Bought a 2021 elite...the dealer told me that it is common for the gas gauge to go bad. He said you just have to take the bobber out and let it dry out and your problem with that should be fixed. If you even ever come back to see this, lol
if they wont warranty a seat that is one month old I dont think i would want one if something more serious occurs...i thought about buying one too but now im starting to lean towards a Hustler
It's crazy that I never thought about seeing if the seat was under warranty. Sometimes my little brain doesn't work so good. I like my mower but I've also heard good things about the Hustler. I think these days most brands are stepping up their games. Thanks for watching.
I bought mine April was a tear ago , and so far it had been a damn great mower. I love mine. All I have ever done was to put a deck belt on it. Oh it was a 2019 hold over
God bless you buddy, I have owned that same machine for about 3years, and I don't have any of those problems. It's a wonderful piece of equipment. I absolutely love it! However I do have the manual adjusted mower deck, But other than that I have the exact same machine.
I absolutely beat the hell out of that thing. The issues it's had aren't even from me being ruff with it. The issues are just from little things that they need to do a better job on. But she has been a little workhorse for me so I can't complain. Thanks for watching.
@@MrRose-nr3ez well that is certainly a stumper. For some reason the blade speed is not fast enough to keep up with the forward speed of the mower. So, you either have to slow forward speed of the mower or speed up the tip speed of the blades. Are you running the engine at full throttle when cutting grass?

When I got done representing the company Bad Boy Mower would rule the world... or rule a couple of states over from Arkansas, which ever comes first. Anyway, you get to work on that C.E.O position and lets make this happen.
Always get your brake in service. Your supposed to get it after the first 4 hours. Also they have steering damper systems which can be easily adjusted. Also oil for the hydraulics will help you with your steering controls. Also if you don't want your components to get old and rusty put a cover on your mower. This is a big investment and should be treated as such, if you want it to last. Also you had a 2 year warranty to address any of those issues. Great video, very entertaining.
Phillip I have the first oil change video dropping soon. Keep an eye out for it. It should be very interesting to see what comes out of that motor after 5 years.

Like I said in my video, not everyone has 6ft of storage space to dedicate to a mower. When I get done mowing I cover mine with a tarp whether it's going to rain or not. Don't want the morning dew to get on it. Lol
My neighbor bought one of these a few years ago and his seat did the same thing. He went to buy a new one and they were going to charge him over 300 dollars. He ended up redoing it himself for around 10 dollars.
I've been looking at the same mower I have a question if you was to have to get another one would you get the same one and how does it do about going up and down Hills
I've bought some additional property that's attached to my property since I purchased that mower a few years ago. Which means I would probably buy a bigger one if I ever had to. It does awesome going up and down but like most not so good sideways. I live on a mountain with vary little flat terrain so I am constantly mowing at a grade. Hope this helps.

we just bought a Bad Boy Maverick 54" with Kawasaki 726cc. Mowed are 2 to 2.5 acres lawn twice and it cuts great. It sure is loud when turned on full throttle, but it will cut thick field grass well. The yard grass i turn the throttle down to about half throttle and its not so loud and still cuts great. Very happy with the cut quality(stripes) and power. The controls are easy to use with adjustable arms for us bigger guys. I really think the engineers at bad boy thought of the Bigger Guys when making the Maverick.
I've heard good things about the Maverick. The motors on these things are definitely loud. They produce a lot of power. Hope she lasts a long long time for you.
I was at one time in talks with them about sponsoring videos. After they saw this video they ghosted me. I guess they weren't happy about some of the things I said. I wasn't worried about it though. I haven't lost any sleep over it.
And you know they don't have a yard to mow. But they don't care. They'll still come steal your damn mower at 3 O'clock in the morning and drive it down the road.
I have the 2020 zt elite and I hate that the bearings go out alot on my wheels and idler pulley once. My seat went limp in the first year like you said. But THANK you for the cleaning the contacts info. Mine just clicks alot I just keep working it until it cranks. I will clean them contacts in the morning!
I just bought a 2014 ZT Elite Badboy 747cc and had to replace the hydraulic tanks and of course the starter as well but the hour meter said 141 hours on it so i didnt think it was a bad deal for 600 plus the 200 dollar starter and 30 dollar tanks, it does also need a new seat and the arm rest are totally shot, but as far as cutting and driving and running??? There is no comparison, i just sold my 1 year old Spartan mower cause this old BadBoy is just a pure beast! Absolutely love it, id love to eventually get a diesel version but idk if i wanna shell out the $22,000 for that lol anyways, great review! Stay safe!
I just got a 2022 Bad Boy ZT Avenger, which is the model below the Elite I think, and that thing is awesome. I've had it for a month and I know why it's called 'Bad Boy' now. I will say that it looks like they improved the seats in the latest models. Mine has an all-plastic back and it seems pretty strong. Great review of the Elite, just confirms further that I made the right choice. Cheers brother

Holy crap! I have that exact mower! I mean, I'm looking for scratches similar to mine to make sure you didn't peter out and it wound up in my possession somehow LMAO. The Kohler 747cc gave out at about 1,400hrs. I got it in awesome condition because it needed an engine. Put a Courage pro 25 on, never again even though it's fairly new it's crap, and the body, drives, and deck are still going strong with absolutely no problems. Put electric grease on those contacts\plug you're talking about. You'll never have to mess with it again.
Been looking at a 60 inch mower and this is one that is in my price range, the only thing that has me concerned is the relatively short warranty, the other model I am considering has a 4 year warranty, that is twice as long as the Bad Boy.
27 hp efi Honda no choke issues lol nice mower for sure Fuel gauge if it's under warranty get it replaced and adjustment for the handle on the pulling issue but appreciate the update on the mower same mower but the 21 and 22 maverick doesn't seem to have those issues which is what I'm getting
If you don't take better care of it it will not last another 2 to 3 years at the rate your going it will be dead in 5 at the most? How many hours are on it?
So I have the complete opposite problem that you have. My engine is the Kawasaki fr651v and I never ever have to choke to start. No matter how long it's been sitting I never have to choke it. How is this possible on a carbureted engine?

You recommend getting a maverick bad boy and it will be fine? I wanted to spend like 6k on a solid mower. Was looking at a nice Husqvarna lawn tractor but you said they are just too slow in general.
@@-Enrico Hills are defiantly tricky. Up and down, not so bad. Side to side, sketchy as hell. I have slid mine down the hill a few times and had to get my truck to pull it out. You have to go slow and try to keep the nose pointed towards the high side of the hill. It's almost like your drifting with the angle you have to keep the mower at. Like I said hills are sketchy but you get used to it pretty quick. I'm a pro at it now.
You stripped the control panel bolts, I wouldn’t count that as an “ugly”, and I cringed a bit when you mentioned the “same jenky oil it came with” not gonna lie lol, but this was a great review, thank you. I just bought the Magnum 54” and think it’ll be the last mower I buy as well. Thanks again.
liked the comedy but bro, use some dielectric grease to fill the contacts where the switch plugs in and either build a cover or at least buy a waterproof tarp and that will cure current and future issues. do you service maint. and the mower will last forever, butcha gotta do the service maint on it. watch the parking brake cable they are prone to breaking and arent cheap, easy to install tho.
I do like mine, but for what you pay and the hype surrounding them some of these issues are what you would find on a cheap knock off mower. I guess to make it as big and bad as what they advertise it to be, they had to cut some corners on a few of the smaller non essential components.

no they couldn"t get them there was a problem getting the motors because of all the horseshit thats been going on and it was causing production problems I talked to rural king and two different dealers because I wanted a maverick and they all told me the same thing .
You are spending 5k on a mower but don't have a shop, garage or shed to park it in. Switches, seats, rubber, vynal, plastic, tires belts, starter and charging system are all going to be worse off getting wet. That's just a fact it doesn't matter what brand it is it's not going to last as well as it could.
YES!!! Thank you. You get it. That's exactly my point I was trying to make. Not everyone has the means to garage such a massive unit. Even if they do and they leave it out one time stuff is going to start messing up. With the amount of money one has to shell out for a Bad Boy mower they shouldn't have to worry about leaving it out over night once or twice. It's not a TV that hangs on a wall inside a house for God's sake. It's a mower that spends it's life working outside in the elements and over various different types of terrains. Tractors, 4 wheelers, (insert anything else on the planet here) get left out all over the world all the time. I've been around farming for many years. I've seen 80 year old tractors used on a daily basis that have never seen a shed in there life. They run and start every time just like they were intended to do. If your going to advertise that your mower is as bad ass as they claim it to be then as least make sure the morning dew isn't going to jack crap up. Thanks for watching.

Ah yes. The good 'ol "$10 Harbor Freight tarp". Those things are legendary for their quality and craftsmanship. Definitely well worth the $10 that one would have to spend every week on buying a new one when it starts leaking. But, that's still only $520 dollars a year in tarps so still a very good bargain. I mean they would for sure, like you said have to have a "substance abuse problem". Now that I think about it even more, before I bought this "$5k piece of equipment" I drove around the area to several different dealers and they all had mowers and other pieces of equipment sitting outside as well. How awful of them. They for sure must all have "substance abuse problems". This conversation has really enlightened me to the problems we are facing today with our mower dealerships. I mean the gall of them to have hundreds of pieces of equipment just sitting around outside for people to drive by and look at then not have the decency or common curtesy to purchase an additional 10,000 square feet building to put all their equipment away every night before they leave to go home. You have really opened my eyes to this travesty roostershooter76 and I want to thank you very much for doing so. You have made me aware that something needs to be done. I am going to immediately write my congressman and explain this outrages situation that we have going on here and demand that he do something about it. Thank you again. You have no idea how you have just changed my life for the better. Let me add an UGLY...the seat is by far the most uncomfortable seat I have ever tried to sit in...I was at The Tractor Store, all set to buy a 54" Magnum MZ, until I sat DOWN in the lower-than-normal seat, and within 30 seconds, my back hurt so bad I had to get help from the salesman to get up out of the seat and it hurt the rest of the day. Maybe another Bad Boy model with an upgraded seat might not have the same issues, but this one is horrible.
I’m not knocking you but I have been working on mowers for 40 years and if you keep taking care of it like you are doing you will have to buy another one. The worse thing you can do is not change the fluids and filters and leave it outside. Just my 2 cents.
It's a 2016. I bought it brand new. It's been a little longer than 3-4 yrs. But yeah I'm not very smart. She's running like a champ though so I don't believe she's hurt any.
I bought mine the year after Spartan launched. They weren't available in my area at the time. I have since looked at them and they look like a very solid unit. I would love to have one for about a month to beat around on and do a review. If you know anyone that can make that happen let me know.
Lol couldn’t tell if you were serious about not servicing the thing yet. U mentioned it having the original engine oil. Few months down the line that kohler will blow up and you’ll probably ending up making a video trashing bad boy. Happens with every brand. Owners ignore services and when something goes wrong they always trash the brand when in reality it’s their own dam fault.
4 years, nearly 300 hours and all I've ever done is put gas in it. KOHLER ROCKS!!! If she blows up a few months down the line, your not going to see any videos of me trashing Kohler or Bad Boy. Not sure if you know this but Bad Boy and Kohler are two different brands. Kohler has been around since the 20's, Bad Boy made their first mower in 2002. I wouldn't trash Bad Boy for an issue I might have with Kohler. But I would never trash Kohler. Like I said, they rock. Thanks for watching man. I really appreciate it.
Some may come with a Honda motor. I don't think they do but I don't know everything about them. Mine has a Kohler motor in it. Kohler is in Wisconsin. I can't verify that my motor came from the factory in Wisconsin but I can verify Bad Boy is made in Batesville Arkansas and my mower came from there.

Mine leaves stragglers even in short grass with brand new gator blades. It didn't do it when I first got it. Started 2nd year

Gator blades are the absolute worst. I had a set on my John Deere and it did exactly the same thing, had to take them off.

I have the 2020 zt elite and I hate that the bearings go out alot on my wheels and idler pulley once. My seat went limp in the first year like you said. But THANK you for the cleaning the contacts info. Mine just clicks alot I just keep working it until it cranks. I will clean them contacts in the morning!
I just bought a 2014 ZT Elite Badboy 747cc and had to replace the hydraulic tanks and of course the starter as well but the hour meter said 141 hours on it so i didnt think it was a bad deal for 600 plus the 200 dollar starter and 30 dollar tanks, it does also need a new seat and the arm rest are totally shot, but as far as cutting and driving and running??? There is no comparison, i just sold my 1 year old Spartan mower cause this old BadBoy is just a pure beast! Absolutely love it, id love to eventually get a diesel version but idk if i wanna shell out the $22,000 for that lol anyways, great review! Stay safe!
I just got a 2022 Bad Boy ZT Avenger, which is the model below the Elite I think, and that thing is awesome. I've had it for a month and I know why it's called 'Bad Boy' now. I will say that it looks like they improved the seats in the latest models. Mine has an all-plastic back and it seems pretty strong. Great review of the Elite, just confirms further that I made the right choice. Cheers brother

Holy crap! I have that exact mower! I mean, I'm looking for scratches similar to mine to make sure you didn't peter out and it wound up in my possession somehow LMAO.
The Kohler 747cc gave out at about 1,400hrs. I got it in awesome condition because it needed an engine. Put a Courage pro 25 on, never again even though it's fairly new it's crap, and the body, drives, and deck are still going strong with absolutely no problems. Put electric grease on those contacts\plug you're talking about. You'll never have to mess with it again.
Been looking at a 60 inch mower and this is one that is in my price range, the only thing that has me concerned is the relatively short warranty, the other model I am considering has a 4 year warranty, that is twice as long as the Bad Boy.
The way things are built these day's I would have to say, "The longer the warranty, the better."
27 hp efi Honda no choke issues lol nice mower for sure Fuel gauge if it's under warranty get it replaced and adjustment for the handle on the pulling issue but appreciate the update on the mower same mower but the 21 and 22 maverick doesn't seem to have those issues which is what I'm getting

So I have the complete opposite problem that you have. My engine is the Kawasaki fr651v and I never ever have to choke to start. No matter how long it's been sitting I never have to choke it. How is this possible on a carbureted engine?

@@IttakesWill I live in Arkansas near Harrison I've got about 5 acres to mow the property is on a pretty big hill. I heard the zero turns don't do well on hills though. You recommend getting a maverick bad boy and it will be fine? I wanted to spend like 6k on a solid mower. Was looking at a nice Husqvarna lawn tractor but you said they are just too slow in general.
@@-Enrico Hills are defiantly tricky. Up and down, not so bad. Side to side, sketchy as hell. I have slid mine down the hill a few times and had to get my truck to pull it out. You have to go slow and try to keep the nose pointed towards the high side of the hill. It's almost like your drifting with the angle you have to keep the mower at. Like I said hills are sketchy but you get used to it pretty quick. I'm a pro at it now.

747 is a bit on the weak side. Have to run it pretty hard to get up any speed. Also had steering problems but they made it right under warranty.
You stripped the control panel bolts, I wouldn’t count that as an “ugly”, and I cringed a bit when you mentioned the “same jenky oil it came with” not gonna lie lol, but this was a great review, thank you.

liked the comedy but bro, use some dielectric grease to fill the contacts where the switch plugs in and either build a cover or at least buy a waterproof tarp and that will cure current and future issues. do you service maint. and the mower will last forever, butcha gotta do the service maint on it. watch the parking brake cable they are prone to breaking and arent cheap, easy to install tho.

Bad Boy mowers must suck because my local Rural King stop carrying them!
I do like mine, but for what you pay and the hype surrounding them some of these issues are what you would find on a cheap knock off mower. I guess to make it as big and bad as what they advertise it to be, they had to cut some corners on a few of the smaller non essential components.
@@IttakesWill My local Sutherland's is a full line dealer, and servicer for the Bad Boy mower. Every time I go in there, I drool over the lineup in there. I can't decide on the elite, or the Ariens in the same class, that's at Lowe's. It's their XL model. Any thoughts?

no they couldn"t get them there was a problem getting the motors because of all the horseshit thats been going on and it was causing production problems I talked to rural king and two different dealers because I wanted a maverick and they all told me the same thing .

You are spending 5k on a mower but don't have a shop, garage or shed to park it in. Switches, seats, rubber, vynal, plastic, tires belts, starter and charging system are all going to be worse off getting wet. That's just a fact it doesn't matter what brand it is it's not going to last as well as it could.
YES!!! Thank you. You get it. That's exactly my point I was trying to make. Not everyone has the means to garage such a massive unit. Even if they do and they leave it out one time stuff is going to start messing up. With the amount of money one has to shell out for a Bad Boy mower they shouldn't have to worry about leaving it out over night once or twice. It's not a TV that hangs on a wall inside a house for God's sake. It's a mower that spends it's life working outside in the elements and over various different types of terrains. Tractors, 4 wheelers, (insert anything else on the planet here) get left out all over the world all the time. I've been around farming for many years. I've seen 80 year old tractors used on a daily basis that have never seen a shed in there life. They run and start every time just like they were intended to do. If your going to advertise that your mower is as bad ass as they claim it to be then as least make sure the morning dew isn't going to jack crap up. Thanks for watching.

I don't think storing any residential mower outside is recommended because that's not what the mower is intended to do.

The guy with the "Substance abuse problem" is the guy who buys a $5k piece of equipment and leaves it out in the rain, instead of buying a $10 tarp from Harbor Freight and covering it up!
Ah yes. The good 'ol "$10 Harbor Freight tarp". Those things are legendary for their quality and craftsmanship. Definitely well worth the $10 that one would have to spend every week on buying a new one when it starts leaking. But, that's still only $520 dollars a year in tarps so still a very good bargain. Especially like you said when someone "buys a $5k piece of equipment and leaves it out in the rain". Not very smart of those guys to do that for sure. I mean they would for sure, like you said have to have a "substance abuse problem". But, as I ponder over your comments today roostershooter76, it dawns on me that when I bought my "$5k piece of equipment" it was out in front of the building on display with several other pieces of equipment, such as dozers, bush hogs, tractors, side by sides, etc. Also as I recall it was actually raining that day. Isn't that funny roostershooter76? What a peculiar coincidence. Now that I think about it even more, before I bought this "$5k piece of equipment" I drove around the area to several different dealers and they all had mowers and other pieces of equipment sitting outside as well. How awful of them. They for sure must all have "substance abuse problems". This conversation has really enlightened me to the problems we are facing today with our mower dealerships. I mean the gall of them to have hundreds of pieces of equipment just sitting around outside for people to drive by and look at then not have the decency or common curtesy to purchase an additional 10,000 square feet building to put all their equipment away every night before they leave to go home. You have really opened my eyes to this travesty roostershooter76 and I want to thank you very much for doing so. You have made me aware that something needs to be done. I am going to immediately write my congressman and explain this outrages situation that we have going on here and demand that he do something about it. Thank you again. You have no idea how you have just changed my life for the better. I'm really thankful that there are key board warriors who still care enough to look out for us little guys and tell us when you think we need your advise. The world is a better place because of people just like you who live in their parents basement and have nothing better to do than get on the internet all night and comment on things they have absolutely no idea what their talking about. Let me add an UGLY...the seat is by far the most uncomfortable seat I have ever tried to sit in...I was at The Tractor Store, all set to buy a 54" Magnum MZ, until I sat DOWN in the lower-than-normal seat, and within 30 seconds, my back hurt so bad I had to get help from the salesman to get up out of the seat and it hurt the rest of the day. Maybe another Bad Boy model with an upgraded seat might not have the same issues, but this one is horrible.
I’m not knocking you but I have been working on mowers for 40 years and if you keep taking care of it like you are doing you will have to buy another one. The worse thing you can do is not change the fluids and filters and leave it outside. Just my 2 cents.

I bought mine the year after Spartan launched. They weren't available in my area at the time. I have since looked at them and they look like a very solid unit. I would love to have one for about a month to beat around on and do a review. If you know anyone that can make that happen let me know.
Lol couldn’t tell if you were serious about not servicing the thing yet. U mentioned it having the original engine oil. Few months down the line that kohler will blow up and you’ll probably ending up making a video trashing bad boy. Happens with every brand. Owners ignore services and when something goes wrong they always trash the brand when in reality it’s their own dam fault.
4 years, nearly 300 hours and all I've ever done is put gas in it. KOHLER ROCKS!!! If she blows up a few months down the line, your not going to see any videos of me trashing Kohler or Bad Boy. Not sure if you know this but Bad Boy and Kohler are two different brands. Kohler has been around since the 20's, Bad Boy made their first mower in 2002. I wouldn't trash Bad Boy for an issue I might have with Kohler. But I would never trash Kohler. Like I said, they rock. Thanks for watching man. I really appreciate it.

From what I heard it's not American-made it has a Honda motor
Some may come with a Honda motor. I don't think they do but I don't know everything about them. Mine has a Kohler motor in it. Kohler is in Wisconsin. I can't verify that my motor came from the factory in Wisconsin but I can verify Bad Boy is made in Batesville Arkansas and my mower came from there.
