RajunCajun34 Jesus chill out my man/ woman. Who crapped in your cereal this morning? I like Dave there’s nothing wrong with not really liking a challenge in games. Games are designed for fun after all. Its not like Rob particularly enjoys a challenge either. He played Devil may cry on easy after the first boss and has never finished any dark souls. Nothing wrong with that either.

I have a kind of an embarrassing one. The first game that my sisters and I played through in its entirety was Legend of Dragoon, and we knew NOTHING of playing video games. So, in the beginning of the game we would run from literally every battle that was not a boss battle, so when we came to Volcano Villude and had to fight Virage, I we freaked out because he looked scary and he was really powerful and we were SOOOOO under-leveled. Good times.

  • @buggr

Xenosaga Episode 1 (PS2), the entire second dungeon.
Xenosaga starts you off with the expositional level to let you know that you are Shion Uzuki, lead scientist of Vector Industries 3rd R&D Division and designer of an experimental combat android named KOS-MOS, a weapon for fighting a mysterious force known as Gnosis.
You exit the simulation used to explain combat (monsters visible and avoidable on map, fights trigger scene change with enemy party) and a plot device called the Hilbert Effect, which renders ghostly Gnosis into a Real plane where you can do something about them, and find yourself touring a spaceship, Woglinde, doing menial fetch errands and learning the ship and crew.
Then the mayhem starts, ghost Gnosis show up and attack the ship in the middle of your nap, and you need to find KOS-MOS so you can turn her on in the real world.
The problem presents itself that the direct route is blocked by Gnosis, they're all over the ship, and you get into a fight with one and the first thing is you can't hit them, miss, and then it gets a turn and grabs you, chokes you and starts turning Shion into salt.
You only survive this because a crew member sets off an explosion that distracts the monster, and Shion has magic plot armor against salting just this once.
After that, you need to take the long way using every feature on the ship to avoid a fight, because if you get caught and don't run it's fixed 9999 to your squishy level 6 self.
The one part that really gets me in here is the left side corridor, the game shows you how to survive by having kids challenge you to a form of tag in exchange for potions but when the price is death you freak out. You start at the top and head down and two giant gnosis pop out of the walls and charge at you, you need to run up the way you came and kite them around this crate and then run down the hall again.

Since Nath mentioned Metal Gear Stupid I figured this would be a good time to say I've recently been binge-watching all the old Let's Plays the guys used to do (Until Dawn, Don't Starve, Outlast etc) and I realise there are probably very good reasons why they don't do full LPs anymore (and I love them streaming so this isn't meant as a jab there either), but if you guys ever do decide to get back to Let's Playing games I'd absolutely love it, your dynamic was always so fun... and I'm sure Rosie would add even more :) I realise the Access team probably gets comments like this all the time but ultimately I just wanted to say thankyou for all the time you guys have helped me pass. Also cant resist saying please let Metal Gear Stupid 2 and 3 be a thing some day :p also Delsin is the true hero

On the "Sin Harvest" attack, I remember reading somewhere that he's actually saying, "descend, Heartless Angel", which makes sense because Heartless Angel is his attack in FFVII that reduces the party's HP to 1.
And yes, defeating KH1 Sephiroth is my crowning optional boss achievement. I did something similar at the very end where I launched a desperation combo to siphon his last bit of health. Of course, watching people on the internet do it makes me wonder why I ever had so much trouble. But yeah, what a tough and great boss fight! Too bad there's not really a KH3 equivalent.

I'm currently playing Dark Souls 3, and the only two bosses I have left are the Nameless King and the Twin Princes. Leaving the Princes for last, but I've been frustrated by the King for more than 30 attempts. He just hits so HARD during his second phase, and I'm not Gud Enuff yet to dodge *everything* that he throws.

    • @Dave_ja_vu
      @Dave_ja_vu 4 года назад +1

@@tobiasbarzydlo9250 I have news for you lol. The twin princes might be the last boss you get a trophy for but it's not the last boss. The last boss (not including dlc) only appears after you kill the four Lords of cinder and place them on the thrones in firelink. It's my favourite boss battle but also my answer to this question because it's second phase when Gwyn's music starts playing I got very emotional because it's a long serious I had been super invested in, all the lore all the item descriptions etc. and when that music hit I realised almost immediately the gravity of it. And I panicked because it dawned on me how close I was to finishing the series.
Also, if you have a strength build - the Dragonslayer Greatshield and strafing and circling him to his left (your right) pretty much makes that Nameless King fight a joke. Almost the exact same strategy for the prince's with a dragon crest shield and Orbeck is a very helpful summon if you struggle with them.

The first that comes to mind is the 3rd Vergil fight in Devil May Cry 3 on PS2 (with the original game itself being more difficult than the Special Edition/HD Edition). Just being a super difficult fight with it getting harder as he gets less health especially when he activates devil trigger, took quite a few tries but was rewarding when I beat him. More recently on PS4 GOW the Valkyrie Queen was a super tough fight again taking multiple fights to beat her.

I remember the day when I finally beat Sephiroth. I thought I was going to celebrate big & keep on playing the game. Nope. I just saved the game, put it away, & actually didn't even play games for a while. I mean it took long enough to earn enough Munny to get the 99 Elixrs, & I think Max Potions or Elixrs, all for Sora of course since he's the only 1 fighting Sephiroth. I was so game for beating this boss that I wound up selling all of my Gummy Ship parts (actually I didn't realize I was doing that until I had to travel in space again, I mean I had a mean looking & working ship, but I needed that Munny though...)

I have two great moments of panic:
Final Fantasy 9 - Hades. I was at a friend's place helping them with the boss when out of nowhere he launches an attack that ko'd 3 of my 4 party members. Dagger (white mage) was left standing but silenced (unable to use magic) and berserked (only able to attack)... Was a very tense moment.
Champions of Norrath Return to Arms - Red Dragon. We were playing this four player. My team mate's characters are all high level... I'm a brand new character just hitting level 7... In the course of the fight each of my allies goes down leaving me (hopelessly underpowered) locked in a small round room with this dragon with no option but to run and throw handaxes at the dragon. I think one in four axes were hitting it for maybe 2-3 points damage... Somehow I managed to kill it.

I have a couple of stories, regarding panic in a game. In Dead Space when you encounter the regenerator, i thought that had succesfully bought some some after cutting both his legs and arms, but when i thought i was mostly save in a narrow white corrider, i turned around an saw the monster round towards me like a rapid dog and screamed LOUD in panic. When a friend and I was playing Outlast a couple of years ago, none of us came very far in the game (about an hour or so) because both us where drenched in cold sweat from sheer terror and fear. The last one is the cleric beast in Bloodborne, it's howl and presence frightened me for 3 years before i finally beat it

I'd have to say that for me, the most memorable panic moment was in Diablo 3 when I came across a group of rare monsters that randomly had just the right abilities to totally hose the player. They'd trap in you place then put a hazard there that drained your health while you're trapped plus those spinning laser things that do big damage when you get hit, and there were 3 of them, so if you got caught once, it was almost impossible to avoid getting trapped by the other 2. I was able to beat it by bravely running away so that they'd split up, then take them down one at a time.

Specifying Sephiroth as the main antagonist is fair, since the main antagonist is actually the Shinra Corporation for the first several hours of the game. Best time to fight him is when you have the Super Glide ability, as that is the only way to reliably close the distance on Sephiroth so that you can hit him the one time to cancel Sin's Harvest.

I feel the exact same way about Sephiroth! That was my choice as well. I played against him so many years ago when it first came out (probably when i was 13-15 years old) and I could never beat him. Or any of the other side bosses. I left them alone for 10 looooong years...not until about 4 years ago, as a 26 year old, did I attempt the fight against all those bosses again. I was able to beat all the other bosses first, leaving Sephiroth for last. I was maxed out, ultimate weapon, loads of elixirs and everything and lost the first time. And after fighting him the second time, losing track of time while fighting him, I felt like a heavy burden was lifted away from me when I finally defeated him. Not only did it feel AMAZING to finally defeat him and get rid of 10 years of internal pain, I did before my brother could as well (which I still think he hasn't defeated him).

IDK if you remember, but there were races that lasted more than 20min in the Gran Turismo series. My panic happened with approximately 2 laps left of the 6hr endurance race for completely stock Miata models that I was leading by half an lap on bad tires. I had just enough time to get new tires and exit just ahead of 2nd, but I slipped in the turn and missed the pits. I lost too much time to pit and win, so just drove like on ice, losing the buffer gap quickly, and some how I kept "control" enough to win by a bumper. I was sweating buckets and couldn't stand up for a while after I finished it.

The first panic moment that comes to my mind is in FIFA/PES when the opponent gets the ball (and some teamates for backup) into your box and your defenders cant seem to get the ball off of them (but ur scared to play too rough for fear of giving away a PK) and the ball is just pinging around being passed or deflected n bouncin around like a goddamn pinball and u can feel the inevitability of one of the opposing players taking a shot any minute now and knowing you’re too panicked to be able to do anything about it lmao

"Sephiroth is the hardest boss in KH"
    Rob never fought Kurt Zysa?
I did lose to Seph a couple times, but is possible to knock him out of his 1hp attack. Other than that cure spells are more than enough to recover.
Kurt simply locks your magic and you're effed if you can't dodge his attacks enough to move on with the battle. And he does it a lot! It took me 3 days to dodge consistently he zooming through the air.

Manhunt. The final fight against PigMan. Understand that I saw the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was a teen & ever since, I've had this thing about chainsaws. Well, the sound of a chainsaw. You have to fight him in a dark basement & most of the time you can only hear the chainsaw. Sometimes he turns it off & creeps up on you & then turns it on at the last moment.

I've just finished Hellblade twice in 2 days (Yes I enjoyed it that much). My first time going through the final battle was fine, I absolutely kicked arse. . . the second time, not quite so much of an arse kicking & more of a hand cramped fumbling on the pad.
The enemies just kept on coming, every so often they would spawn behind me & block my escape path, other times my frazzled brain couldn't react quick enough to the voices warning me that they're behind me. I completely went to pieces!!
In the end I was beaten, not by panic, not by stressing out but through both hands cramping up & causing me to drop the pad on my lap whilst saying "Here I am, come & end my misery please".
I would still recommend this game to the entire world, it is stunning, it is a masterpiece

My panic moment was in Resident Evil 4 when I first entered the village. I thought there were stealth mechanics so I tried to sneak around the village. Then the song kicked off, someone screamed "Agarrenlo!!!" and I went "Uh oh..." Next thing I knew I'm wasting precious bullets, a grenade and herbs. I thought "Oh! zombie game! Clearly headshots will save me!" Turns out the headshots do nothing but stagger them. THEN it got turned up to 11 and Salvador came in with his chainsaw.

One of the biggest times I panicked on a game was on slender man. Lol. My son had the game, I knew just a tiny bit about it, and the first time slender man came after me I panicked hard. The screen is shaking and getting black and white pixelated, the panicked breathing from the character. Everything told me to panick and I did.

So this probably dates me a bit, but I recall every enemy from Piston Honda onward in the original Mike Tyson's Punch Out as always being stressful on first fighting them, but the last three fighters Sandman, Super Macho Man, and Mike Tyson were the worst every time. All three had insane attacks that could pretty much down you with one hit. At the time you could really only save via passwords at certain points and you'd have to fight your way back up if you lost so I was always left emotionally exhausted after those fights.

Just this past weekend when I finally platinumed RE2 remake. All I had to do was finish 4th survivor (not typically a fan of these kinds of modes) had a good run, made it to that courtyard area, had flash grenades left. Got turned around, grabbed by zombies 3 times, on danger, grabbed by a plant dude, used my last grenade to get out, took 3 shotgun shells to clear last zombie and limped to the finish thinking, “how the hell did I screw that up so bad?”
