✨ ABOUT
Hi I'm Mel, and I'm a Toronto-based wedding filmmaker, freelance videographer, and lifestyle content creator. My passion for media and storytelling began with creating MapleStory animations on RUclips in 2008. Since then, I've graduated with my BA in Media Production (major in Television and Video), and am currently working on building my own personal brand. During my spare time, I enjoy working on my travel & lifestyle blog (melstory.ca), streaming on Twitch, and drinking bubble tea. Follow along as I navigate my way through life as a creative!
Hi youtube fam 🥺❤ hope you're all doing welll! I've been having anxiety attacks recently sighHHH. even though I got the "breathe" tattoo as a reminder for myself to not be so worried about the future, I still feel like there are so many unanswered questions and the fear of the unknown/doubting myself/my worth & everything in between has made me spiral. I don't even know if making these vlogs are seriously the best way to spend my time cuz I pour hours into editing (treating content creation basically like my part-time/full-time job atm), but it's not like these vids are really helping me out financially. I really do enjoy making these videos cuz they give me a purpose to create/feel less alone as well when I share with you guys what I'm going through, and selfishly it's also a way for me to document my own journey/growth.
I lowkey spiraled into wondering if I should just get a 9-5 job again.. (sometimes this happens when I feel incredibly lost). It would feel like I'm just giving up on myself.. but at the same time, sometimes I'm just in desperate need of structure and direction. & when I seriously think about future financial goals, etc. I know it's not realistic to keep on paying such high rent prices (going into nothing) and it's hard to save as well.
I know everything in life is like a trade-off and you can't have everything. Need to make sacrifices to hit certain goals, but idk I just wonder if I'm spending my time and energy into the right places...
Anyways, thanks for listening and being here guys 😭 these vlogs are like a visual diary and the comments section is like a journal for me.. anyways, love and appreciate you guys and i'll see you in the next one :') ... (if I don't randomly decide to disappear lol)
I'm not your mom but being financially stable is always helpful. As long as u don't worry about financial distress, then continue with your passion project. But I don't think not earning enough and not working on changing it is beneficial long term. But I'm also in my 20s so don't listen to me lol
You could compromise tho. Continue with making vids and have a good steady income stream. But that could mean lower quality vids but that's ok imo . Again just my opinion
@@ewikgeiwgwe8971 yeah.. I've thought about maybe just not adding as much music into my vlogs since that part is one of the most time-consuming tbh >
@@MelindaTseFilms ya people come to watch u . We don't come for the background music. Also good luck with life! My day is good hah thanks.
@@ewikgeiwgwe8971 LOL i guess so haha, thanks for being here!! my workaholic and perfectionist side takes over sometimes & i have such a hard time pushing out something that i feel i didn't work my VERY best on and proud of 😵 and music helps to set the mood too/elevates the watching experience, sighh haha. i need to learn to be ok with just pushing out things that are good enough 😅 done is better than perfect >__
Family time is the best time 🥹❤
🥰❤️❤️
I watched that video you made last year and I thought it was amazing. It's inspirational. Hope you feel better soon.
🥺❤️🙏🏻 thanks so much, Ryan! Hope you have a wonderful day ahead 😊🌤️
@@MelindaTseFilms how about you make dalgona coffee and spicy nuggets and Korean ramen noodles cheese sauce asmr video
So much content lately 😍😍
🥺❤️❤️ thanks for watching, bernita!! trying to push stuff out faster hahah 🙈 appreciate you!!
breathe 🤍 - love ya buddy!
thanks daniel! 🥺🤍
Great to see you're learning how to play piano again! River Flows in you is a classic. Also thining of River Flows in you reminds me of Wedding Dress
ooh yeah wedding dress is a really good song too!! soo many beautiful pieces to play on piano :') now i just need to practice more and get better XD i'm still lacking a lot of basic fundamentals like posture haha 😅 hope i'll continue sticking through with it though and not give up on myself 🙈 do you play piano as well?
@@MelindaTseFilms Ya don't give up! thats the spirit :3 even learning a line a day is good process. There's actually so many beautiful pieces to play on piano I should start practicing some again T_T. I do play piano! but the one thing that I wish I could obtain is playing music by ear. I can't listen to music then play it without the sheet music, too hard.
@@TangTang08 thank youuu. yeah I should go practice my scales now that we're talking about it XDD ohh, practice with me!! haha we can encourage each other to play!! i've always wondered how people play by ear.. such a crazy talent, but i'm sure they put hours into practicing and listening to obtain that skill ^__^"
@@MelindaTseFilms Ya I will! How many scales do you know??? major minors? :O
@@TangTang08 I’m just refreshing all the majors atm! Haven’t stepped back into minors yet 😆 I barely rmb any of that hahah
now i patiently wait till Melinda is able to play all the songs from the yiruma piano book i got you =3
🤣 you’ll be waiting a long time
@@MelindaTseFilms it'll be worth the wait in the end
Keep making videos if it helps you stay productive, but it's important to establish a baseline for the other important aspects your life, i.e. finance, social, physical. It's ok to get a 9-5 job and work on videos during your spare time. Keep doing the boxing thing, or pick up badminton again. I think if you're financially stable, physically and mentally stimulated, and your social needs are met, you'll be in a happy place. No need to chase for perfect, but cover your bases.
Anyways nice video. I'm not one to get sentimental but I can feel the emotions through your videos. Keep it up.
Hi Seija! Thank you for the advice 🥺🙏🏻 Yeah I was briefly looking at 9-5 jobs again yesterday, but nothing that seriously interests me 🙉 I was also like hm should I continue my education and get a masters? I’m a little bored and want to challenge myself to learn more too, but also don’t know if it would be good to pay to learn more vs. just finding a job to get paid and learn through experience / or just spend time to work on my own brand or content. Although I feel quite directionless at times since I’m terrible at actually monetizing or making this a sustainable career 😆 so has to be realistic too.
I’m going Muay Thai with my sister again today 😊 you’re right, I just need to find that balance and cover my bases like you said. Happiness is the absence of wanting anything anymore and just being content in the moment.
🥺🤗 thanks for the support, Seija!! really appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment. Have an awesome day! 🌤️
Did your one sister move to Toronto? If my memory is correct I remember you visiting her in Singapore and doing muay thai 👊🏽
Yeah she’s back home with us now 😊 Been nice to reconnect and have everyone together again! I did Muay Thai with her this afternoon actually haha 😆👊🏻
@@MelindaTseFilms Oh nice!! Glad to hear it! Having all of your family in one place is a blessing 😀🙏🏽👍🏽
What are u healing from
trauma, anxiety, life 🤪
Oh sorry to hear. I've got anxiety too and I'm a living being ✅✅ tbh I think modern lifestyle (ahem social media) makes anxiety worse lol. Constant browsing etc isn't helpful. I'm trying to cut down on it
@@ewikgeiwgwe8971 yeaah I honestly feel so tired scrolling and don't really bother with staying in the loop with trends, etc for content creation too. this is why i'm always so slow at "growing" cuz I just do everything at my own pace LOL. mental health first though :') hope cutting down on socials has made you feel more at peace :'D 🍃
