Well said James...this really is probably one of the greatest achievements ever. It should be way bigger news than it is...and the fact that the gent who did it (Alex of course) seems to be one of the most down to earth ego-less people I have ever seen makes it seem even more incredible. I hope nothing for him but more success...

Alex is the same age as my daughter and I have followed him for many years and just love his work ethic, the love he has for climbing and just everything he stands for, the environment, his contribution to those people who have no electricity which his money provides them with via solar power though the foundation he started.... what a brilliant young man and the bravest of all men he is and what he does is beyond any human has ever accomplished.... yes, Alex is my hero, there's no other that compares.

I practice all winter, spring, and summer this difficult boulder, but only made it halfway because I would be literally be shaking, scared that there was a high chance I could injure my self or possibly fall to my death. so one day I got enough courage to just go for it, after months of preparation I climb to the top with no safety gear and made it back. I don't suggest you do the same, I had a professional rock climber friend of mine teach me techniques, I worked out at the gym and practice many times. the feeling of conquering your fears is the best feeling ever.

......everything changes. His trust in it being the same and it being reliable is something I will never understand. In a weird way I do understand though not in the same manner. For me, rocks, let alone cliffs are not one of them. While writing this, I realized that growing up in a mining down, I may have always viewed the rocks as "wanting to crush us". I don't know, I just had the thought. I don't trust really anything though. Eventually it all falls. On a cliff it's worse. One fracture being slightly wider at the top can mean everything down below. One fracture being slightly wider at the bottom can mean everything above might collapse. I don't even think I have the balls to watch the movie honestly.

I still don't seem how he scales a 3,000 foot wall free with his balls not getting in the way. I hyperventilated watching Free Solo! And I knew he lived to talk about it. Still, holy fuckin shit!

I watched free solo the other day and just hearing him repeat the sequences of holds and moves and pitches and left and right ect. He literally has every move...every breath...everything planned to perfection written down repeated over and over again........ my life.....ha i show up to a job with a young 25 year old kid and he cant get off his phone and doesn't even know where he is. You see people die from texting and driving everyday. You dont see Alex dieing and what hes doing is way crazier then texting and driving which can be done by a professional but please dont. What I'm really saying is....wake up people

Why going without a roap? A roap won't make it any easier and you don"t have to use it one single time, the only difference the roap being there.
