- Listen to Lawrence Hendra talk about the importance of this work within Henri Gaudier-Brzeska’s oeuvre. This exceptionally rare oil on canvas portrays the artist’s own reflection alongside his first formal commission, a plaster of a Madonna, now in the collection of Kettle’s Yard. In fact, only three oil paintings on canvas appear to be recorded in Henri Gaudier-Brzeska's body of work, and the present work is one of only two recorded painted self-portraits by the artist.

This video deserves more attention with such an exquisite piece.
Great presentation!~
I love this piece so much, I would even have a (this word is hard for me to say, as I do not like facsimiles) "giclee" replica made. So much presence and "wall power".

And with whom am I listening too? And what have you done with Philip
Lawrence is Philip's novice. His student.
Oh, thank you. Did not know of this artist. Now I very much wish I owned this painting--and see the play.
