not put you off watching my vids).
      As for no negatives ... well, I couldn't really find any, the front light cluster wasn't really my cup of tea, but other than that, the only negative would have to be that I don't currently own one .... LOL
      Thanks for watching though
      👍👍👍
