I assure you, factory paint is not perfect, it will be full of sand marks and micro marring from the automatic wash. They do not put wax on new cars at a dealership. However, it's a good idea to take care of your paint, since it is the most expensive part of a car. Sorry for the rant, I know what your point is, but just wanted to clarify how the analogy isn't quite correct. To your point, it's perfectly acceptable to smooth out the clear coat and remove defects with a polisher on a used car to make the paint in better condition than when it was new. As it is perfectly acceptable to apply wax, sealants, coatings, and protective films to a vehicle to preserve exposed surfaces from UV degradation and environmental fallout (bird poop and brake dust).
I'm not against card doctoring as long as it's noted, just as many great paintings have been professionally restored, baseball ⚾ cards are works of art and many are in high demand while very few have actually survived in PSA 6 or higher.
I think what Kurt is doing is totally fine. The car analogy is off though. It works if you think about autobody shops. What is there purpose? To restore vehicles that are damaged. If you want to sell your car, would you try to fix it to get more value? Or would you sell it for less, because it's an original Ford Fiesta? There is restoration in about every industry or collection hobby.
A vintage card was never intended to be issued originally with tape on it. If you can successfully remove that tape, fix a small crease on a corner, wrinkles to make the card as intended originally how is that altering a card? Tape is altering a card from it's original issue, so removing tape is altering? Trimming is altering, painting is altering as that's not how the card was originally produced. If you have an old card, you accidentally left it out at night and a mouse shit on it, wouldn't anybody try to clean that card, that's just a small point.
I may have missed it while you were saying he was deflecting, but when he asked you why you called him a pedo or a druggy, what was your answer? Looks to me like you were deflecting by calling him out for deflecting. Anyway, what does it matter what someone does with their own cards? If I have a valuable painting that is dirty and old looking, I would pay a professional to do a restoration on it. I’m not sure what the difference is. I personally would never do it to any of my cards, but I see no issue of someone else doing it if they want to. PSA and Beckett are the biggest scammers of ALL. They are inconsistent, they are biased and “take care” of their bigger customers and that’s just 2 of many things they do. Maybe we get on the Card Manufactures for packaging cards with blatant print lines, Dimples, etc before they package them up and sell them for 500 plus a box and then you wouldn’t have people who pull great cards then have to clean them because they were shit right out of the packaging. Vintage should be left untouched though imo.
Wow, you boys have no idea what you are talking about. I get that there is a fine line here, but tape on a card that is graded, IS ALTERED as well. And yes, I am older collector and I would have no problem with the cleaning and soaking if it enhances the card. That is just the reality, and you both don’t seem to get that.
You hit the nail on the head about generational differences. Its also similar to the steroid discussion--you either have folks that want the purity/integrity of the game or you want homerun contests every single year. Cheers
That's my thoughts. I'm getting dinged up cards on the majority of decent inserts that would justify a high price for the box. Topps usually is good about replacements but panini is far behind even backing up their signature redemptions. Old cards I personally wouldn't soak but if a few wrinkles can be smoothed out, who cares, more power to the owner. I'm tired of seeing quality go down on greedy price levels. They triple the cost merely if a rookie base is sought after. That ain't right.
You guys fail to also mention in Kurt's interview with Jeremy Lee that Kurt mentioned talking to the most respected document and book restorers to perfect his cleaning solution so it didn't damage the cardboard, if I have a May's Rookie that's a 2 and I can make it a 4, why wouldn't I, if you spill coffee on a card while your sorting them do you not try to wipe it off, your a liar if you say no, if you are a purest then you should leave the coffee on it, otherwise your argument is hypocritical
I get both sides. Restoration is perfectly acceptable in many many other industries and widely accepted to help preserve and maintain value or even increase value of many things. Think about paintings of valuable art. Million dollar art works are cleaned and restored all the time. Doesn’t make it decertified or devalued. PSA needs to get off their high horse here.
Well, here's my question on the matter, and it was mentioned in the video a bit. Kurt isn't trimming and he's not coloring cards, so how is this any different than restoring a classic car or more specifically restoring a piece of fine art? This stuff happens with multi-million dollar pieces of artwork regularly. Making something very old last longer. As for newer cards, maybe if Panini, etc. had some quality control, I mean come on, you are making it sound like these cards are coming out of the packs mint. The "brand new" cards come out with marks, scratches, dings, dents, etc. I don't know, I am a vintage collector and using Kurt's Card Care doesn't turn all vintage into PSA 10's. In most cases is just makes the cards have a little better eye appeal. I wouldn't mind buying a card that had been cleaned up a little. Now, Kurt's overall opinion on it, I think he's just being defensive because he's being attacked. The issue I have with PSA is that PSA is wrong ALL. THE. TIME. about various things. I had a pack pulled card, that I pulled myself from a hobby box many years ago, that they said wasn't authentic, lol. So, I am afraid that PSA minions who make mistakes all the time, are all of a sudden going to start cracking down on people "cleaning" cards and they will just start picking cards at random, lol.
To me, it sounds like a fine line that Kurts Card Care is walking. I personally think its great to try and restore and older card in anyway that doesnt alter the original artwork. If the ink that was used 60-80 years ago has faded and theres ways to improve the card quality without "adding more ink" but restoring original ink, then im for that. Whether Kurts process does that, im not sure i dont know what he uses but i do think that selling people on "juicing" their newly opened or undamaged cards in the juice is not right. Restoring antiques is the same process, theres ways to do it right and theres ways to do it wrong. You wouldnt restore a lamp that was bought 2-3 years ago without some outlier reason
I’m in the Pokémon space and wasn’t familiar with your channel, and I’m not saying I agree with all Kurt’s methods, but your ways of talking about it and people in general is not good. Well in defense for ppl not liking card redtoration, i do understand the i want the card to be original how the manufacture wants the card to look, i get it, in defense of card restoration, i get it even more, u dint want a card with some guys fingerprint some where on the card that went through his psa submission right after he jacked off to the dreams of psa 10's, & im sure the card manufactur does not want their cards that are off centered or print lined up or even have the infamous roller lines & scuffs from being troen around during transit before it gets graded& in a psa slab, im sure the card manufactour wants the card to look perfect & its better for the card companies reputation as a whole, so im sure card cleaning or restoration the manufatur is not going to mind as long as there are no indications of visual defacingbof the players cards if you cant see then insay do it, if u can smell u better stop doing it !
Well his juice is pretty much Distilled Water and witch hazel. So good luck with that. And the witch hazel is just there to give it a smell. You can do the same restoration with distilled water and get the exact same results.
Yeah, this card doesn't get submitted under the economy or value scale. You'll have to go up to express and that is $75. I had to do express plus once because i estimated my card to be worth $3000, paid $150 plus shipping and they claimed my card was trimmed. Yall pissed that the low end collectors don't have to buy your mass psa cards lol 😂
The fact that not all modern cards opened from packs are of equal quality is the reason why he does cards care on them. Don't be stupid
First thing they do w a 2024 Honda when u buy it, is wash and wet wax it. 😂😂😂
I don’t think they deactivated the right cards .why does the before look better than the after.
I suspect legally Kurts Card Care is probably right.
So, I am afraid that PSA minions who make mistakes all the time, are all of a sudden going to start cracking down on people "cleaning" cards and they will just start picking cards at random, lol.
whoever owns that card made the choice to let him do it. Not your cards so stop crying
Sucks that so many cards 2 days out of a pack need restoration
2024 topps heritage is full of factory blemishes. Polishing the surface is great idea!
Vintage cards are going to show signs of age. That’s part of history. Keep your Kurt’s card spunk off them please
why are these guys still talking about cards... havent they learn everyone hate them
To me, it sounds like a fine line that Kurts Card Care is walking.
As long as they state what they did. I wouldn’t touch an altered or restored card with a ten foot pole.
@@bryankahtava3773 You wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
I’m in the Pokémon space and wasn’t familiar with your channel, and I’m not saying I agree with all Kurt’s methods, but your ways of talking about it and people in general is not good.
YOU evaded him after he did the same when he asked why you called him a sexual predator (?!?), and then you went from talking about one person in Kurt to calling a whole generation confused. This just seems like you had a lot of agendas of hate to spread, and in just 8 minutes you manage to do that very effectively. It’s sad, and I know you probably won’t care what I think, but I might as well utilize my free speech and give my 2 cents since you gave yours.

Well said. They answered his question with a question and disparaged him. They’re acting like CNN to trump and FOX to Biden. It’s ridiculous. This segment seems purely subjective and opinionated. You don’t have any facts here. Cards were restored to a better condition yes. Everyone is guilty of wiping fingerprints off a card with microfiber. GUILTY!!!! Now you are a fraud for altering. We are all guilty of that. Clean a card to increase value? So what. It looks better. Period. You want a clean Jackie Robinson or one with tape on it? Clean all day. You’re freaking crazy!!!
Damm if we all had 10 whats the point of the hobby or even grading.. Cards come imperfect from the factory thats what makes the hobby to find a 10 use to be exciting but if you can make a 10 all the time whats the point now.
Psa will give you 10s all day if you pay the right fee....
😅 it’s actually 100% on PSA lol
Anyone can get the cleaning tools and materials doesn't have to be Kurt's The hobby has to be told what to do again. They act like it's over.
6:30 mins into this video and get out your basement. Read a book. This channel blows 😂😂😂
How many Wemby 1/1 are there at this point?
You sound like a schill for psa.how much do they pay you
damn it, baseball, now even the cards are juiced!
It's restoring them he's doing what panini should have done. You buy something new why shouldn't it be perfect?
PSA should invest in technology to detect manipulated cards by fraudsters who use Kurt’s juice.
Well his juice is pretty much Distilled Water and witch hazel. So good luck with that. And the witch hazel is just there to give it a smell. You can do the same restoration with distilled water and get the exact same results.
Let’s be real, who cares…
Kirk . Keep fighting that case
No juice please
No different than cleaning up a coin...
cleaning coins severely devalues the coin.
Fastest clip made! 😂
Bunch of babies 😂
Let's Go!
Stfu u guys are just jealous
So PSA decertified it.... Cool he can sub the card again..... Probably even through his account if he wants.
then he's into a $1000 card for $1200 in cost. wow.
@@SportsCardRadio unless he got a discount on condition because he knows he could bump it up.
Yeah, this card doesn't get submitted under the economy or value scale. You'll have to go up to express and that is $75. I had to do express plus once because i estimated my card to be worth $3000, paid $150 plus shipping and they claimed my card was trimmed. I was like WTF, lost the money and still pissed a year later. So i have no sympathy for people who alters cards and get away with it. I never altered or trimmed my card, but PSA claimed it was. It was a 1968 topps card.
Hey guys Do you know that they restore Art and Van Gogh and Rembrandt Art are restored. Too bring back there beauty. I love too get creases out and tape off and bring it back too look like it did when I opened it in 1964. So I disagreed with you guys. I think you guys are over reacting. PSA in my opinion are not the most up and up company anyway. So I’m older and consider baseball cards my Art
hey dork - do you know that they disclose the restoration of the Van Gogh so buyers know it's been restored. I bet you don't tell PSA or a buyer you soaked your cards. SCRUB
I take the wax off the fronts of all cards, using a cotton make-pad. Why let the wax effect another card, if you just store them in 100-800 count boxes. It sounds like you don't have a clue about collecting. Oh you could make every card look like a ten. How smart is that statement. If people want to clean the smeng off their cards from some greasy fingered no mind, that they have purchased the card or cards from, let them. As for people who soak cards in solutions to take away the grit and tobacco smoke from 20 - 100 years, then pass them off, as something they are not, that is a problem. I am not a fan of grading companies, if your card is worth $10,000 then we up charge our service from $20 to $1000. Can't tell me they spend a week or two going over a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth. No it is just a money grab. Most companies don't even let you know why your cards got the grades they did. Sounds like you really don't know who the scammers are! Are related to Moscow Marg? As to the comment on a trans gender becoming president. They thought a person of color, would never be President or Vice President. There are many LGBTQ in the house of representatives. From some of your statements, it sounds like you would never have liked this day to come. Guess what! THERE HERE! You definitely let your true colors shine through.
