- Original source of footage is 4K99 Czech print from TheStarWarsTrilogy.com. I downsampled it to 720p, then ml upscaled it to 4k and blended that with the original 4k file. Audio is from schorman's laserdisc audio archive.
The film grain from the print makes the CGI look better and blend with the live action more naturally.
It’s kinda like how older games look better on crt screens
Phantom Menace is simply the most aestheticly pleasing imo
THAT OUTSIDE SHOT OF PALPATINE'S OFFICE IS SO MUCH BETTER AND SO BEAUTIFUL
1:33 I don't understand why this shot was removed from the dvd version
George just does things that no one cam understand.
@@Likeonions Like selling the ip to disney.. 😂 Thankfully if its anything to redeem him he has lately admitted it being a mistake.
Stunning and brave
1:33 I love that shot.
This film has its charm
And they say the sequels look better than the prequels
The digital remasters completely wreck the color contrast you see on the prints. It's tragic.
Damn that looks good
I got the theatrical versions of episodes IV, V, and VI in 4K. However I realized now the theatrical episode I is missing in my collection.
Even though Episode I had some questionable moments, it was still pretty epic to get to see the capital of the Star Wars galaxy on screen.
This looks so much better than The Acolyte (25 years later).
The perfect look for these movies is 4k with that Oldschool film grain filter
it's not a filter
@@Likeonions I didn’t know the right word for it
It would be so good to see the phantom menace in its original glory.the 4k scans of PM are so astounding and quite brilliant.
Looks excellent! Thanks for putting in the hours / days / weeks!
" I removed the czech subtitles and filled in that area of the image using bluray footage color matched and grain matched to the print."
Did you also happen to add the entire image of TPM that was only available on the 2012 BD, as all other releases were about 5% cropped in on all sides? As far as I'm aware the UHD image of the 2019 release also has that 2:40.1 crop from the original 2:35.1.
I can't wait to see 4k99 on the websites someday soon.
